They changed because it was Bailey's in the CL and at the bars during our November trip. Also Bailey's in both areas on the Serenade last month. I think the Bailey's was a welcomed addition for many of us.

As long as it is something like Bailey's I will survive.:D

Dec 15 voyage. Bars had Bailey's, General store had Bailey's. DL & CL had something else. I'm sure it was a cost saver. :o

Yes, there are some that call it a very rude and gross name. I prefer to just ask for the ingredients as most bar tenders would know it by differing names depending on where they are from.:D

Agree Mic.

My favourite is Sex on the beach, but I am too embarrassed to ask for it.

I ask for Vodka & peach schnapps & pineapple juice.:p

Usually the waiter will say, oh you want Sex on the Beach?

Sorry, not in CL or DL.:D

Sorry, I mean the drink, not the sex.

My favorite too!! Too bad peach schnapps isn't on the list for vouchers!! My husband laughed at that since peach schnapps is a crazy inexpensive liquor. Hoping a big tip to a bartender first night might get me my "sex" for the cruise:D. I used to get funny comments from bartenders with this drink order....now that I am approaching 50 and the waist line has expanded, not so much!! :p

  • 1 month later...
I have NEVER been told "no" for a Cosmo, on any ship.

So last week on Independence I went to Bolero's and sure enough I was told no Cosmopolitan. Now, knowing something about the workings of RCI Miami I decided to apply that knowledge and walked through the casino to the Schooner bar where, what do you know, the answer was YES. So I gave the bar tender a tip (to help ensure that the answer did not change as the week went on) and he very happily took care of all of my C&A voucher drinks for the rest of the cruise. And I happily tipped him again at the end of the week.

Oh, and I did walk back through Bolero's with my Cosmo in hand and gave the bar tender a nice smile.

haha....I love it.

Someone else reported not being able to get a bloody mary on Serenade.

I think RCI should start standing for Royal Caribbean Inconsistencies

I cannot help but wonder if people being denied drinks with their C&A benefits are tipping up front? I have been on 4 cruises since they started this and have never been denied a drink of any kind. I also wrap a dollar bill around my seapass card, explain it's a C&A vouchered drink, and make my order.

I think there are still bartenders and servers that are reluctant to serve C&A vouchered drinks because they are not getting tipped. I did read here on CC that the tips are automatically coming up in the system when they enter the order, but I'm not positive of that.

I always tip the normal amount for each vouchered or DL/CL drink anyway (DL/CL at the end of the week), so if they get an additional amount from RCCL for the vouchered ones, that OK by me.

It depends on the number of Diamonds and if the ship has a Diamond lounge. But generally, there are 3 drinks loaded onto your card. They are for most bars (Not specialty restaurants or the MDR). And only for certain drinks (those that would be served in the Diamond Lounge/event).

The D/Lounge also has happy hour (approx 5-8) with hors d'oeuvres and the same drinks. And it's a fairly good list, not limited to just beer and wine (thought the beer and wines are limited in selection). You can have as many as you care to, but usually you cannot take them out of the lounge. Which is inconsistently applied and enforced.

On the 2/2 Quantum cruise, we ate at Jamie's Italian and ordered a beer and a specialty coffee (cappuccino). I mentioned to the waiter that as a D, my sea pass has a complementary specialty coffee loaded. He came back with the bill and lo & behold, the beer price came off. Wonder if because Vintages Bar was next door if the waiter went there and that is why the beer came off.

Also, on the Captain's question & answer session, someone asked the Hotel Manager if there any possibility that the 3 drinks would be available at restaurants as he was tired of taking drinks from the D lounge to the restaurants. The Hotel Manager reply was "it is under consideration." That would be a great perk.

I'm considering buying my own 757 like Donald Trump has. Of course this does not mean it will every happen.

We've only been in the Diamond Lounge...have not experienced

drinks loaded onto card, But if I get drink loaded on card and use it

in say, Schooner, will the cosmo be better than in Diamond lounge, where

sometimes it's not so good.

All I know is they were pretty damn good in the Schooner bar. I have never had on in the Diamond lounge. I try to avoid that place during peak times. This was my first cruise with the new voucher system. I really like it. We could go to trivia in the Schooner bar and have our drinks at the same time.

Same here, very convenient.:)

How would he have know if I was going to tip him up front or not? I don't tip when I order a drink. I tip when I get it. And with the vouchers it was easier for me to do it in lump sums. After I got my cosmo in the Schooner bar I handed him a tip and told him I'd like for him to take care of my C&A drinks this week. He seemed quite pleased and he had no idea that he would be getting more at the end of the week.

It initially had been my plan to use Bolero's all week but the guy lost out to the Schooner bar. It worked out much better for us as Bolero's is pretty dead during happy hour anyway. And I suspect the bar tender in the Schooner bar thinks it worked out just fine for him too.

That's what I'm saying: if you HAD tipped upfront in Bolero's, then he might have been more accommodating. The drink is free, and there's been a lot of discussion over the last 7+ months about people not tipping with the pre-loaded C&A drinks. So, some of the bar staff might be a little touchy about serving them, plus serving anything not on the list.

It's just a different dynamic. I just make sure they know they are getting their tip up front, and especially on the Vision, I had my choice of just about anything I wanted. I was on the Vision a few weeks after the whole voucher thing got rolled out, and there were some really bad reviews about the bar service with the vouchered drinks. So, I followed Merion Mom's advice and tipped when I ordered my free drinks, and the chocolate martinis rained upon us!!! :D
