Hi!

I am really curious about the ship. We were on it December 2014 and it was badly in need of new carpeting and furniture in the common areas of the ship. What is it like now?

Hi Bob,

We just got off the PP on May 12 from the World Cruise. During the last leg they were replacing the carpeting in the hallways on decks 3, 4, 5,6, 7 & 8, as well as in the Atrium on 4 and 5 and the club bar, Internet Cafe and card room and the Buffet. We were also in an owners suite so had breakfast in Sabatini's each morning. Please say hello to Marius (if he's still there) from Wally & Stacey. He's the best waiter we've ever had.

Enjoy your cruise.

We are in OS 8067 at the end of June. Did you feel any vibrations at all being in the aft? We normally book PH but this ship doesn't have any midship.

We've been on PP in aft OS on deck 6 and no more vibration than any other ship - and really just thruster time...

He'd just gotten married and his beautiful wife was on the ship for part of our B2B.

Thanks Lew. You know how I get right before a cruise. To me the anticipation a couple of days before we embark is almost as fun as the cruise.....:):):)

Hello Bob,

My wife would call that "pre-trip freak out" when I do it. What a blessed spot to be in [emoji846]

I will look forward to your report throughout your cruise, especially because I'm tentatively looking at the 11 November Venice round-trip, in place of a scheduled Azamara TA.

Very much interested in your feedback regarding how club class dining will work on a small ship. I'm not certain there is enough "extra" and to be worth it but I am keeping an open mind.

Cheers,

Bob

Good morning from thePacific Princess. It is around 0630 pst. Today is a full sea day as we journey towards our first port stop of Cabo San Lucas. Right now the skies are overcast and a little dreary. Temps aren’t too bad now. Seas are a tad choppy but not too bad. The forecast for today is a high of 64f (18c) and a low of 59c (15c). Sunrise was at 0555 with sunset being at 1933.

Today Holli and I will beheaded to Sabatini’s around 0900. After that, I’ll probably hit the fitness center. After the gym, who knows, my day could be crammed with activities or Icould do nothing at all as I’m on vacation.

Entertainment options for today are as follows: **I won’t list everything, but I will post all the patters to my flickr page when we get back**

The Wake Show on channel 21 till 1100

The Legend of the CrystalSkulls on Chanel 24 at 0600/1000

Several un-hosted group get-togethers all day throughout the ship

Several hosted fitness classes in the gym in the morning hours

Hair show Seminar at 1200Lotus Spa

Gaming lessons in the Casino1200-1300

Poolside Groves with the Cruisetones (ship band) weather permitting 1315

Afternoon Movie “Allied” CabaretLounge 1400

Comedy Showtime featuringScott Harris Cabaret Lounge 1945 & 2145

Music of David Crathorne Casino Bar 2045 to late

DJ Music Pacific Lounge 2300

Feel free to post any and all questions. I got a ton of internet minutes to burn through for the cruise.

Internet has been very good so far. We are in an aft OS and get a great signal in the cabin without having to open the door. Signal on the balcony is not at as good but still able to connect. If I want to upload any pictures, I’ll have to do them in the cabin.

One quick question for you techies out there. I am using MS Word (MAC version) to compose before I post. I noted that when I post, a number of words are run together and need correcting. This only happened after the redesigned boards when live several months ago. Any ideas?

That’s all for now. I’ll probably pop back in after breakfast at the Italian joint.

Bob

Dear Bob,

Sounds like the kerning is all jacked (A technical term[emoji10]). I'm a bit of a Mac fanatic but I've never had that problem with Word on any of my Macs; there's one fairly sure fire way, albeit an extra step- to strip the characterization of this behind the scenes issue:

* After you're done composing in Word (I also maintain a blog), Open WordPad, or any text editor, copy your material, then paste into any kind of word pad or other application, ensuring you do not use rich text, but plain.

* Copy that text, then paste into cruise critic or any other blog from which you post.

This method, although an extra step, essentially a round trip of copy/paste, copy/paste will solve your problem.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi, Bob. Just found your thread and caught up reading it.

You will really enjoy the Pacific. The best service I've ever had in a restaurant was breakfast in Sabatini's on the Ocean Princess. With only ten suites, the service is very personal.

I had a forward suite on the Pacific, so we had problems using our balcony underway. The balcony on your aft suite will be much more useful. However, when they offered us an upsell to a suite, only the forward ones were left (not a surprise).

