We are both introverts and have a hard time socializing with table-mates at the MDR. We also didn't like the food that much in the MDR. We only ate there once on a 7 night cruise. We ate in Chops twice, Portofino twice. I think we were on the Jewell in 2014.

We normally get a table for 2 in MDR

We usually get a two top in the main dining room. However, sometimes we do not want to have a 1.5 hour meal or don't want to change out of our shorts and tees to go to the MDR so we go to the Windjammer. The first time that we chose the Windjammer for dinner, 3 cruises ago, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, food, and the service. We now eat there 2 or 3 time during a 7 day cruise.

We eat all our dinners in the MDR. The food is good (in our opinion) and I don't see a reason to pay extra for food in a specialty restaurant. Matter of act we eat in the MDR for breakfast and lunch when MDR is open on sea days. We try to stay out of the buffet

It's my vacation and I will do what ever I want...

This is usually My Time Dining in the MDR with a few kid free nights in the Specialty restaurants. If it is a longer cruise and we have eaten way too much we throw in a couple of Windjammer nights for no dinner snacks.

Whatever I want, but I usually go along with whatever my SO wants. I am so tired of MDR food and the amount of time it requires, in spite of how much we usually enjoy our table mates. It is not a dressing up thing (I would dress up no matter where we went), just a "tired of sitting there forever for the same old food" thing. I keep telling myself that at least it is cheaper to sit there than in the casino :D

I picked the wherever I feel like option--since there wasn't one for usually the MDR but not the all out LOVE the MDR one.

We do like the MDR and most ships the food there is good for us and we like to meet new people.

Once in a while we might want a specialty--though we have been disappointed more often than not other than Izumi and their prices sure jumped recently so we skipped them last trip.

Rarely, we have dinner at Windjammer, if we really want to be at several activities and there is no good way to work that with a sitdown meal in the MDR.

ANYWHERE is cheaper than the casino. Bars, spa, restaurant ;)

I didn't really have a response to any of the poll questions. We like the MDR but can't say "Love" it. We eat there each night for dinner but will also make a reservation in a specialty restaurant just for something different but not because we don't like the MDR. I'm sure we will be trying out the Costal Kitchen on Oasis next year since we will be in a suite for the first time. We do lunch in the Windjammer everyday and do not have desire to eat there for dinner also.

We enjoy the MDR for the camaraderie with our table-mates. We've been fortunate to always be paired with nice engaging couples.

That said...

On our last cruise on the Liberty, we ate at Giovanni's on the first night for the Murder Mystery Dinner, which had a special menu for that night only. We ate at the MDR for the rest of the cruise. Several of the other couples at at Chops on different nights.

On our next cruise, we are thinking about trying more specialty dining, mostly because it's there and we want to experience all that the ships have to offer. We will have to trade that off with enjoying our nightly cruise debriefs with our table-mates.
