pseudoware Posted December 17, 2017 #26 Share Posted December 17, 2017 We have some that we always bring. I've once tried one with a plastic holder, but I found it too much trouble, especially when trying to enter our cabin while carrying stuff. I've brought a small hole punch our last couple of cruises. pseudoware Posted December 17, 2017 #27 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Not sure why people feel the need to let us know they don't use a lanyard. Lanyards are for for the tracksuit crowd. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Rare MicCanberra Posted December 17, 2017 #29 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Not sure why people feel the need to let us know they don't use a lanyard. Different courses for different horses; no one is making you use one. I agree, is it that they cannot afford one or they cannot get the lanyards over their ego's.;p

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk Strange as tracksuits have pockets, I wear a lanyard when my shirt and pants do not have pockets (i.e day wear on the ship). sloopsailor Posted December 17, 2017 #32 Share Posted December 17, 2017 I just hang my card from my nose ring. No lanyard needed. Unless I am wearing my track suit. Then I tie it to the waistband string.
pseudoware Posted December 17, 2017 #33 Share Posted December 17, 2017 In the pool, no where to fasten my card to my Speedos. Fortunately, it attaches nicely to one of my nipple rings. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
jocap Posted December 17, 2017 #34 Share Posted December 17, 2017 Ours all have the ship's name on, so I can only use them when we're on the same ship. Last cruise I wore one with Barbados on, for chilly Norway.
SantaFeFan Posted December 17, 2017 #35 Share Posted December 17, 2017 OP, based on your fondness for lanyards and tracksuits, perhaps Gilligan would be a better avatar than Thurston Howell III.

As is using a lanyard (not mine personally, but for some). I can understand reacting to someone asking how to smuggle booze onboard or how far one can go in ignoring clear dress codes, but the responses in this thread seem mostly to be what's called "threadcrapping." "Threadcrapping"? I thought the suggestions on using nose or nipple rings quite valuable. Being aware of additional options is always a good thing. ;)
billslowsky Posted December 18, 2017 #44 Share Posted December 18, 2017 I carry my card in my pocket mostly, i got one of the cords like a phone cord that clips on a belt loop from the casino. Out of sight and out of mind.
bob brown Posted December 18, 2017 #45 Share Posted December 18, 2017 I will admit to at one time wearing lanyards, with or without the plastic card holder....at first I liked collecting the free ones awarded for playing trivia, or complimentary ones received for booking a cruise on board, etc.... I liked to wear the 'appropriate' one, or other clothing article, for whichever line I was sailing on. I have never had to purchase one at the shops on board.... In recent years, the novelty has worn off, and unless I am at some activity where wearing them is a necessity (such as boarding a Zodiac on an Artic shore excursion), I will keep my keycard in my pocket. I will still collect them when I can. One caution to those using their own hole punch....some ships have "smart" chips embedded, so better to let the front desk do the punching for you....:)

ldubs Posted December 19, 2017 #47 Share Posted December 19, 2017 I'll bite. What's "threadcrapping"? Per Google & Urban Dictionary: Thread crapping occurs when a person comes into a thread and posts something contrary to the spirit/intent of the thread, often derailing the discussion or turning it into an argument. For example: Coming into a thread titled "I love my new Apple Mac", and posting "PCs are better and cheaper".

Rare sprint180 Posted December 19, 2017 #49 Share Posted December 19, 2017 This is the kind of lanyard we use. It works great for us. You don't have a card hanging in the way. We just hook on a belt loop or waist band, my daughter even hung hers from her neck collar in a pinch. just pull the cord to open your door or scan your card. Very easy. SRF Posted December 19, 2017 #50 Share Posted December 19, 2017 Missed sales for the cruise line. Sail specific (ship/dates/itinerary) for souvenirs. I was just in Disney Shanghai, NO Disney Shanghai specific fridge magnets. REALLY??? Marketing missed
