From what we've read, RCL is doing the same type of bus shuttle for Quantum until the parking garage is finished!

Doing Dec 12 Enchantment followed by Dec 15 Legend. Quantum is in port for a day stop, where will they put her? I believe we are embarking from 10, hoping to debark as well

All I have experience with is the Grandeur. When she makes a port call in Port Canaveral, she is over "on the other side" from where the ships are embarking.

I don't know pier numbers at PC; that's the best that I can do. ;)

Only 3 ships in port that day, and there are 4 terminals. No problem.

Last time I saw Grandeur, also 1st time, it was east of new terminal where the casino ship boards

We just got off the Explorer this morning...what a mess, anyhow for what it is worth, we were told by a port employee that the new dock now will not be ready until the middle of January. Terminal & parking garage are ready.

Thanks for the update. I'm starting to wonder it Explorer will be able to use the new terminal before she leaves for dry dock.

Thank you so much CC comunity. We are sailing the Freedom/Explorer "B2B" and transfer ships on January 4. Our parking plans were up in the air but after reading this thread, we will definitely use off site parking, especially as we may need to get to the car in between cruises.

Thanks.

If some one could please give me some info about the 11/15 Explore sailing. I have read that embarking the ship was not good. I would like to know what time PAX got there and how long you had to wait. I read that PAX had a long wait.

Disembarking I also read was not good. Would like to know about this too. How bad was it for you if you parked off site?

It took us an hour to get from the Country Inn&Suite on their shuttle to terminal 10. There we joined the "priority line" which stretched all the way back to the bus unloading area I would guess probably 500 people. We stood there approx 3 hours as they would only let 3-5 people in the door at a time. BTW the regular lines were moving much faster. After several people had medical problems requiring the need of medical assistance RCCL finally brought water out followed by the port personnel offering bottled water. At no time were we told what the holdup was although there were several rumors being thrown around.

Debarkation: As Diamond Plus our departure location was deck 3 of the Palace Theater tags 1&2 scheduled departure was 9:30 to 9:45, we went out on schedule, unfortunately several people with higher number decided to go out with us. The baggage claim area in Terminal (carnival terminal) is a large room with numbered tables, once you found your luggage you then had to go the the porter return door and grab a porter as they came back in..real shortage of porters. It was @10:30 when we finally left the hotel homeward bound.

If the new terminal opens on the 27th as scheduled, RCL will have two operational terminals, so unless there is another ship scheduled for the old RCL terminal, you should arrive at the same terminal you left from. The ship that would be affected would be the FOS cruise that leaves on the 21st and returns on the 28th.

We are on this cruise. Always part at the port but thinking of parking off site. We can then avoid this and also save money. Can someone tell me the best place to park off site. We will be heading south from Atlanta.

Jim, what time were you trying to embark? What time did you leave the CI&S - which I assume should be a short trip under normal circumstances. What time did you actually join the arrival lines?

I live very close, and will be dropped off, I'm thinking maybe 12:30, 1-ish should be calmer.

Food is low on my list of reasons to cruise, so I am not one who needs to bolt immediately up to the buffet to eat and wait for the cabin.

I do prefer, however, to not stand in line for 3 hours to check in.

Thanks for you report.

The problem may only occur when two Royal Caribbean ships are in port, before Dec 27th. I believe that the new Terminal 1 is supposed to be in operation on Dec 27th, and if so, they should not have any issues with changing terminals.

That is the date I also read the new terminal would be operational. This is the live Web Cam of the new RCCL terminal in Port Canaveral, I have been watching the progress over the past couple of months.

I read on one of our roll calls that the terminal won't be ready until mid January.

We use park n cruise, right off road 528 just a few minutes from the port. We've used them several times and among other things we like, the are on the way home, saving us a few minutes of the 8 hour drive.

We left the Country Inn on the 11AM shuttle because of backup traffic we didn't get to Terminal 10 until noon, I heard that the traffic eventually backed all the way to Cocoa Beach, however this was the exception not normal.

I would like to think that this was a unusual event we have done many cruise out Of PC and we always come down the day before then take a hotel shuttle to the ship pretty much the same time frame(11-11:30) never had the delay happen...Jim

Hi fellow cruisers: I have also heard from several that the Dec. 27th. Pier 1 opening will be delayed. The west side of terminal as well as the terminal & garage are not the problem. The entire east side is all dirt , and the pier wall is being poured, but has close to 50% to go. The dredging continues and the pier wall has to be completed before the final dock apron can be poured. Bob

We were on the 11-15 Explorer cruise. This by far was the worst boarding we ever have experienced. We arrived (never got an email stating what time to arrive) around 11am. Lines were going every which way. They kept on moving us and others to different lines. Finally on the last line I refused to move. They told me it was the diamond and diamond plus line and I told them that there own staff put us here and this time I wasn't moving. It just wasn't us that they moved there.

We watched several people pass out along with a gentlemen that split his head open. Finally they brought out some water. We never got on board till almost 3pm. By the time we did get on I was in so much pain from standing in line that basically the first two days of the cruise was ruined as I was in pain.

Even though this happened and I know its not the norm, we had a wonderful cruise minus all the people complaining on board. I swear I have never seen so many people complaining about every single thing. One guy complained that there was not enough food choices in the Windjammer. This whole thing about complaining to get something for free is sad. A cruise is what you make of it. Things happen and they try to do their best.

All this said I would still do it again in a heartbeat as the crew was the best we have ever had and she was and is a beautiful ship!

Wonder if the terminal will be ready for our 2-22-2015 FR cruise. Terminal and parking look nice so I will be glad to use it. We are on EX for 12-4-2014 so hope they clear up the problems that affected embarkation and disembarkation.
