I started cruising with them because they had no MUTS.

I just found out were the first sailing out of dry dock and there will be MUTS on the deck.breaking.gif

I'm new here maybe other Celebrity ship have them, anyone as heartbroken as me to probably see them go fleet wide?

Sailed on many of the RCI ships that have giant screens above the pool deck and never been bothered by them nor tempted to watch the movies played.

From what I have seen of the changes to the Millenium class ships, the screens won't be on the pool deck, but a more secluded area, so hopefully won't impact me and so I wouldn't be upset by the enhancement. I'll have to reserve judgement until I know how they are to be utilised.

I have to say that due to the movies shown on Carnival and the provision of free popcorn, we did watch a couple on a recent sailing as it was more inviting than the programming we've experienced on RCI.

My DD and her family love this on Carnival. Never experienced it myself but won't be upset if it is in an area that does not necessarily impact those not wishing to participate. I guess I will have to wait and see.

We sailed on Eclipse 27th September to 10th October 2015 and one evening a screen was put up on the lawn area by the Hot Glass Studio to view Best Marigold Hotel 2. Not many stayed to watch it, mostly women as the Rugby was being shown inside the ship! I wouldn't be too bothered if it was available again. The screen wasn't as big as what I've seen on Princess.

Movie Under The Stars?

Sailed many a ship with these, and I've never watched one; nor has it ever impacted my cruise enjoyment in any way.

If it's after dark, I'm usually in the casino

I see you never sail carnival ship that has them. They have stuff on them it seems all day and when they do they play it so loud you cant talk to the person next to you.

We sailed Ruby Princess last January and found one pool area essentially unusable due to the LOUD!!!! MUTS presentations. However, we found the second pool area essentially unusable due to the LOUD!!!! music.

It's not the MUTS I object to, its the volume.

The MUTS, at least based on having them sail by our balcony, are very loud. We're pretty close to the ships when they pass us, but you can definitely hear the audio in our interior rooms. It's not really something we'd be fans of, but I can definitely see how it could pump up the entertainment value.

We really enjoyed MUTS on Princess. I will be on Silhouette this winter and it would be nice if they have something similar. I haven't been on Celebrity for awhile and I assumed MUTS was not something that was available. The Movies at night outside are a nice change over the same old shows in the Theatre. I can understand the noise being an issue for some but its never bothered me.

After reading about how many princess cruisers LOVED muts, we sailed on a ship that had it.

I found it impossible to follow the movie due to the number of people walking through the area, and those who talked constantly during the movie.

It's a great concept, but it disappointed me in the execution.

Im okay with Celebrity doing it, maybe the experience would be better there.

I'll be on the Infinity when it rolls out on December 5th. I'll post pictures. I'm looking forward to it. My husband and I watched the movies most nights on our Carnival Cruise last April.

It will keep us from our second cabin "the casino" and that may or may not be a bad idea.

I'm excited to have something else to do in the evening besides gamble. We're not big on the shows or dancing, so this is great. So far. We'll be one of the first to find out on the 5th.

MUTS represents the continued evolution of the Celebrity product in a direction that moves their target demographic beyond us.

Celebrity was a perfect fit for us when we first cruised with them in 2008. That has changed - it was gradual at first and I was in denial that there was something wrong with the relationship.

The Solstice class was initially a welcome addition to the Celebrity fleet. Their contemporary beauty made cruising special for us, especially in Aqua Class.

What we didn't realize initially was how Celebrity was forced to change their business model in order to fill those huge ships with paying passengers. Each new push for change on Celebrity's part was meant to increase the number of passengers as well as the amount those passengers spend while on board.

I understand this is a business decision and I do NOT hold Celebrity or Royal Caribbean in contempt for working to maximize their profits. They are, after all, a for-profit enterprise that needs to answer to its shareholders, of which I am one.

However, each successive Celebrity cruise (the latest being in May of this year) makes it clearer to me that the once cherished relationship we had is indeed over for good.

Where once we were motivated by our enchantment with Celebrity and their product, the sad truth (for them) is that itinerary and price will be the only drivers in determining whether we cruise on Celebrity in the future.

I couldn't agree with you more! There is no longer anything "special" about Celebrity. They are just running with the pack, so to speak. I have two cruises booked with them for next year but am thinking to cancel and move elsewhere.

Sad to hear this...I guess loud is in everywhere! Hard to escape from it....

we booked Ruby for a Coastal Ca cruise....it's for springtime and we booked mostly for the ports..luckily our mini suite is in between decks so we hope it has no impact on us whatsoever...

Previously X ships...M class or maybe before that.....had a nice small theater where they showed good movies and the popcorn was free.....it was nice to take a movie break or in rainy weather!

The outdoor ones will spew sound out at hi volumes...but I guess cruise line can make money from food/drinks...

Pretty sure they had this on Dream. Won't sail Carnival again, but that has nothing to do with MUTS.

They had movies on both Disney ships, running all day long. It was nice, if one wanted to sit by the pool and follow along on an old movie.

Could not tell you which ships have had them and which ships haven't; but it's nice for passing the pool during the day. At night, usually the deck is quieter and would make it easier to follow along, if one had nothing else to do. I like during the day when they run CNN or other news shows and are running news headlines or market news.

I have no desire to have the big screen on deck. We had a nice aft cabin and were docked next to a Disney ship in port. Had to see/listen to the cartoons all day.

I'm with you on this. We were on Celebrity and docked between a Princess and Disney ship and the MUTS sound was so loud, we couldn't enjoy our time on the deck. It was awful.

I wonder why cruise lines have to play follow the leader in so many ways? If one line does something, then other lines feel they have to follow suit. If people are so big on MUTS, they can cruise on lines that have it, and Celebrity could have kept themselves as the nice, upscale, relatively quiet line they've had the reputation of being. But as I've said before, this new president of Celebrity thinks with a Royal Caribbean mentality, and she's making changes to the line that many aren't thrilled about. I just don't see MUTS as Modern Luxury, but more of Modern Yuck.

I for one am super excited about MUTS! My husband loves lying at the pool and watching a movie makes it much more tolerable for me. Also, as there are no pool games on Celebrity, this will allow for some entertainment. It is also nice in the evening. We were on the Regal Princess last year and really enjoyed watching a movie under the stars with a bottle of champagne and some popcorn. Very enjoyable!

We have been on a couple of Princess cruises with MUTS. The sound from MUTS didn't travel to the other pool area at all.

We only went to a night time movie once on one ship. It was very nice watching the movie on a lounge chair, under a light blanket with hot chocolate and popcorn.:)
