Fun thread, Kazu! Seems we've been too serious lately. :(

1 of 4 - your comment on the chocolate diamonds touched a nerve with me -- how innocent questions end up stirring all kinds of negativity.

Goes like this:

OP: My TA told me HAL is going to place freshly baked apple pies in all the staterooms on embarkation day. Has anyone else heard about this?

Poster #2: What kind of apples?

#3: I am allergic to apples. I don't want the pie in my room.

#4: Are they going to give us plates and a pie slicer?

#5: We'll need forks too.

#6: Oh, I am so tired of hearing about allergies. Get a life.

#7: I am diabetic and I can't eat pie. I might see if I can get OBC instead.

#8: I wish it were chocolate pie.

#9: Who is your TA? My TA didn't say anything about pie.

#10: Allergies are serious. I have an allergy to peanuts.

#11: Good thing it's not peanut butter pie then.

#12: I suppose this means prices are going to go up.

#13: Do suite guests get a better kind of pie?

#14: What kind of apple pie - Dutch apple pie? This is too vague.

#15: Can't wait to enjoy it on the balcony while I smoke.

#16: If you're smoking on the balcony, I'll have to eat my pie in my room.

#!7: Not another smoking thread.

#18: The smell of apple pie bothers me.

#19: The OP has only 125 posts. Methinks it is a troll.

#20: I just talked to HAL customer service and was told it's a cherry pie.

:D:D:D:D:D

DH must have his apple pie warm, with a slab of cheddar cheese on top of it. I, on the other hand, will only eat my pie if it is cold. Do you think HAL can accommodate us or should we look at a more upscale cruise line? We paid a lot of money for our Neptune Suite and I think we deserve individual special request pies.

Love this discussion and having a good laugh at ourselves.

Perhaps we should all make a pact, that the next time a thread starts to get ugly, mean and out of hand, one of us should post a link back to this thread as a reminder.

Sometimes we just have to lighten up.

As others have repeated many times before..."it's a cruise!! Lets just enjoy it."

DW and I snorted in unison at this. Thank you. :)

Will the apple pie be on my pillow instead of that fake chocolate that replaced the good chocolate when I come into my stateroom in the evening? I sure hope so, but I really would like mine with ice cream which would melt if I go to the piano bar at 9:00. Lordy...this is such a dilemma. Guess I'd better have another martini and think it over!

Thanks for the laughs tonight!:D

My husband prefers my scratch apple pie to commercially prepared pies. Do you think I could get an OBC if I brought my own pie? I could bring a second pie for the cabin steward in place of a tip.

Way too funny to read just before bed...the only thing I could add is

#21: I can't stand the smell of apples so only people on the port side get apple pie, the starboard side gets gluten free lemon meringue on paper plates

Oh My I'm laughing so much & now I'm hungry!

Going into the kitchen to get a slice of "Blueberry pie with Ice cream & whipped cream"..

Hope HAL makes this for me on our next cruise!

Kazu thanks for the fun thread.. I know I'm one to get carried away, especially when I believe someone posts misinformation! (sp?) It's the school teacher in me that comes out even though I was never a school teacher..:o

Wish I could be more like you Kazu!

Inside cabins just get apple sauce and a cookie. :( NOT FAIR!!!

Since as a solo I have to pay double, I should get two pieces of pie!

you can opt for an upsell, 2 pieces of apple pie can be upgraded to a piece of chocolate pie with extra chocolate toppings! :D

Or, you may forfeit your Explore4 for 1 piece of apple pie without ice cream.

#29 My aft wrap neighbour sits out there 24/7 eating apple pie, and the smell is driving me back into my cabin.

If you bring your own pie on board it will be confiscated by security/or you will be charged a corkage [pie pan] fee.

I had this cleared up by my on line TA