We had one problem with the suite. The shower is in the tub - no separate shower - and there wall on the side of the tub was one of the highest I've seen. DW could not step into the tub by herself. We much prefer the separate walk-in shower. Other than that the suite was great - much larger than we needed.

You may find your cabin a little small however. It is definitely a lot smaller than the cabin you were in the last time I saw you.

Enjoy the canal - it is an engineering marvel. I found it particularly interesting after reading David McCullough's book The Path Between the Seas. I will be going back to the Canal next January - this time on the Caribbean (which has become my favorite ship).

Thank you for your service. 21 active/11 reserve, I have about 1.5 years active to go active myself [emoji846]

Cheers,

Bob

(ACC, so I hope you're OK with communicating with Airedales [emoji28])

May not be the same one. Our head waiter in the dinning room was also a Marius and he may be the one you're thinking of. He is very tall and thin. The Marius I was referring to was is from Romania and is the lead waiter in Sabatini's in the morning. He also does all the special events and the specialty restaurants Great guy.

We were in 6091 for the entire World Cruise and we did have some vibration. We become friends with the gentleman in 8067 and he didn't have a problem with vibration but did have some noise issues coming from the buffet. Mostly early in the morning when they are setting up and moving tables and chairs. You may want to take some ear plugs.

Good evening from the beautiful Pacific Princess. Holli & I just returned from a great dinner in the MDR. For and service were both outstanding. After dinner, Holli decided to go with her DS to see an event called “Festivals of the World Mexican Fiesta Party. I decided to skip it. AS soon as I post this, I might go up to the pool deck and walk around the track for a bit.

As I stated earlier, our excursion was cancelled due to the weather. We ended up just walking around the port area of Cabo for awhile before returning to the ship. After we departed, I got a quick power nap in so I could hang a little better tonight. As for tomorrow, after Sabatini’s, I’m going to be working out in some fashion. Holli has a massage scheduled in the early afternoon. After I get done working out, I’ll probably play it by ear. I am really forward to three sea days as they are my favorite part of a cruise.

The entertainment options for today were as follows:

Wake Show till 1100

Destination Lecture with Deb Fraioli at 0600 & 1000

Several fitness classes offered throughout the ship

Christian Fellowship & Bible Study hour (unhosted) Card Room 0815

Kintters & Knatters get-Together (unhosted) Club Bar 0930

Passport to adventure Stateroom Channel 24 1000 & 1600

Morning trivia Pacific Lounge 1100

Stateroom Movie “Arrival” Channel 21 1100 & 2300

Sail away Groves with The Cruisetones Pool Deck 1345

Happy Hour BOGO Pool Deck 1345 - 1445

Afternoon Movie “A Dog’s Purpose” Cabaret Lounge 1430

Carpet Bowls Challenge in the Atrium 1430

We are in OS 6088. The vibration calmed down yesterday midday. Right now there is a lot of vibration in our cabin that started as soon as we departed Cabo San Lucas.....

Good morning all from the Pacific Princess. This is the first full sea day of three enroute to Nicaragua. Holli & I are getting ready to scoot up to Sabatini's for breakfast. I got a good night's sleep despite the ever present vibration we had in our cabin all night. It was very noticible, but it didn't bother me. After breakfast today, I'm going to work out in some fashion while Holli rests up prior to a massage appointment at 1400 The rest of the day is playing it by ear for me. I'll probably start touching up my photos from yesterday for eventual upload to my Flickr page.

Thant's about all for now.

Hope All Are Well.....:):):)

An early good evening from the Pacific Princess. Holli & I are getting ready to head to the MDR for our late seating dinner. So far food and service in the MDR has been excellent. One cool thing our assistant waiter did for Mother's Day is to make a paper flower for Holli & her sister it was a very nice gesture. After dinner, we might take in the show in the Cabaret Lounge. Tonight's offering is a ventriloquist.

That's all for now. I'll check in later before I turn in for the night.....:):):)

Good evening from the Pacific Princess. We just got back from seeing the show in the Cabaret Lounge. The performer's name was Mike Mynor(sp) and he did a Ventriloquist/Variety act that was quite good. Before the show, we had another great dinner in the MDR. Food and service were once again excellent. Before dinner, I availed myself of the Platinum/Elite lounge in the Pacific Lounge. They had some smoked salmon tonight as a bonus to supplement the usual cheese/crackers and vegetables.

Sorry, but no entertainment report for today as my copy of the patters has seemed to grown legs and walked away.

That's all for now. See everyone in the morning.....:):):)
