B2B Discounts?

I will confirm that there is $100 per leg discount on Celebrity b2b. I received this on our past b2b (even though I booked the two segments 2-3 weeks apart, they "joined" the two as though I had done them the same day) and on our two booked future b2b's. I didn't ask, the Celebrity vacation specialist (not the right title, sorry) just told me it was there and put it into the system.

Happy trails!

Thanks, Stan.

You have some nice future cruises for 2017 & 2018. We have been on two Celebrity Silhouette TAs, and really enjoyed them. I also noticed you began cruising before I was born! Keep on cruising!:D

We just booked our first b2b and learned that the travel insurance we had booked for the first leg (before deciding to book the second leg) carried over entirely for what we had already paid. Not much but welcome savings.

Who did you book insurance with? Royal Caribbean or another third party company?

Royal has balcony discounts. Celebrity does not. The cruise lines are run differently.

Yes, they do some things differently. ;)

Celebrity also gives discounts on staterooms through the Captains Club. We just booked into a AQ1 (rate was $4999pp) for the price of an AQ2 (cost was $2600pp !) Quite a savings over the Diamond balcony discount. :)

^^^This.

And I am surprised (?) that iamthesea would announce that Royal Caribbean does this when in fact s/he has only seen this on Celebrity.

If you will look back at my original post, you will see that I was responding to the post above about Celebrity's B2B discount. Post #8. ;) So I never said that RCCL gives this discount. I said I would not be surprised if they did give it.

I never knew about Celebrity doing this until I read a post on the Celebrity board. Had never read anything of the sort in all our years of sailing with Celebrity. So I asked my TA and she called Celebrity and the discount was applied. $100 off each cruise.

This is something that I did not know about. ;)

We booked our B2B before buying trip insurance from CSA. When we did purchase, the insurance for the 25 days was only $133.51 (total for 2 persons) higher than the insurance we took out last May from CSA for an 18 day cruise. So I guess we basically got the same deal.

This is surprising as we only book multiple cruises and have always had to pay insurance per cruise when using RCI, or "total" cruise fare when booking with another carrier if more than one cruise is involved.

Called C&A this morning and told the rep that Royal never applied my B2B discount for my upcoming Harmony cruise. She said she had never heard of any B2B discount and put me on hold. After a few minutes her supervisor came back on the line. She said Royal doesn't offer this discount and I must be thinking of Celebrity.

I just said okay....thanks

Patty, I'm surprised as much as you cruise/travel that you don't buy yearly travel insurance. John and I purchased it this year.....huge savings over buying for each trip. It's through Allianz.(around $495 for both of us for a year).

I am also curious. ;) What you are paying per year is almost twice as much as what we are paying for our B2B. We feel good about our coverage from CSA Luxe.

What exactly does it cover? Does it cover evacuation from ship, hefty medical, and getting you home, especially from Europe?

I'll check back next week. Leaving for a New years land trip in an hour. :)

It ćovers all travel for a year. We heard about it from other cruisers, and they had used it and highly recommended it. John checked it out, since we are both Medicare age now.(We had been buying cruise travel insurance each trip, but we had more than the usual amount of cruises booked August through December, so bought the policy in August.) we previously went with CSA, among others.

I think there are two different policies you can choose from. One has more medical evacuation (needed from European travel), and costs more. The one we got does include medical evacuation, too, but not as much. John keeps telling me we aren't going back to Europe next year, next year, etc.;) I keep finding nice transatlantic cruises!:D

I'll have John answer all your questions next week. We are leaving soon for our New Year's weekend from west Tennessee to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg....closer to you.:)

I'll have to look into this, because we spend a good deal of money on insurance every year, much more than the premium you mentioned above. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I am sure that we are paying more for insurance rather than taking out a yearly policy, but after a lot of research, we are comfortable with what we are paying for. We have coverage that goes into effect from final payment through the cruise and our return home.

Just came off back to back on Freedom. Each cruise seperate booking no discount but was offering 300.00 obc on GETTO program on both cruises from Royal and agent doing $75.00 on each and free tips. $750.00 combined for both weeks and got Diamond discount when both booked. No other discount for both bookings because of back to back. Had jr suite also.

Our travel agent just got back to us this morning - no discounts on a B2B. I am thinking that the one person who says they did get a discount is either misinformed and thought it was for a B2B, or their TA took it off out of his own commission.

or confused RCI with Celebrity.

We have the Allianz Annual Executive Plan. We've had to make 1 claim for cancellation and they were quick to pay. Fortunately have not had to use the medical/evacuation portion. Annual premium for both of us for Executive plan is $918 and $498 for Deluxe Plan.

And this covers cruise cancellation, no matter how many cruises you take in a year? Even if you take 10 cruises in the Royal Suite and you have First Class airfare? There's got to be some sort of yearly monetary limit.

Contacted our TA yesterday and received $100 off our B2B2B cruise on CELEBRITY that begins on 1/2/2017. All invoices were paid in full so he just issued a $100 credit. He tells be this is a Celebrity program ONLY and RCI does not have a B2B discount.

Thank-you Mr. Biker. I've got to look at that more closely. The limit of $2000 for trip cancellation seems low to me.

Yes, and it's $100 off per cruise, per stateroom. Not per person. Not much, but every little bit helps! :) You do have to request.

You did not quote any post, including the one above. Since this is a thread about Royal Caribbean on the Royal Caribbean forum, I made the perfectly reasonable assumption that you were responding to the general query of the thread.

Thank you for returning and clarifying that you were speaking about Celebrity and not about Royal Caribbean.

And thank you for the acknowledgement. :) I often think that posters should read more carefully and understand where a post is coming from. I normally do not quote someone if I am responding directly under a post that I want to respond to. I will be more careful in the future. ;)

Sounds too good to be true, but like clarea, some coverages seem too low for my comfort. And is their a limit on how many trips can be covered? For instance, is that Baggage Loss/Damage coverage offer of $1000 for the year, or per trip?

cruising grandma - Hope you enjoyed the Gatlinburg area. We dread seeing all the damage on our next trip over. We actually stayed in the house that was all over the national news. The house that the owners (friends of ours) surely thought was lost after seeing the raging fire directly behind it on the news. And then to find that the firemen saved it! :)
