Rare BostonGal35 Posted July 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2018 holy crap that is a lot of money to spend on a brand new ship. given the large Asian population on teh west coast, why not try it out as is, aside from making menus in english, etc.
Rare Laszlo Posted July 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I love the spin, is it really a Booming Demand" or no demand it China?
Tommy3putts Posted July 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Seems the China Market demand isn’t as robust as originally thought. Will be interesting to see how other cruise lines respond.
Rare ColeThornton Posted July 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Might just be coincidence but NCLH is up $3.62 as of this posting.

LrgPizza Posted July 18, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Should have the District Brewhouse added don't you think? Sandra Since it says they are going to "bring her designs and offerings to be virtually identical to those of her sister ship, Norwegian Bliss", I think that can be assumed. Rare PATRLR Posted July 18, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I love the spin, is it really a Booming Demand" or no demand it China? You know it's not enough demand. The thing that surprises me is how they could so badly screw up projections.

Alaska is a lucrative market. With Apollo sell off... the gaming aspect of the joy was likely not as lucrative in China. I suspected this switch after the huge success of the Bliss Alaska and rumors of the Pearl in Europe.
roxette Posted July 18, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2018 The Spirit reposition cruises are really high up on my list. I'd love to see Africa by cruise ship.

Georgie562 Posted July 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I hope Norwegian is smart about it an offers a variety of Mexico cruises i.e. Sea of Cortez, a stop in Acapulco, 8, 9, 10 day itineraries instead of the same old 7 day 3 port itineraries. RossE Posted July 18, 2018 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Wonder if they'll paint over the hull art. I kind of like the Dragon, and they do have a ship with the Statue of Liberty on it sailing in Europe. I agree - that would be awesome! More options for the West Coast. We did a 9-day on the Star this past March and loved the itinerary and would love to see more! GateGuardian Posted July 18, 2018 #19 Share Posted July 18, 2018 So does NCL still own by Star Cruises? If so, my guess is that they're pretty much in competition with themselves now that they have their own Breakaway ship....
Georgie562 Posted July 18, 2018 #20 Share Posted July 18, 2018 So excited that this will be year round out of the West Coast! Agree. I'm not familiar with what "Apollo sell off" is or what this sentence means, but I am very curious. Can someone explain further, or point me to some reading material that would enlighten me? Absolutely. Done two Mexican west coast cruises, no reason to do another unless they change up the itineraries.
LrgPizza Posted July 18, 2018 Author #23 Share Posted July 18, 2018 We really want to do a west coast Mexico cruise, but none of the ships there have ever appealed to us. This is exciting news for us.
Rare BostonGal35 Posted July 18, 2018 #24 Share Posted July 18, 2018 acapulco needs to be dumped as a stop. its currently i believe a Level 3 with the state department and it is just gross.
Alegeeter Posted July 18, 2018 #25 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I wonder what will happen to all the Chinese speaking staff they specifically hired and trained for the Joy. I imagine many will staff the Spirit on the seasonal cruises to China but I can't help but think many will be out of a job
