Martini bar with classic drink package

This is our experience on five different Celebrity cruises over the last 2 years. You can get BASIC martinis at the Martini Bar with the Classic package at no additional charge. This includes Appletinis and gin/vodka martinis. They will be served in smaller martini glasses and you cannot call for a specific brand of spirits (which is the same martini you can order at most of the other lounges on board). You will get the house spirit whatever that might be at the time. Just ask the bartender what martini is available with the Classic package. You can also order mixed cocktails at the Martini Bar with the Classic package.

On our last cruise, I upgraded to the Premium package the last 2 days of the cruise for $20, just to give the Premium package a try. I upgraded just my package and not my wife's which was okay with the F&B Manager. They did swipe our Seapass cards when ordering at any lounge. For me, the Premium package is not worth the extra $10 per day, for others it might make sense.

I did order the Anniversary Martini with the souvenir martini glass last month with the Premium package. I had to pay full price for it, which I think was $18 but don't remember exactly, but it did include a nice glass for my home bar.

Often, we would have wine with dinner. Frequently, the Sommelier in Blu would give us a wine off the Premium list (with our Classic package) because "you are our guests here in Blu" or "none of our classic wines goes well with what you are ordering" as he would say. He always gave us something that was smashing with our entre and he would check back often to see if we were completely satisfied. When it was time for desert, he would come back again and ask what we were ordering and he would bring us yet another wine to pair with that. Top, top, top notch service!

They did have the Enomatic(?) wine dispensers in Cellar Masters aboard Solstice last month but they were not operational. The Concierge said they were going to be removed when in drydock later in October, with no plans to replace them with anything else.

Love Celebrity!

All the martinis at the Martini Bar are different prices. From memory, none would be included in the Classic Package and you would have to pay full price. Best bet is to upgrade to Premium. I've just done that for a 14 night cruise next month and it cost £254 for the pair of us. Well worth it if you like the Martinis, cocktails etc. Literally no drinks bill at the end of the cruise!!

Have fun

I had a classic package on the Equinox last fall. At the Martini Bar they said I would have to pay the full price for a martini; no option of a small martini. I think this may be like many other things--it all depends on who you are doing business with, in this case the bartenders.

We've always had the Premium Package but had friends that had the Classic and they asked for one of the classic martinis and had no issue, until May on Eclipse when we said to some cruise friends they could get a classic Martini so they asked and were made to feel second rate guests and firmly told no. In Sep on Eclipse this also seemed to be the situation. I don't mind X having restrictions but when they are arbitrary it really annoys me.

This has always been an issue....lack of consistency on classic package drinks at the martini bar. Trust me, there is no consistency....they may or may not serve you a martini on the classic package. Yes, they have the smaller glasses available, but every cruise is different. We have seen them turn folks away; we have seen them serve any of the mixed martinis in a smaller glass and call it "on the classic package", we have seen them serve a choice of 4 martini's for those on the classic package (cosmo, standard, apple and one other which I forget).

There is no way to know what you will encounter on your cruise. There is apparently no official policy on this....so it's every bartender for themselves.

This is correct from our experience

We have had the classic package on a number of cruises and whether or not they would serve a smaller sized 'basic' martini depended very much on the mood of the martini bar staff. My understanding is that the 'rules' are that you can be served one of the smaller and basic martinis but some staff have been reluctant to do it. Some are simply show-offs who like to cater to a martini bar clique and really don't want to be bothered serving the basic package. We were told by one of them 'if you want a martini here you should upgrade your package'

I'm not saying all, not even most, but some martini bar staff don't make it easy for you if you are on the basic package.

:D Chocolate martinis are the best!

I think I'm getting a handle on this...but there is one question that remains....does anyone know the going price for martinis?

I'm considering getting the premium pkg and not having any hassles....and taking advantage of the sale that Celebrity is having...

They are good, but try a "Milky Way". You will think you died and went to heaven...:D

This has been our observation over the past few cruises. We typically upgrade to premium for the Martini Bar. It seems early in the cruise when they are trying to upsell from classic to premium the answer is no to the smaller martinis. A few days in, we observe them serving the smaller ones. I do wish there was a consistent policy. The inconsistency is a bit annoying to those that do upgrade only to observe later in the cruise exceptions being made.

Last Sept on the silhouette we could order martinis at the martini bar on our classic drinks package. This Sept on the Reflection we could't, but we could order martinis at most other bars on t he classic package.

I think that as the martini bar is a popular venue and people want to drink there...they have bumped the price accordingly :(

I would wager that if you tip cash, you will have no issue with the classic. ;)

How much of a tip do you think it would take? If you tip up front before being served it's a bribe not a tip. If you tip/bribe each night you may as well just upgrade the package.

I regularly ordered dirty martinis in the Martini Bar. They were in the small glasses; but not an issue at all.

This has not been our experience on 5 Celebrity cruises on three different ships over the last two years. We have been able to get small martinis at the Martini Bar with the Classic package from day one.

Usually DH will tip a dollar or two after being served. They can keep that cash as their own. Sometimes they spilt with tips.

DH mostly drinks only beer. I am not fussy about my drinks.

We always find a bartender we really enjoy would takes care of us. ;)

We just go to the casino bar for a "small" martini and back into the Martini bar to socialize. Works on classic package since these are not the premium martinis. Also notice the set price for the martini bar martinis changes depending on where in the world you are, I think? It is sometimes $12, sometimes $13, it has been $14 and $15 and $12.50. Except for the 20 year or other "SPECIAL" martini, though, all the martinis are the same price.

On Silhouette in 2011 we were not even served in the Martini Bar with the Classic package. We were made to feel inferior by the crew. We never went back in there again.

Is this changed? Can we order something that our package covers, or do they only serve Martinis still?

I've read that the Silent Party is held in there and we'd like to take part.

Thank You.

On the constellation now with the Premium package. Asked for a small martini, the bartender stated that all the small glasses were removed from the bar and they have been instructed not to make classic package martinis and to instruct customers to utilize other bars where they could get Classic package martinis. Luckily I had the Premium package included in my fare so I had to have a large one [emoji6]The Martini Bar has been packed every night.

Now that is bad news for us, since we will be on the Connie next week.

I've sat at the Martini Bar having a Martini (not included in my Classic Package and I paid for it) and my husband has had Jack Daniels on the Classic Package. So you certainly can order drinks other than martinis at the Martini Bar. Gin and tonic, etc.

Thank you, Helen. That was NOT the case when we sailed.
