is going on a cruise boring to you at some point>

We find some portions of the cruise to be boring:

For example, we find eating in the MDR seven nights in a row becomes too routine. However, this isn't a problem: Other options exist, so we enjoy the MDR perhaps four nights during the cruise and seek out other venues for the remaining three.

My husband really does not enjoy the shows, so we don't bother with most of them. Likewise, neither of us enjoys things like the Belly Flop contest or Quest.

NONE of these are problems because other options exist for us.

Overall, are we bored on a cruise? NO WAY! We've never found ourselves saying, "Well, we've done everything. Nothing is left." We can always lie by the pool and read, go to the casino, or just go back to the cabin for some kids-aren't-here-time.

No not boring to us, there is just too much to do on these ships now. I mean yeah we stroll through the "Royal Promenade" a thousand times but even that doesn't get boring. Sometimes we stop off for a drink in the pub and sometimes we stop off at the sports bar and sometimes we stop off at the cafe promenade.

I will say this, we never ever do a full cruise worth of MDR, usually we do two nights of Portofino. #1 we like to break up where we dine and #2 Portofino food is AWESOME. We do like the shows in the theater. There is something cool about watching a well done show in a huge theater on a huge ship as the ship slices through the ocean. There is something really cool about that. Also the theaters on these ships are gorgeous rooms in general with incredible sound.

I mean with Royal Caribbean you get a Ice skating rink for gods sakes, well at least on a lot of the ships and on "Explorer" which is the ship we sale on. My question is how can you get bored on a cruise? I did not mention 1 thousand other rooms and things to do. Dam now I want to book "Explorer" again, NOW. I always talk myself into this!

I have only been on 2 cruises, with a 3rd booked, but we can only cruise once a year due to work/kids in school, so it is kind of that treat each year which we spend ages getting excited for, what the entire year leads up to, and when it comes to it is better than I ever expected, since I have sort of 'forgotten' what it is like to be on a cruise ship.

I think that maybe if we cruised more often I would probably be less excited for it, and each cruise would just be another added to the pile, not leave the same impression on me as it does now, but I would never get bored of it.

We've been on 11 cruises in 6 1/2 years and have two more booked. We find nothing boring about it and look forward to each as if it were our first. We love just relaxing. We don't always have to have something new to do.

Just got back from 30 days on the Ocean Princess with 17 sea days. It was wonderful. Never got board. Would have loved to stay on for the next 28 days.

Paul welcome back I missed you .As far as boring I would get bored with the same ports all the time (Caribbean) but if you try to go almost everywhere the ships go ,you wont get bored.

Maybe not bored, but sometimes I'm ready for home if we have 3 sea days from Spain to Southampton, and the weather's poor....

Mainly I'm bored with any flight longer than 4 hours or so, getting to and from a cruise in the first place.

Jo.

Thanks for the welcome.

We haven't done a Caribbean cruise in years. We have hit a few ports their on Panama Canal and Amazon cruises. The recent one was from Singapore to Cape Town. We had a fabulous time.

Look at our signature and you can tell we love to cruise or we wouldn't still be doing it. Normally, we can make our own fun by chatting with others. :)

:o Still, will have to admit, there are times when we've been somewhat bored on some ships. Honestly, we weren't the only ones. One older gentleman told us he'd had more fun at funerals than on this ship. :D

:( Big time bored is having a cabin mate with noro and staying in that cabin for 48 hours. I'd have gone nuts if we had not had a balcony when DH had noro.

While we totally enjoy cruising, we can certainly understand that some don't.

DW and I never get bored. We have our 8th cruise planned and cant wait for it to begin. All 8 cruises have been to tropical locations. Getting away from it all, a nice relaxing week or sometimes two away from all the madness in warm sunshine is wonderful. Never a dull moment, make the cruise what you want it to be, your the boss, nobody tells you what you have to do and cant do.

Bored? Am experienced traveler but my first "real" cruise will be in December in the Caribbean. I'm not very enthused about performances or gambling; Sue and I have easy access to them locally - we live in Anaheim not very far from Hollywood.

Am surprised there is little discussion (maybe I just haven't found it) of shore events, ie. sightseeing (not shopping), SCUBA, America's Cup boat rides, etc.

Thanks for any advice - and I'll keep exploring this website.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

We don't gamble and rarely go to the shows. We do go to the enrichment talks. Most are very good. Some aren't, so those we don't go back to. We play bridge, so that keeps us busy many seaday afternoons. Thru the Roll Call, we go onto the ship with guite a few friends. We take mostly private tours planned on the Roll Call, so we tour with the same group of people.

If I am on a ship, I am happy. That simple. Went six weeks on a freighter with only 4 other passengers, no activities, loved every single moment. If it doesn't fit in a backpack, I don't want to own it; if it isn't rocking and rolling on top of the ocean, I don't wanna live there. (BUT, I may not count, because I am never bored on land, either. Watch one "nature show" on tv and discover tears coursing down your face with wonder. How could I EVER be bored with a planet like this one? (Not to mention all those funny people to watch and love!) Enjoy every moment of your life. It goes by WAY too fast.:o:o
