Diminishing Quality on Carnival?

In regard to complaints about kids I really have to say that BY FAR the most 'out of control kids' that we have ever experienced was on Royal Allure. Loved the ship but unruly and misbehaving kids became a constant issue for us. Once again this is something that CCL absolutely does not have a monopoly on.

I am a cranky old fart....LOL. Did Havana on Vista in November...thought it was awesome....but only a upgraded/quieter Serinity vibe. Just cruised Yacht Club on MSC Seaside at a similar price point to Havana....no comparison...Now that is Heaven!!! Economy Plus for Havana...1st Class for yacht Club

One of these days I hope to be able to afford YC. LOL!

The "cheapest" I've found for a 7-nighter was around $2,000 pp including taxes/fees. So $4k total.

But I'd agree on the analogy. :)

I have noticed a few changes over the years, but nothing that is deal breaker for me. The chocolates were gross, and I have never liked the food. The crew has always been attentive and friendly. I cruise to relax and get away from my day to day life...Carnival allows me to do this at a reasonable price.

I have been on all of the cruise lines and Carnival is the best in Food. The quality, and the variety of offerings(Guys, Blue Iguana, BBQ place, Sandwich shop and other places), and the service provided is far above any of the other Cruise lines. HAL and Princess comes close to Carnival, but less variety. Our Experience on Royal has been disappointing in terms of quality and service. The entertainment on Carnival seems to be below average, although the last cruise on the Conquest in Feb, the production shows were upgraded to incredible visual and special effects. Carnival upgraded the theatre in Oct. when they were in dry dock. The only quality of service that Carnival that has diminished is the elimination of all channels on the TV except CNN (3 channels). CNN has no news except talking about Trump 24/7. Everyone on the cruise were complaining that they were kept in the dark about news and the weather. On our other Carnival cruises, all network stations were provided , plus MSNBC and FOX News.

I agree.

For what I like about cruising -

Variety of foods prepared well;

Comfortable cabins with good beds/bedding/pillows;

Non-Main Show entertainment;

Continuous non-sport daytime activities;

Casino

Carnival hits the mark at all the right places.

It doesn't mean that I don't cruise other lines, it just means that I'm looking at Carnival first. I find that Carnival offers what I like.

Ok a lot here about Carnival being a Budget line and things not being as upscale. However, I just went on a 7 day cruise on Princess because it was $100 less than the 7 day on Carnival. I there for would expect the quality of food to be the same. I don't except same activities and such. I just booked a 3 night on Carnival and I hope the food and drink quality is not down. My last Carnival was Dec and I did not feel it was.

There have been plenty of negative remarks. Fire away! Have at it! I for one am realistic enough to understand that not everyone has a good experience.

My experiences are probably better due to taking cruises in the fall and early winter. I also prefer longer cruises. The clientele us usually a bit more mature (age) and closer to my age.

I agree, and it's no different than any other trip not just a Cruise. Everyone's experiences can be different, we have been on 10 and about to go on our 11th. Some were better than others, definitely the ones in April or May have been the best! As you said more mature group due to Spring Break being over and school not out yet.

So what will happen if you state any negative opinions about 'this site' that doesn't allow 'any negative opinions on Carnival' ..

The cheerleaders will jump on you. One in particular. Back when the stewards were saying you could only have morning or evening service, he jumped on my post and said that it was untrue when I had personally witnessed it.

For me and I would say also for many others, it isn't cheerleading so much as arguing against opinions that Carnival is automatically 'the worst of everything' as compared to all others. That is not true at all in my experience.

As for the subject of this thread my only point in every post is that if Carnival has experienced diminishing quality they are certainly not alone, so has the 'ultimate' Royal Caribbean in regard to at least one of their top ships.

When I hear complaints about food on Carnival I can't help but remember my favorite response to my DH's question 'What do you want for dinner?'. My standard response is always 'Anything that doesn't involve me, and a kitchen!'.

Carnival satisfies that requirement for me. I always manage to find something good to eat on a cruise. Sometimes, even something great! I guess I'm just not as picky as some.

And to the nutritionist Stateroom_Sailor critiquing everyone's choice in meals, I'll say that if you DARE to ever question my choice of Guy's Burgers, red meat and Banana Pudding, you better hope your clothes are not dry-cleanable, because you're likely to be wearing what I'm eating! After all, I already paid for it, I can get more!

Not an opinion, a fact witnessed by myself and my wife. The man (cheerleader) called us liars. Did the monitors jump in, no.

I find that the monitors have so much to review that if you want them to jump in, you need to report the post (just check the triangle in the upper right corner of the post).

The other thing I find is that people will say things here on CC because they are far more anonymous than on some other social media sites.

I wonder how many of the meanies on BOTH sides of this debate would say some of the things to each other if they were face to face in the MDR, or RFP!
