KathleenM17 Posted November 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I'm curious! Which do you prefer out of Royal Caribbean's big ships / little ships? I personally love the larger ships as there is more to explore and enjoy. I also enjoy how modern they are. Do you have a preference of ship size for cruising with Royal Caribbean? If yes, why!
Clarea Posted November 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Vision class, small, but larger main pool area than Radiance class. More outside visibility in the Solarium too.
KuffMUp Posted November 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Small. I don't need ziplines, bumper cars, sky diving simulators, flow riders. Plus the bigger ships are just so...huge. Lots of people.
BillB48 Posted November 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2017 While I am very pleased with all of Royal's ships up to and including the Freedom Class, I am very fond of the Vision and Radiance classes. Oasis class not so much, Q class have not had a chance to kick the tires yet.
Saab4444 Posted November 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Big ships are too big for many interesting ports. We prefer smaller RCL ships because they can access nice areas all over the world and are still very big compared to other ships. Too many big ships are the reason for overcrowded places like Dubrovnik, Venice and Santorini. An Oasis class ship will never be able to go there anyway. They will always do the same 7 day Caribbean East and West and Western Med cruises. If I want water slides, zip lines or bumper cars I would go to Disney World or any other amusement park. For me cruising is for feeling the ocean and for the destinations.
OfTheSeasCruiser Posted November 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Both. For different reasons, depending on what I'm looking for with that particular cruise.
Ladysilver Posted November 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I like the smaller ships also. The huge ships are not for me. Don't care for the amusement park atmosphere or the huge crowds. :)
leaveitallbehind Posted November 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2017 While there is something I like with all classes, Freedom and Radiance class are probably my two favorites.
CanadaRob Posted November 23, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2017 LIke Radiance class for where they can go-Southern Caribbean especially but Mediterranean too. Also like the lack of real shopping mall feel, Centrum feels small which I like Also like Quantum class(especially liked Dynamic Dining when it was a thing) for 270, bumper cars and flying into New York area. Oasis class should be done at least one time
BonTexasNY Posted November 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Small, small, small. Rhapsody was my favorite ship. Liked it better than Voyager class. We board the Liberty on Dec. 3. First time on Freedom class. Maybe I'll change my mind?
loman Posted November 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Bigger is better. For me , anyway.
Esilef Posted November 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I really like the radiance class of ship. Anything bigger feels owner crowded and less personal. Sent from my iPad using Forums
handbellplayer Posted November 23, 2017 #13 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Both. For different reasons, depending on what I'm looking for with that particular cruise. Ditto. Love the entertainment on the bigs and the intimacy and lack of crowds on the smalls.
SamFritz Posted November 23, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I liked the Radiance class best until they “improved” them. I’m a fan of Freedom class now. I did Ossis once; would do it again when sailing with teenagers who need distractions and things to keep them busy. superduper123 Posted November 23, 2017 #15 Share Posted November 23, 2017 The largest ship I have sailed was the Navigator. I did not like it as much as Vision and Radiance class, so am reluctant to try a bigger class. Although I know they appeal to a lot of people for their variety of activities, I am perfectly happy on the smaller ships. :)
starlake Posted November 23, 2017 #16 Share Posted November 23, 2017 Love the Radiance class, but I also love to cruise. So most sizes are great
JJSMaine Posted November 23, 2017 #17 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I think I enjoyed the radiance class ship more than others. All the glass means sightlines to the water everywhere you go... but I appreciate that the larger ships create a destination that competes well with Carnival .. and I may choose the Anthem next year for many reasons... I think that if you are "been there and done that" the smaller ships give you all you could want, but if you are looking for and "eyes wide open" experience the larger ships are able to provide that... I sailed on Adventures 4th voyage... refreshed my Scuba cert.. had an awesome balcony.. and a skating rink was all the rage... we've come along way since then, eh? cb at sea Posted November 23, 2017 #18 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I think the Voyager class is about the perfect size....wasn't as fond of the Radiance class...mainly because there's no open-air adult pool...the solarium roof remains closed....don't like that at all. CapeCoralCruiser Posted November 24, 2017 #19 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Radiance class, for ocean views from so many locations, outdoor WJ dining, location of DL/CL - more great views up on 13. Although we had a balcony for our recent Alaska cruise, the views from DL were even better. Freedom class, when we need a WOW promenade fix and a little Flow rider time. Solarium w/cantilevered whirlpools and DL location. Lately, we've favored smaller classes. Since last Nov.; Serenade, Rhapsody, Radiance, Majesty & Empress X2 vs 1 Indy. Mikew0805 Posted November 24, 2017 #20 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Radiance class is my favorite. Views of the ocean from everywhere, and I love the forward balconies on deck 7.
Rare BirdTravels Posted November 24, 2017 #21 Share Posted November 24, 2017 We love the big ships. We have spent several decades on the small ships and have been totally sold on the resort feel of the big ships.
sellwingri Posted November 24, 2017 #22 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Another vote here for Radiance class. I absolutely love the centrum and the glass views from just about everywhere. I was on Oasis 3 weeks ago (my first mega ship) and while it was beautiful, it honestly didn't feel like I was on a cruise. We had to go back to our room balcony to see the water. NouCruzer Posted November 24, 2017 #23 Share Posted November 24, 2017 We love the big ships. We have spent several decades on the small ships and have been totally sold on the resort feel of the big ships. As a relatively recent cruiser, I agree. So much to do on the big ships. But on port intensive itineraries, the smaller ships really shine. Our first cruise on Splendour from Venice to Croatia, Turkey and Greece was really exceptional without all the bells and whistles of the Oasis Class. north29 Posted November 24, 2017 #24 Share Posted November 24, 2017 The big ships are nice for some people but I prefer nothing larger than the Freedom Class.
sea shepherd Posted November 24, 2017 #25 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Oasis or Quantium class. As my benefits are best on them ones. I lose benefits going on anything smaller. My small ship days are over after January. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
