Do you generally prefer sea days or port days?

Since I have to choose, I'd go for more sea days than port days.

Unfortunately, my husband prefers the port days more, that's why we wind up on more evenly divided cruises. But not always.

We did a B2B Med/WBTA that was 8 ports/2 sea days on the Med portion; and 5 ports/8 sea day on the TA part. So total of 14 ports/ 10 sea days.

Your poll choices are a bit confusing and somewhat limited. What is the distinction between "sea days" and "maximum number of sea days" as a preference choice? Just a bit vague to me. And why not a selection for "equal amount of both"?

Easy for us to do the poll. It's sea days all the way. I love the islands and its great to see new things, but the ultimate relaxation are the sea days. And int he last few cruises - as we have already been to many of the islands, we now make a port day into a "sea" day, but just staying on the ship. Many times, the ship is the best entertainment around.

If it's not too late, I'd change the poll to make it more complete. You don't have an option for "Neither". If you exclude people who like both port days and sea days, then you get a skewed poll.

Good suggestion but I have no idea how to do that.

Port days. We travel to go places. The ship is our floating hotel. Unpack once, no dragging luggage from place to place.

My sentiments exactly.

For this reason, I rarely repeat itineraries. I have already been through the Carribean, why would I do that cruise again? (The exception is Bonaire. The diving and snorkeling is extraordinary enough that I have flown in and stayed a few times.)

I enjoy a good mix of sea and port days. I enjoy visiting the ports and also enjoy just relaxing on the ship. When we did a cruise with ports every day I was exhaused at the end of the 7 days.

Since my preference of both wasn't included in the poll, I posted it here and didn't respond to the poll.

This isn't a one size fits all poll question. If I am just going to be floating around the Caribbean then I want more sea days as my goal is just being lazy while soaking in the sun rays. I want a few port days to do something different.

If on an interesting itinerary such as my recent Med cruise then I quite enjoy my port days while having a few sea days thrown in so I can recuperate sleeping in for the upcoming port days.

I voted "sea days", but when I really think about it I prefer port days and staying on the ship. Sometimes the sea days turn into fighting crowds and lines into every venue.

This is why being selective about cruise lines is so important. Most ships are overcrowded - making sea days less enjoyable. Port days are not great ways of seeing anything really worthwhile: it is better to take a land trip if you are going someplace interesting - or to an island with great beaches. If you are not calling at interesting places, it is not worth getting off the ship. We cruise for sea days, and take land vacations.

We ( My wife and I) tend to enjoy sea days. In fact, we don't even get off the ship, in some ports, unless there's a shore excursion she is really excited about. We're in our mid 60's and it's become difficult for her to walk a long distance. So she'll enjoy the casino and LOVES the pool and sun while I'll roam the entire ship, checking out the shops and public areas. We both LOVE the food and steak house. When we're in the cabin either port or sea, we so enjoy sitting out and enjoying the balcony, and just relaxing. I know to you younger folks, it sounds kind of boring, but we cruise to just 'get away' and enjoy sailing the bright cobalt sea in a 'floating' hotel.

Aren't most casinos and shops closed while in port?
