Sea and Me Posted June 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2016 We booked a Nov. cruise with the 3-1 promotion. Does anyone know if a future 3-1 will be featured?? I'm also wondering is it better to book while on board or I guess when I see a "deal" when I snoop the Princess website. Thanks for your responses. Carol IMHO, Don't look for "deals" whilst on board; Enjoy your cruise. There are always more "deals" that come around.
paul929207 Posted June 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2016 No way to tell when a deal will be offered. Will they offer 3 for 1 again? probably, but no one knows for sure, or when. Many of the deals are not deals. They raise the price and throw in a perk or two. The perks cost about the same as the jump in price. Then the drop the perks and cut the price back where it was. My sources tell me the 3 for 1 deal will again see the light of day starting Nov 1st for west coast addresses and then Nov 15th for East Coast addresses..but again...im a certified mind reader..not a fortune teller...but i would say hang in there.. I was just offered a perk with a "CASINO" discount. When I applied, Princess said the so-called discount cabins were filled. However, they could accommodate us if we still wanted that same cruise. moki'smommy Posted June 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2016 When I've tracked prices, packages, and "deals" on the cruises I was interested in, they have basically come out the same when you considered the cruise fare and the perk value. SO, if you want/would use all the perks, it can be a good deal. If a deal includes the all inclusive beverage package but you wouldn't buy it, this might not be a good "deal" for you. I've read of people getting good deals with 3 for free or extra OBC or whatever. We've found that the total price is about the same when all aspects are considered. If the cruise has enough to block you out, try a different cruise.:)
basor Posted June 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Princess deals are not deals, but people fall for it. That is not necessarily accurate....we have a cruise booked for Nov 2017 and the price for our category is exactly the same under the sip and sail promo - so now we are paying the same price but will have the sip and sail and a specialty dining voucher included....in fact, all of the cabin categories are the same... We also are booked under a group and since the sip and sail is combinable with groups, we are receiving all of the perks our TA is offering with the group too... In this case it is a win/win.... Have not seen them over the sip/sail since we booked. Now the price is much higher and the perks being offered are not nearly as good as the sip and sail. Really glad we booked right away when we saw that!!:) Edited June 17, 2016 by karena1

We did the free gratuity deal for our Royal cruise in November and some OBC. It was called the Red, White and Blue sale. We thought it was a good deal. Plus we got 5% cash back on our Discover card. Thrak Posted June 17, 2016 #14 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks--I didn't know that the alcohol package could be swapped for OBC. Yes, it can be but the OBC is nowhere near what the drink package would cost.

Thanks for your responses. Carol Make sure you get a Future Cruise Credit while on board. $100pp and you can buy more than one pp. They are valid for two years and if not used are credited back to you. You can use them as the deposit on most cruises, so can track prices of cruises you are interested in at your leisure then pounce when you see one that is at a price you like. If you cancel before Final Payment the FCC goes back to your Princess account. You also get OBC when you use the FCC, how much depends on the length of the cruise you book. caribill Posted June 18, 2016 #17 Share Posted June 18, 2016 (edited) I've read of people getting good deals with 3 for free or extra OBC or whatever. We've found that the total price is about the same when all aspects are considered. My experience is different. We booked a cruise last year under the "3 for free" promotion. Once the promotion was over, the basic pricing remained essentially the same until embarkation. In other words, with the "3 for free", once the value of those benefits were subtracted out from the basic pricing, we were way ahead of what people had to pay once the promotion ended. Yes, the basic pricing did go up or down about $100 at various times and there were other promotions, but never was the total package as inexpensive as when we booked it with the "3 for free" promotion. If the cruise has enough to block you out, try a different cruise.:) I agree. I recently booked a "casino" deal, and got both the sailing date and cabin category that I wanted. But I called the same day that I received the mailer offering it.

Free gratuities Free dinner one night in a specialty restaurant For the selected cabin type, highest category cabin for the price of lowest category cabin (examples: IA for price of an IF; OV for price of an OZ)
