Out to sea! Posted July 24, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Everyone is a hypocrite, just another part of the human condition. I doubt anyone would turn down the benefits on principal. I beg to differ. when our kids were small my wife and I turned down WIC benefits based on principal. Not everyone is shallow and out to grab anything they can get their hands on. gkbiiii Posted July 24, 2015 #27 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Just been on the phone to MSC in the UK and have been told this match is only available to US and Brazilian cruisers not those in the rest of the world. Apparently they are already getting complaints in the UK office. Not such clever marketing after all, if other people think like me it will give MSC a bad name in Europe. Julie Europe Status Match Update. Loyalty Match is available for: MSC USA:http://www.msccruisesusa.com/us_en/M...h-program.aspx MSC Germany:http://www.msc-kreuzfahrten.de/de_de...-Programm.aspx MSC Italy:http://www.msccrociere.it/it_it/MSC/...tus-Match.aspx MSC France:http://www.msccroisieres.fr/fr_fr/Of...tus-Match.aspx So far those are the only regions I could find that are offering Status Match at this time. Yes, I actually asked on the UK facebook page and they have replied that its a trial in certain countries and may become available in the UK at a later date. (bet it will be after our cruise though:D). Julie
gkbiiii Posted July 24, 2015 #29 Share Posted July 24, 2015 I should note a KEY fact: the prior MSC Club has been gutted: thus this is an attempt by MSC to bring in new people, to make up for possible lost business. SO the New Program, is NOTHING as generous as the previous one!! Example: Black Card 1. Cruise Discount cut from 20% to 5%. 2. Dinner with Captain cut. 3. Casino $20 voucher gone. 4. Stocked in-cabin bar discontinued. 5. Points EXPIRE in 1 1/2 years! 6. Earnings are greatly reduced in cheaper cabins. 7. Many other things as well, as described in the MSC forum. yogimax Posted July 24, 2015 #30 Share Posted July 24, 2015 I checked their benefits for their highest levels and they don't come close to what D and D+ receive with RCCL.

north29 Posted July 24, 2015 #32 Share Posted July 24, 2015 We have looked at several HAL cruises to more exotic destinations for really goooooooood deals on a pack an go site. My problem is that our bar bill after 30+ days would be more than the cruise. If another cruise line offered a itinerary that we liked and just offered a basic drink package(alcohol) we would probably book it.

greydog Posted July 24, 2015 #34 Share Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) 100% agree, of course this brings out the cruisers who cruise for points, levels, and status and those that don't read the terms and conditions:p "Conversion will be executed by MSC Cruises based on objective criteria and may only be done once per consumer)." Yep that's right, once to get you on their cruise line and maybe you will come back. I think its a great idea to lure a new cruiser to try your ships I understand it only applies to 1st-time MSC cruisers. We did MSC Yacht Club last year on Divina from Miami (the ultra-suite customer they want) but won't get the 'loyalty conversion' they appear to be offering. Yacht Club was nice but expensive (includes liquor, concierge premium appetizers, etc.) - we will stick with our better cruise value with our Elite+ perks on Celebrity. HAPPY CRUISING Edited July 24, 2015 by greydog

Biker19 Posted July 24, 2015 #37 Share Posted July 24, 2015 MSC's bean counters must have done the math and concluded that the freebies they give away are more than made up by extra bookings and on board spending (or any loss of current MSC loyalty members upset over the giveaway). And if the product appeals to the customers they lure away, they could have a steady revenue stream from those customers.

Big_G Posted July 27, 2015 #40 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Seems kind of petty to get all worked up about how someone else got benefits. You know why you got them, who gives a dip why someone else has them??? With all the complaints about diminishing loyalty benefits on these boards, you really can't see why someone would care? George I'm thinking for 4 above a screen shot of your C&A profile page would suffice. It's got your C&A number and your status on it. I paste screen shots in a word document (turned into a pdf) for my travel agent whenever I find a price drop these days.

Considering many have 'paid' for a cruise and the benefits, I can see why almost anyone could get worked up over the benefits in the first place. Try us and your current level with them. That's exactly what MSC is doing. On one hand, I think it's a brilliant idea but on the other hand, I don't think I'd like RCI doing it. I'll admit, my dislike for RCI doing it would be for totally hypocritical reasons but hey, I'm not afraid to be honest. At the end of the day, I probably wouldn't really care. Paulette3028 Posted July 27, 2015 #50 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Having today received an email from MSC that tells me about their new Loyalty Match Program, which offers to match benefits of other cruise lines and hotel programs. I have to ask how people would feel if Royal attempted to do something similar.Personally I feel as if whilst it is a clever promotion, if other cruisers that had not sailed loyally with Royal got the same benefits as I do by gaining cruise points, then I would not be that impressed. I know that Royal have a partial program with Celebrity, but that is within the same group, what do you think ? Personally, I feel it is very clever, and I would not mind it as a way to encourage people who have never cruised on Royal to try it. I would NOT want them to be granted 'permanent' equal status based on what they cruised on another line....but a 'one time trial' for that first cruise....FINE with me. If it converts a cruiser from another line to Royal -- it then is a GREAT business move. If they never return on a Royal cruise -- it still was a good business move since Royal got their money one time, which was one time more than they had it previously.
