Elite Status

Recommended Posts

This is correct. To add some clarification for those unfamiliar with RCL, the benefit is 24 consecutive hours; on Celebrity the benefit is 90 minutes to be used over the length of the cruise when the passenger desires.

If my wife and I are both Elite members, do we each get 90 minutes, so we can use up one of ours and then the other can sign up to get a total of 180 minutes?

You have it in one. That's exactly what we do and we have found that the 180 minutes is more than adequate to check emails etc over a 14 day cruise. Make sure though that you log out of each session when you have finished or else the clock will keep running and your 90 minutes will be gone before you know it

You can use your minutes any way you want to. You can both sign on and download your emails or whatever you want and then logout. As stated you have to make sure that you are logged out. If you wanted to you could also give anyone your ID and password and they can also use the minutes. A little risky unless you can really trust that person.

The other problem with both using the same minutes is that only one device can be connected at the same time.

I found that the speed is better in the public areas. The balcony is really bad.

The free minutes that I get are more than enough for what I use them for. Sometimes if we are have a port day I will log into a free service that is provided at a bar.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞

Yes. Just log in one device at a time and remember to log out after use so you don't waste the minutes. You will each have a separate account with separate user names and passwords

Question: On an M-class ship like the Infinity and having Elite Status, will the Captains Club Hostess be at all malleable? Example: Years ago we were on Infinity with our elderly and mobile impaired parents, taking them on their first cruise to Alaska. It was their second cruise ever and first on Celebrity. We were simply in Concierge Class accommodations but my wife and I were long time Celebrity cruisers and Elite status. Because I introduced myself and our situation to the CC Hostess, our parents were treated as if they were Elite the entire cruise. Dad got to see the Deck, joined us in the Michael's Club, etc. and had the greatest cruise ever. I am hoping Celebrity is still this accommodating to their "preferred guests".

That was wonderful but I would suggest that it will not happen again . There are way too many Elites now and word spreads fast so it would create chaos as many would expect it . If a non elite is your cabin mate then they can go to Elite events with you . Michaels club is no longer open to Elite.

Michaels Club for being Elite?? You must have been in a suite as well as having Elite status and not Concierge Class. Your Michael's Club concierge was very lenient to allow you or your parents in.

Concierge Class Elite passengers are NOT able to get into the Zenith/Suite Michael's Club.

Or this might have been MANY years ago when Michael's Club was a cigar lounge.

OP said "Years ago...". I'm thinking this was back when the Elite gatherings were held in Michael's Club, prior to it being used for suite guests only. That was back when there weren't so many Elite level passengers.

I've had evening drinks in Michael's club on Eclipse when she was first launched in 2010. Also on Century in 2012. It was a bar which served 'special bottled beers.' We certainly weren't Elite until late 2012, so it wasn't for an Elite gathering.

I also remember when the Elite Perks were changed in November 2009 that Elite Happy Hour was held in Michael's Club the first year or so. It didn't take too long before the numbers grew. I am assuming some of that had do to with the reciprocity with RCCL's Crown and Anchor.

Before Michael's Club became a Suite Class/Zenith venue--that occurred, in stages, several years ago [last expansion to include access by Sky Suite guests was first introduced in December 2015]--it was most often open to all and, in fact, was sometimes used as a night time entertainment venue [most notably, it was host location to Perry Grant when performing aboard Constellation and, later, Eclipse]... That said, even then it was then sometimes closed for "private events"--just as Sky Lounge [or M-Class equivalent] tends to be closed just about nightly for the Elite/Elite+/Zenith Happy Hours now] including--depending upon anticipated attendance--"invitation only" (depending upon Captain's Club tier) cocktail gatherings with Officers, welcome parties for Blue Chip Club members if the casino had some sort of special event going on during a cruise, the "Connections" [now, "Meet & Mingle"] get-together, or gatherings for those aboard as members of a partial ship charter...

Much has changed since [1] Captain's Club was expanded from three membership tiers to five with "loyalty" measured on a Cruise Credit rather than Cruise Point system [23 November 2013], and [2], Celebrity subsequently reengineered/enhanced their Suite-Class product offering...

I agree with you. "Manage your expectations" would be my advice. There are lots of Elites and Elite Pluses now.

