Dear Santa... A Wish List for the NEW Celebrity Ships

I think there are many great wish list items here. Just like with Santa, we don't always get what we want, so don't get your hopes up too high and then be disappointed later :)

Many of the most popular wish list items simply aren't going to happen on a modern mainstream cruise ship with 3000 passengers, or one that Celebrity builds anyway.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

A lot of good suggestions here.

My wish would be for cabins similar in design to M class cabins with decent closets and drawer space and bathrooms like the S class.

I'd also like to see some 2BR/2bath cabins with some common space. The bedrooms don't need to be huge, just large enough for beds & good storage. Bath(s) could be a Jack & Jill design--shower in the middle used by both, separate toilet and sink areas for each bedroom. Common area with table for eating and two comfortable chairs for reading/visiting. This sort of design would be attractive for two women or men traveling together and would be something different which would be unique to Celebrity.

I think it's time to re-think the main dining room. I'm just off 14 days on the Constellation. Service in select dining was terrible--slow and indifferent. First time I have not been happy with the food in the MDR. So we resorted to the specialty restaurants and room service. More smaller restaurants with good service and good food would be greatly appreciated.

And all balconies which have room for footstools should have them.

Here's a wish list that I'm sure Celebrity has for us

I cashed in my future cruise certificates with Princess today

I won't need them :p

Just keep doing it really really well Celebrity

(Ps I love Princess too, but X better:D )

I agree with

T- Pool

third set of elevators

more casual dining rooms (not buffet) like Bistro on Five only included in price

replace the lawn and cabanas with loungers with space between them so you could actually get in and out of them easily

clothes line in shower (love the glass doors)

would prefer higher quality over quantity of food available

better entertainment-- not broadway type song & dance shows

better night stands with more outlets

I saved some money on Princess with their self serve laundry but I lost good vacation time searching floor to floor to find machines that were available. Too much late night laundry time-- don't think I would do it again.

This has been fun to think about

First in response to the person to ban smoking. Carnival tried that and it was a disaster for them. What they should do is create a smokers lounge, where people could smoke without bothering non smokers. RCCL has them on Voyager and Freedom class. The one difference I would recommend is no smoking anywhere else on the ship. They can easily put in a filtration system like RCCL, so the odor doesn't leave that room which should also be a bar. By the way, I smoke cigars, and would gladly accept those conditions.

I think you can bet cruise lines will try this again eventually. It was a disaster for Carnival but that was over 10 years ago. The timing wasn't right. I think you would have ships sailing full now with smoke-free policies.

I never thought pubs or restaurants or airplanes or whatever, would be able to survive smoke free but they all have.

We've recently booked the inaugural TA on RCCL's Anthem of the Seas, and so I've been reading up on their new Quantum class. It seems like some of the "wish list" items on this thread for the new Celebrity builds have been incorporated into the Quantum.

I've particularly noted folks commenting on handy electrical outlets by the nightstands, and it's clear from photos that the closets (in the balcony cabins at least) are perpendicular to the bed and thus far more accessible than they are on the S-class, where you have to squeeze in between the bed and closet or sofa and closet.

I would really LOVE a single cup coffee maker, like a Nespresso which has a tiny footprint, in at least some of the cabins...it would be a great incentive to get me to book Concierge Class, for which there is very little reason to book on an S class ship any more.

I like a freshly made, steaming hot cup of coffee in the morning and hate to get up, showered and get dressed in order to get one from Café al Bacio. Celebrity has certainly improved the coffee provided via room service over the years, but I would be thrilled to get a freshly brewed cup in my cabin when I want one.

If Celebrity can provide kettles to the Brits sailing on the Eclipse out of Southampton, surely they can provide coffee makers to North Americans. :p

And if NCL can provide coffee makers in cabins, well......:D

I too love my early morning cuppa, but mines tea, so I too would vote for kettles in the cabins.

Uncluttered main pool area. It seems that every new ship across all the lines are shrinking the main pool areas and there is limited sunning areas directly by the pools. My favorite part of a cruise is lying by the pool and it is getting increasingly more difficult due to pool area space being used for other gimmicky features to sell the ships.

I searched "mast grill" but came up blank, so forgive me if this suggestion's been made previously...

It would be great if the hamburger/hot dog grill could be located close to the OV café as it is on the M-class ships. On the s-class ships it's such a long walk from the Mast Grill back to the buffet that the food gets chilled by the time I get there to meet up with family who aren't in a burger mood.

Hi Folks

And of course is time to bite the bullet and make the ship totally non smoking

Nothing would make me happier. Nothing. What an astoundingly good idea.

On a lesser level, night stands, not shelves, a big drawer for the desk (unlike the M-class), more plugs (love the USB idea) and a volume control in all lounges that doesn't go past 6 (the level where you can still hear the music but also hear the conversation you are in.:D

I would like to see:

1. Cabins and suites for SINGLES.

2. Two-bedroom cabins/suites

3. BETTER mini-fridges in ALL cabins

4. IMPROVED internet. What you currently have SUCKS to high heaven.

5. A less windy location at the AFT of the ship for smokers to enjoy their cigarettes and/or cigars. Making the ship SMOKE-FREE would not be an option. A nearby bar, plenty of seating with tables, is a MUST. What is currently on Constellation is totally absurd....

The ability to turn the air conditioning OFF in the rooms, I know temperature can be adjusted but I have never been in a ship where the system can be turned to off like in a hotel room. I am sure that bugs can circulate in the air con systems, also fan sound would be shut off.

A lounge for suite guests so us mere mortals can have Michael's Club back again

I stayed in an RS in August and thought Michael's club was a ridiculous waste of space. I went there once or twice and it was empty.

I would like a "regular" bar, but not quite a "Dive" bar. No exclusivity, and any passengers can roll on in for good times. Think of a cool neighborhood bar, but it's on a ship. You know, one with a couple of pool tables, maybe a dart board, electronic jukebox, etc...that would equate to Modern Luxury to me. Then again, I prefer the simple things in life.

On S-class ships, opening the balcony sliding door will automatically shut off the airco.

As a result you can safely sleep with the door open and not messing up the system.

Thanks, I will try that when I'm on Eclipse next year.

I truly hope that RCI just look at all these suggestions. The total cruise days accumulated by all contributors of this thread must be in the hundreds of thousands.

My dream ship?

An endless pool

An Ifly (best thing I have ever done)

Sports bar

Adults only

Pools pools and more pools

A swim up bar

An eject button on deck chairs that automatically flush into the ocean when chairs are left with :&$@ on.

DD that works

Non smoking, or better ventilation (see Quantum's casino that was polluted

within days of maiden)

Cabins are generally good...sure a bit small but completely manageable.

Just a wish list.
