What Improvements/Features Would You Like To See On The 3rd Breakaway Plus Ship?

Recommended Posts

I agree with the posters re:

-- more pools but would add at least one with a ramp or stairs to accommodate older passengers -- the pool areas are too small, too deep and awkward for seniors

-- Haven rooms for solo travelers or at a minimum beds that separate. Consider some Haven Rooms with showers rather than the tub combo -- again, an issue for seniors, forcing some to chose a mini over the Haven

-- enlarge Vibe. The race to get Vibe tickets is an insane way to start a "relaxing" vacation. I thought my elderly mother was going to be run over by those running up the entry to snag tickets

Better ventilation in the casino!

Provide draft version of dailies to assist in planning dinners, shows, evenings, resulting in fewer cancellations and no shows once onboard. I find the need to reserve immediately at day 90 frustrating but a much better option than being disappointed or waiting on lines once onboard.

Offer the option to book dinner reservations at larger tables, with strangers, the way cruising was in years past. While I love the option of a table just for our family, I feel we don't meet as many people as we did on past cruises. Once or twice a cruise, I'd like to join with others -- if the time is scheduled you won't have one couple eating dessert whilst another is ordering their appetizer

Return of the Spinnaker lounge for shows like newlywed game, bingo, dance lessons, it's a great more intimate place to gather and eliminate the crowds and noise in the atrium. Also the floor to ceiling Windows provide great views when the weather is cold or rainy. The Great Outdoors of the Jewel class ships is another favorite of mine....

A true lounge area for the smaller shows..like Newlywed and Dancing with the Stars. It is horrible in the atrium. Too crowded and so tacky to sit on folding chairs.

An adult pool in Spice

I think the atrium is a comfortable indoor venue on the mega ships except when they hold popular shows. The way seats are piled in with no regard to exit isles is scary. When I sailed last October on the Breakaway I was in the internet cafe emailing family. When I tore myself away I seen all the clear exits closed off with chairs....I had a bad knee and back issues due to accident and was nervous on how I was going to be able to maneuver around people. Never mind if there was some sort of issue where people needed to exit quickly.

Better ventilation for casino and make a truly enclosed smoking casino room

No more game shows in the atrium, i liked how they did it on the Jewel, in the Spinnaker Lounge

OH, and while I agree the waterfront for the most part was empty, I LOVE that its empty so I get to use it! It's seriously my favorite thing about the away ships, the bars and restaurants out by the waterfront, with the nice seating out there

Too bad we can not get that great outdoor space on the Dawn. I have been communicating with NCL forever about a more enviting promenade on the Dawn but ignored.

Redesign the casino so one doesn't have to walk through it to get to other places or at least do something about the ventilation! The smaller ships ( Jewel class ) are so much better with the casino ventilation. Recently went on the Escape and I am in the casino a lot and wow! the smoke smell was really bad. Same with the Getaway.

Redesign the buffet to accommodate more people.

Design the ship so there are 3 sets of elevator....fore, aft and midship.

Laundromats Who goes on vacation to do laundry?

no smoking indoors ...in fact add another smoking area on 6 so there is one on every floor of the 6-7-8 concept......period

For longer cruises you need to wash to carry less stuff

We loved the movie room on the Explorer of the Seas. There were comfortable stadium style seats, and no noise from people walking by.

When movies are shown in the atrium, passers-by are talking and distracting. Seating is not conducive to movie watching. My suggestion is to build a designated movie room.

As another poster suggested. Return to building Jewell Class ships. Many passengers prefer the Jewell, Gem, Jade, and Pearl to the Aways or Escapes. We never have to make reservations for the MDR or theater, because the venue is too small.

And yes, we would like to see laundromats installed on ALL NCL ships. I have used them on Carnival, and it was a nice convenience. As a platinum on Norwegian, we are entitled to 1 free bag of laundry per 7 day cruise, but the laundromat would be nice for in-between.

Why not just copy the Anthem of the seas deck plan, change the venue names to the NCL ones, paint the Funnel dark blue with a big NCL on it and be done with it - LOL

Oooooo did I just go there?

Well said, and I'm glad you did go there. But Quantum-class with more than nine (nine!) solo cabins. I have sailed a lot with NCL, but I must be getting old, because Quantum-class and HAL's new Pinnacle-class speak to me in a way that Away/Plus-class do not. As everyone has so ably mentioned, the spaces on newer NCL ships don't seem to be adequate to support passengers actually using the ships unless we pay for exclusive (i.e. less-crowded) access to areas like restaurants, Vibe, or the Haven, or the thermal suite in the spa. This might have been acceptable when NCL prices were comparatively affordable, but now NCL prices are comparatively expensive but with an inferior ship experience.

No smoking in communal areas - let them have their own sealed casino (preferably on a tug boat towed half a mile behind the ship)

An O'Sheehans sized bar that also backed onto the waterfront instead of those mini ones dotted about. (Can't believe some people don't rate the Waterfront. For me it was the best thing about these new ships and you can even get some walking done on sea days by doing laps but stopping for refreshments whenever you like.)

All menus and bar lists for ALL drinks listed online

A pool big enough to actually swim in

Adequate staffing in O'Sheehans area - like they used to have.

Serving the 'bubbly' at the drinks receptions actually cold

Bring it to the Med - Caribbean has been done to death

Was on the Anthem last December. Fine ship, just not one of my favorites.

Like other's said, expand the outdoor bar/dining area. Love that part of the ship. Spice H2O...loved it on Epic.

I'd pay for a Haven studio, too.