I have never been to an Elute 'Happy Hour' as there have always been too many Elite passengers on the cruise we have been on. Instead we have been given 3 coupons per evening. Does this still happen?

Recently took our first X cruise and loved it! Changed our British Isles cruise to X instead of RCCL. Do you know how internet minutes are handled with a solo veranda cabin? Is it 90 min or 180 for Elite passengers? We will move up from Select to Elite before that cruise. Thanks!

We like and enjoy our E + perks abd have been loyal to X over the yrs although .we will never reach Zenith level.

For those who have not cruised recently, be aware that there are now many E and E+ cruisers...esp with Royal Diamonds getting E benefits...

Not as catered to as in past years. That extra, special level of service is given to suite pax.

"Coupons" are issued--but now they are loaded to your SeaPass Card; I believe the practice is now in effect fleet-wide--only when the number of Elite, Elite +, and Zenith members projected to attend the Happy Hour exceeds the comfortable capacity of the venue used for the event [ie; Sky Lounge on Solstice-Class ships]...

Generally--no doubt there may have been exceptions--the "coupon" approach is most often used on Transatlantic and other repositioning cruises... In such cases, the Happy Hour is still available but the "coupons" [good for the same drinks during the same hours at designated bars] can be used as an alternative to--not in addition to--the Happy Hour...

I really enjoyed Michael's Club when it was a cigar lounge. They had the atmosphere of a men's club with the leather overstuffed chairs and would serve scotch, port, cognacs, cigars, and hostesses to clip and light your cigar - as well as making conversation.

The aromas of the cigars and the leather was excellent.

Which Celebrity cruise were you one where Celebrity loaded the drink coupons on the Sea Pass card? In January the regular Captain Club coupons were loaded on the card, but not the drink coupons. Perhaps Celebrity has made a change?

The practice was in test--in total or partially for Happy Hour, I was Elite + at the time--while I was aboard Equinox last September and October, and was told that the practice was simultaneously in test on Constellation... I know that, if successful (and it seemingly was on a small scale trial but perhaps issues arose on the Transatlantic), expectation was that the practice would be rolled out fleet wide...

When I last sailed with Celebrity aboard Reflection in December, the number of Elite, Elite +, and Zenith members was too small to warrant issuance of drink coupons or their electronic equivalent for the Happy Hour but that other coupons, formerly issued in paper format, were programmed to the SeaPass Card [as they were for all guests during the Equinox pilot a year ago]... That seems to track to your January experience...

Another respondent to this thread also mentioned electronic drink coupons but I don't recall a specific reference... RCCL has been using them-every cruise on an additive rather than either/or basis--for several years now...

Interesting. Thank you for the explanation. I would think that loading the drinks on the Sea pass would be a cost savings for Celebrity. Less paper and sharing of coupons. I,wonder why it was not successful. Did they do a survey and ask you if you liked it?

Yes, Michael's Club was used as the location for the Elite and above gatherings up until they implemented the reciprocity with Royal Caribbean.

They had not anticipated the huge cross over of Royal Caribbean Diamond and Diamond + passengers, who overwhelmed the Elite facilities on Celebrity ships.

Even after moving the Elite events from Michael's Club to the sky lounge, they found that on some cruises there were still too many Elites to accommodate, the reason for starting to issue vouchers.

We heard that on some Celebrity cruises the majority of the Elite passengers turned out to be Royal Caribbean Diamond crossovers, and that was a key factor in the decision not to extend the reciprocity any further beyond the Diamond/Elite level.

You can certainly do it that way if you wish, but there is no need to wait until you use up one person's internet package before signing up for the second one.

We always sign up for both our internet packages on the first day of the cruise, just for the flexibility.

This way we can both be online at the same time, or one of us can use two different devices at the same time, and either one of us can use either package, however we wish.

As others have said, I just want to re-emphasize that it is important to log out of your Celebrity account each time.

Don't just turn off the device you are using without first logging out of your Celebrity account because the clock on your account keeps running and eating up your available minutes for awhile until it eventually times out (unless they have changed things recently).

Sometimes they have given us extra bonus minutes, for one reason or another, and we did have to wait until we had used up our regular minutes on our accounts before we could add the bonus minutes.
