Diamond members ( Free Drinks )

Is that what used to be the Aquarium bar?

I do not know the previous name. It is right outside mdr deck 4. Only bar on deck 4 besides the casino bar.

Weather has been mostly nice except for yesterday going into tracey arm. Lots of fog so we had to wait for it to lift. Because of that we only had a brief half hour stay looking at the glacier. Saw a lot of baby seals though.

Huh?? Wow, we didn't know that. Thanks!

"Huh" is right. That's not correct. In the Diamond Lounge everything is unlimited (from a list and/or what they're willing to make you) but everything counts towards the 3 sea pass drinks when you're using those outside of the DL.

Yes, this was the Aquarium bar before Explorer's drydock and refurbishment.

My experience there was that "everyone" was using this bar to get their drinks to carry into the MDR, and the bartenders were heartily sick of it. (I am guessing because many didn't tip, since he brightened up when I offered him cash with my request)

Good news. I'd wonder if that applies to the rising tide, but no sense worry about it, it's 666 days till I see a Rising Tide bar again. The rules will probably change by then. I guess they don't want it to turn into a mobile Diamond lounge :)

It's just the Harmony (not Oasis and Allure) that exclude the Rising Tide Bar from the use of the vouchers.

Yes i see a lot of people getting drinks from the bar. I happily tip a $1 per drink using my vouchers. Have not seen any difference of service when they see me vs other guests. Although in the d lounge i have had great service from harly and roy. Have our drinks ready before we even sit down. Refills without even asking. Best service in a d lounge i have ever experienced maybe because lounge only having 20 to 30 people in there at a time.

As you said: Few top tier cruisers on your voyage. Fewer people bothering the staff of the Tavern. ;)

I'd guess it's the lack of people as well. Two years ago on Freedom (our first cruise as Diamond) there were an abnormally low # of Diamond and above aboard and the DL was so empty we got to know one server extremely well. She couldn't have been nicer. DW doesn't really drink so she invented some fruity concoction with whatever she had handy (including some sort of fruit puree) and tossed in a little vodka. DW became a nightly drinker that week. :) This woman was so nice and it was so empty that she even sat down with us to chat on several occasions. Needless to say, we gave her a generous tip at the end of the week.

Earlier this month in a crowded Oasis DL, the service was perfectly fine, but nothing personal as the servers were too busy constantly going back and forth with drinks (they did nothing wrong, they just had a full room to attend to). It made us miss that previous experience but we figured it wasn't going to be the norm.

Well crowded lounge is the norm not the exception. Although as you have stated the service has been fine in an extremely crowded venue. Just that this time on explorer i got to feel what an uncrowded dl feels like. Also the service couldn't have been better. I have only experienced crowded lounges and this is the first time i have encountered such personal experience.

Bottled water has been available for d drink since feb 2017. I know it was not on the allowed drinks list in nov 2016. So it was officially listed between nov and feb of this year. Bottled water was hit or miss before being officially placed on the drink list.

I am not sure what you *think* you are saying, but................

Just in case anyone is confused by your post:

The drinks don't have to be "mixed". The list is merely the brands of liquor that are available. They can be in many different kinds of drinks, but no "fancy" or "blender" drinks. You can, for instance, get a cosmo and (usually) a lemon drop. You can also have scotch straight up.

Almost every ship now has a Diamond Lounge, and even those that do not are treating some designated area as the DL. That means that you are no longer limited to wine & champagne for free.

The three drink vouchers are in addition to any drinks that you may have in the Diamond Lounge; no one scans your card in the DL.

If you are Diamond and have a Replenish package can you get a shot of liquor in your frozen drink using one of your free drinks loaded on your card?

The shot is on the card regardless of what else you buy. How that shot makes its way into any other drink is probably dependent on the bar tender.

My wife never carries her sea pass card.......to get into the Diamond Lounge, does a couple have to show both cards or is one card sufficient!! We are Diamond!!

It seems to vary from ship to ship. I was just able to buzz in on Allure no check of my card and anyone could walk in behind me. On Anthem, they checked everyone's card first night and not afterward. They overflowed into the music Hall. I was quite surprised how small the D lounge was on Anthem.

  • 3 months later...

Our last RC cruise was 4 years ago and I gather since then 3 drinks per night are added to the seapass. ... presumably to cut down on the overcrowding in the DL.

I was wondering if there are any other significant changes I should know about before our next cruise on the Brilliance OTS from Barcelona next Monday.

Thanks

I'll be on Rhapsody in a couple of weeks, first time as a D. What are my chances of getting cans of soda, instead of a glass, at a bar of course? I plan on putting my drinks in my fridge and enjoy them later on.

Cindy

We've gotten cans of soda using our D drink vouchers.

When you are a diamond member how many free drinks do you get and do they have to be taken during certian hrs and in a certian bar or room on the ship?

Thanks in advance

Free select spirits and wine & champagne between 5:30-8:30pm in either Diamond Lounge or bars.

It depends on the number of Diamonds and if the ship has a Diamond lounge. But generally, there are 3 drinks loaded onto your card. They are for most bars (Not specialty restaurants or the MDR). And only for certain drinks (those that would be served in the Diamond Lounge/event).

The D/Lounge also has happy hour (approx 5-8) with hors d'oeuvres and the same drinks. And it's a fairly good list, not limited to just beer and wine (thought the beer and wines are limited in selection). You can have as many as you care to, but usually you cannot take them out of the lounge. Which is inconsistently applied and enforced.

Wines are very limited 2 reds, 2 whites, and a white zin. If you like wine at all the wine selection is awful but the price is right.
