racnwdow Posted January 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2017 How much should we tip for breakfast for 2, for room service? I know we can do what we want, but want to make sure it is enough also.
Clarea Posted January 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I'd probably give them $5.
Sheal Posted January 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2017 My husband usually gives them a couple of dollars for one tray. If you are getting 2-3 trays then maybe a little more. It is entirely up to you. He keeps a small stack of one's handy since mornings seem to come early on some days.
luvscruising2007 Posted January 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2017 We give $2 for a pot of coffee. If we get pastries and fruit we usually give $5. Anything they receive is always appreciated and one time the server had left before I could give him anything. So, I keep the money on the desk so it is quickly available. Capt_BJ Posted January 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) where did this 'tip for room service' myth begin? I give one tip at the end of the cruise don't I ...... tips added to drinks are another thing I don't understand BUT I do understand that most of this comes from the 'legacy' of cruising . . . bar tenders were not included in the 'tip night ritual' ..... but my room stew' sure was! some believe that room service is not included in their basic fare .... I disagree if you do not agree with me, then why not tip the server who fills your water glass at the buffet ..... or the guy dishing up your burger at the 'private island' Edited January 19, 2017 by Capt_BJ

johnjen Posted January 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 20, 2017 As most have said, $5 is a good tip for breakfast. But someone in the forums here once stated they tip with cash but wrap the bill(s) around a candy bar. I laughed at first but then thought what a cute idea. cb at sea Posted January 20, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) $2-5, depending on what you order. Coffee and pastries...$2....2 full breakfasts...$5. Canukcruisenewbie Posted January 20, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2017 The candy bar is a great idea!! I don't think I'd do it all the time but it's definitely sweet. (Pun intended). Sent from my iPhone using Forums
gerif Posted January 20, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 20, 2017 where did this 'tip for room service' myth begin? I give one tip at the end of the cruise don't I ...... Room service personnel are NOT included in the tipping pool like others (including the people who refill your water in the WJ). You would tip them just as you would tip room service personnel in a hotel.
Ken at the beach Posted January 20, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 20, 2017 While many do tip for room service Royal makes no mention of tipping for room service. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=415&faqSubjectName=Gratuities&faqId=5528 Gratuities Q: Are there other gratuities to be expected during my cruise? Ocean Dancer Posted January 20, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 20, 2017 Last week I just read that room service for anything will be $7.95.:mad: I do NOT know where I read it, what cruise line it was on or anything else. Sorry, but the mandatory tipping fee is somewhere. Any one else see this? Not even sure it was Cruise Critic. Seems kinda high, but did catch my attention. I know that Celebrity charges $4.95 for room service orders between 11 PM and 6 AM (not Suites). I'm sure that most of the lines will pursue this money grab in due course.
