LAFFNVEGAS Says Aloha LIVE from the MS Oosterdam

Aloha, yes I am getting into the spirit for our first cruise to Hawaii on the Inaugural Voyage to the Hawaiian Islands for the Beautiful MS Oosterdam. This is actually a cruise that has been sort of a long time in the making and surprising we have not done it before now. For those of you that have known Tom and I for many years ( pre Cruise Addiction Years) when people thought of where Tom and I were heading off to on a vacation it would be Hawaii. For several years we were flying over there twice a year. UAL loved us and Mileage Plus was our best friend until 2002 when we took our first cruise. We did go to Hawaii a few more times but the addiction to cruising grew rapidly. Our last time to Hawaii was May 2005 when we were in Maui at the Grand Wailea. It is so hard to believe that has been over 6 years. But let me say that resort has one great spa 02

Most of you know Tom's and my back ground and also know I have been doing these Live from the ships now for several years. So once again I am bringing you all along and I will share with you our 14 day cruise to Hawaii on what has always been our favorite ship the MS Oosterdam. This will make our 9th cruise on the Oosterdam, It was on the Oosterdam that we Celebrated our 30 year Wedding Anniversary with good friends in 2007 and it was on the Oosterdam in 2008 that we received our 100 day Copper Medallion and this voyage on the Oosterdam we become 4 Star Mariners:). And of course it is the Oosterdam that for many years now I have been capturing the Web Cam Banner Wave in San Diego. Oddly enough I have never done a Live from the Oosterdam.

For those that have not been lurking our Roll Call you have missed some entertaining reading and it rather reflects the fun nature of our Roll Call Group. Tom and I are actually traveling with Sher aka localady and her husband Bob. We have cruised with them many times and they have been with us on all of the special times on the Oosterdam. So when I talk about what we have been doing it will most likely be including them as well.

I had a sleepless night on Thursday night and last night I got just a bit more sleep after I got up about midnight after tossing and turning to read for about 30 minutes, then went back to bed and slept till that darn alarm went off at 4:30.

Now we are at McCarren airport waiting for our short flight to San Diego.

Our ride to the airport was the normal via our limo of our son and I am not proud that limo is a 2001 Dodge Neon:eek: But hey at least it was running this morning and he does not have car payments. The animals of the house were all not very thrilled but knew it was coming since I have had the luggage out for a few days but they do all love our son and he will be staying at the house watching all of them while we are gone.

As I mentioned this will make our 25th Holland American cruise and for the first time ever the Upgrade Fairy actually visited us, now we have seen and know very well her sister the Upsell Fairy many times but this is the very first time the magic wand was waved on us and I cannot tell you how absolutely thrilled we are. I will be reporting Live from Corner Aft 8147 :D

Well, I better sign off for now to get this posted since we will need to start boarding very soon.

Signing off from Mc Carren Airport.

Thanks for taking us along with you once again Lisa, I just wish we could be with you in person! An upgrade to 8147 - how wonderful for you . . . you're going to love it!!! We had an aft corner on our last cruise (as you well know!), and were thrilled to be there. Safe travels to you, Tom, and localady and her hubby as well.

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

Lisa, you snagged a corner... hooray for you! Have a great time, and if you have any luck in the casino, maybe you can upgrade that Neon! Say 'hey' to Joel & Bonnie next Friday for me!

Lisa, am looking forward to your live.

We have sailed on the Oosterdam four times. Just signed up for the Hawaii cruise in January. It will be interesting doing this on HAL. We took this cruise

with Princess and Celebrity several times.I like the hours spent in port on this cruise because actually will be able to attend Luai's in two ports.

Have a wonderful time on one of my favorite ships.

I will be watching the wave this afternoon.

Regards,

Gloria:D

I pray you make it, safe and sound, and with plenty of time to spare. Thankfully, San Diego is an easy port ... you can see the ship terminal from the airport and it's a fast ride by taxi.

Have a great cruise, and I will look forward to all your reports. This is one cruise we have considered, but the number of sea days in a row has put us off a bit. So I will be looking for all the details and info you post!:D
