A late good morning from the Pacific Princess. Holli and I just got back from breakfast in Sabatini's. Service was excellent as was the food. I just wanted to mention something so I won't forget to post it down the road and in case some haven't heard the news. We were talking to our waiter about the upcoming dry dock. He informed us that the current venue for Sabatini's will be transferred into the Club Class dining room while Sabatini's moves into the share the venue with Sterlings. He isn't too sure about how they will rotate it, but right now the schedule is two days of Sabatini's and three days of Sterlings......:):):)

Bob,

Enjoy the PP. We were on her for the Princess 50th Anniversary cruise in December 2015 and fell in love with her. We are booked on a 12 day Greek Isle cruise on the PP starting on 30 October 2018 which goes from Venice (one of our favorite cities) to Rome. We are booked in an OS (7114), so we would appreciate any pictures, comments, hints or observations about the cabin. When we were on for the 50th to Mexico we had Oscar as M'D and Sami Baker as cruise director. Could not ask for better personnel. Have a great cruise, Looking forward to your posts. How do we access your Flkr Page??

My Flickr link is in my signature. I won't be posting any pictures from this cruise because it is a very bandwidth consuming task.....:):):)

That makes a lot of sense. Looks like the Pacific Lounge will be used all of the time for the nightly P/E/S Lounge.

We were also on the Pacific for the 50th Anniversary cruise and accepted an upsell to OS 6091 for a 12 day Venice to Rome Adriatic and Aegean cruise last November. We ran into some pretty bad storms in the Aegean and one port day was turned into a sea day because the Captain had to reduce our cruising speed because of the high waves. The suites are going to be completely redone before you sail on her so details may change.

Talk about a small world. I was leaving the gym awhile ago and this Hispanic guy called out; "Hi Bob." I looked at him with an "I don't know who you are" look. He then told me his name and I then realized we were Deputies together at a patrol station in 1990. Amazing on the people you run into on a cruise ship.....:):):)

Hi Bob....just found your "live" and will now follow along.

We were also on the PP for the wonderful 50th! We loved the ship. We also remember what a great guy Oscar is! Had a lot of fun with him! Sammi was great as well!

Have a great cruise! Looking forward hearing about it!

Great to be following you on your trip, Bob. Look forward to hearing about life on a small ship and how you find the ports and canal. Give Holli our best wishes for a great cruise. Enjoy!

A much better use of space. He isn't too sure about how they will rotate it, but right now the schedule is two days of Sabatini's and three days of Sterlings......:):):)

They may keep that schedule. When we were on the Pacific in Nov/Dec 2016 they alternated every other night.

We were on the same time as you last year.

Your post is a little confusing. On the 12 day Nov/Dec cruise the schedule was Sab/Sab/Ste/Ste/Ste/Sab/Sab/Ste/Ste/Ste/Sab/Sab as described by Bob rather than alternating every other day. We did not stay on for the TA so they might have changed the schedule for that cruise.

It was in the Pacific for our 2015 and 2016 cruises but there have also been posts of it being held in one of the specialty restaurants on other threads.

Hi, Bob. Just found your thread and caught up reading it.

You will really enjoy the Pacific. The best service I've ever had in a restaurant was breakfast in Sabatini's on the Ocean Princess. With only ten suites, the service is very personal.

I had a forward suite on the Pacific, so we had problems using our balcony underway. The balcony on your aft suite will be much more useful. However, when they offered us an upsell to a suite, only the forward ones were left (not a surprise).

We had one problem with the suite. The shower is in the tub - no separate shower - and there wall on the side of the tub was one of the highest I've seen. DW could not step into the tub by herself. We much prefer the separate walk-in shower. Other than that the suite was great - much larger than we needed.

You may find your cabin a little small however. It is definitely a lot smaller than the cabin you were in the last time I saw you.

Enjoy the canal - it is an engineering marvel. I found it particularly interesting after reading David McCullough's book The Path Between the Seas. I will be going back to the Canal next January - this time on the Caribbean (which has become my favorite ship).

This made me look up the deck plans for Pacific Princess. There are only 10 full Suites on the ship and the top mini suites have been re-labelled from MB to M2. On other ships only M1 mini suites get Club Class dining. Will the M2s on Pacific get Club Class? Otherwise, how can they devote the old Sabatini's space to just 20 pax?

After the dry dock and prep for Club Class the mini's may be re-classified to be M1s.

On previous ships that completed the Club Class upgrade their MA minis were reclassified as M1.

On Pacific the current highest category of minisuite is MB, so logical their newly upgraded classification will be M2.

Consistent with all minis changed from standard (M + alpha) to premium (M + numeral) being designated Club Class. No other minis* have M + numeral except Club Class. So M1, M2, samey same.

*other than the M6 forward facing minis on Royal and Regal

We now return to the live-from currently in progress...:halo:

Good morning from thePacific Princess.Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms out there. Internet is a little slow today, so my apologies for how long it took to post this. Today is our second sea day as we journey to our first port stop of Cabo San Lucas.Weather now is slightly overcast with mild(not cold temps).Seas are for the most part pretty much calm. Not much on tap for today except trying my tux to make sure it fits.Tonight, is our first formal night.Holli has a hair appointment later today.CC names we’d had been talking to over the last year and a half plus.

As I stated earlier, the crew of the Pacific Princess continues to shine.I have been over the top impressed with their friendliness and willingness to do anything to ensure their guests enjoy their cruise. The ship, despite its age (18years) appears to be in a very good state of repair.

You don't need to. One only needs to make a mock booking on the Pacific Princess for any cruise after the refit. From what I could tell the mid-ship mini-suites become Club Class and are classed as M2.

Yes. We are M2 on the Pacific Princess and listed as Club Class. We will be sailing on its first voyage with Club Class so I'm sure there will be a learning curve for staff and waiters with this new arrangement.

Hi Bob! As you will understand ,it's a little hard to follow this thread, but I just have to say Hi and I'm so glad this trip has started for you. How was the Meet and Greet? I have to tell you, I tried to send a bottle of bubbly to Charlie's cabin for the Meet and Greet, but because I only had a first name they wouldn't do it. I thought since I had the cabin #, that would be all I needed. Oh well. Continue to have a wonderful journey. BTW, I have no regrets about my decision, it was the right one. Laureen
