rocky813 Posted August 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I got an advertisement in February from NCL that stated I would get up to $500 ship credit, 2 free offers and, if I booked by the end of February, I would get an additional free offer. The free offers I chose were Ultimate drink package, upgraded dining, and free wifi. I paid the deposit. This month I went to go pay the balance and my packages were not attached. When I called NCL to discuss, the representative and supervisor treated me like an idiot and refused to give me the three free offers. I came on cruise critic to see if anyone else got scammed and I noticed that on Feb 1 2017, other members discussed the offer. Anyone have a copy of the email or mailings which stated there was a third offer if booked by the end of February? I'm sure the third offer isn't worth that much money but I was treated so poorly, it has become "the principle of the matter".

nednrom Posted August 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2017 The initial confirmation email with the booking reservation attachment has details. Mine shows all the promotions I received with the booking. Do you still have that?
rocky813 Posted August 3, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2017 My confirmation email did not indicate ANY upgrades but I know I picked three. Because I had never booked with this company, I didn't even worry that they weren't indicated on there because it did document what promotional code I used. BUT the customer service reps are acting like they NEVER offer 3 deals, only 2. :(
rocky813 Posted August 3, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Did you pay the balance because it was the final payment date? No, I have two more weeks before final payment is due.
easyboy Posted August 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Maybe you can check your booking's cancellation policy if you can still cancel and rebook, unless current price is now higher than your booked price. Could be your negotiation leverage, but not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
FLAHAM Posted August 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2017 When you logged in to MyNcl to complete your online checkin, did you click the adjacent "Vacation Summary" button which, beginning on the date of your reservation, lists all purchased items and promo (gratis) applicable items? Two Wheels Only Posted August 3, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2017 What type of stateroom did you book? Were you charged the service charge for the UBP and 3SDP? (usually $99.54 + $12.42 per person)? If you booked a guarantee or lower stateroom category, that might be why you didn't get the promos that you saw. garycarla Posted August 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 3, 2017 You have to go with what the confirmation email includes. (or does not include). Also, the category/cabin level is a factor in these promos. As said above, you have the choice to start over or take what you have, or of course cancel all together. Rare sid_9169 Posted August 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2017 It looks like the OP used a travel agent, in which case he should be mad at them, not NCL...
sanger727 Posted August 3, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I've never seen NCL offer 3 perks you can pick. The only thing close to it I've seen is pick 2 perks plus everyone gets 3rd and 4th sail free. I wonder if the third perk was actually from your TA, in which case your beef is with them. Linda the Book Lover Posted August 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2017 If OP used a travel agency I am surprised a call to NCL was not redirected back to the original TA. Perhaps NCL did refer the OP back to TA during the conversation.
European_CruiseGirl Posted August 3, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I believe "this company" means actually NCL in this case. They have never booked or cruised NCL before so did not know what to expect to see and not see on the confirmation. If they had gone though a travel agent NCL simply would not be even talking with them byt redirecting them to the agent. SuiteRose Posted August 3, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Check the category on the invoice.. if it ends with an X you did not get any offers as those cabins are excluded from the promotions. If you choose another category, you can change your choices for options... did you book direct with NCL? if not, they are not the bad guys. ray98 Posted August 3, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 3, 2017 It sounds like you just do not understand the promo's. I have never heard of them offering 3.
callmebetty Posted August 3, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I went way back in my emails (I never delete anything apparently).Between January 20 and February 2, they were offering NYC selects, where if you book certain NYC cruises you get 1. wifi, photos, calling, and some casino play 2. free balcony upgrade 3. 1, 2, or 5 perk offers. It was titled "3 Exclusive Offers" . Everything else is either 1, 2, or 5 based on room category, some with OBC, some with $50 deposits. I can't find anything that had 3 offers. Driberif1 Posted August 3, 2017 #19 Share Posted August 3, 2017 They always say "Up to five" which is included in Haven but I have never seen an offer for 3 myself. I have sailed multiple times with NCL and ever since they started doing the promo is has always been 2 for us. (always balcony rooms)

I'm sure the third offer isn't worth that much money but I was treated so poorly, it has become "the principle of the matter". The NCL rep told you exactly what was on your reservation. And despite any augments you may have, all they can go by is what is on your reservation. They are not going to give you a free promo just because you say so. Do you have anything to substantiate your claim of 3 perks? Did you review your reservation when it was made. Sounds like you clearly did not know what you were booking. And now you are mad because NCL won't give you a freebie just because you say to.
Travel R Posted August 4, 2017 #22 Share Posted August 4, 2017 Another member is keeping a database of promotions from NCL --- you may want to take a look to confirm the promotion that was available on the date you booked - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2450144
newmexicoNita Posted August 4, 2017 #23 Share Posted August 4, 2017 op, you haven't come back to tell us if you booked through NCL directed or a third party. If you booked with a TA they are the ones who screwed up. If you went through NCL and you didn't pay close attention to what you Mail said, you screwed up. Except for NCL being rude to you, they have done nothing wrong. I always love posters who have never posted before and come on the complain. Now you have 2 options, cancel and find another cruise line or go on your cruise and enjoy yourself with or without all the perks you think you were supposed to get.
ray98 Posted August 4, 2017 #24 Share Posted August 4, 2017 My bet is she booked a guarantee where the perks didn't attach. All the advertised perks she is mentioning is the ones which fall at the top of the scale for suites. If she picked UBP and SDP she would know it because she would have been assessed a sizable gratuity. If she booked without those gratuities she never selected the perks to begin with.
