Clarea Posted August 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Does anyone know what the benefits are for being a share holder with RCI? http://www.rclcorporate.com/investors/shareholder-benefit/ Note carefully all the restrictions. It's near impossible to get the benefit anymore.
Ocean Boy Posted August 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Lately.... none. Technically it is good for some onboard credit but it is not combinable with any promotions. And RCI is constantly running promotions even though they rarely save anyone any money.
sandebeach Posted August 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Six cruises in the last 18 months and I was denied my shareholder credit on all of them because I had booked with discounts/promotions. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Clarea Posted August 2, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Six cruises in the last 18 months and I was denied my shareholder credit on all of them because I had booked with discounts/promotions. That's happening more and more with the balcony discount too. All they have to do is deem that a fare has an "instant discount" (and the total fare does not even have to change) and it's not combinable with the balcony discount anymore. LorraineP Posted August 2, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2018 Forget about stockholder’s OBC. Impossible to get. Haven’t gotten it in years but I keep sending my request in to annoy them, always rejected. To me it’s false advertising. Would be interesting to hear if anyone recently got it. Parrothead234 Posted August 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2018 The stock has done real well, dividends are nice, but OBC is impossible. It does seem like false advertising. Another competitor cruise line has never denied my shareholder OBC.

Another competitor cruise line has never denied my shareholder OBC. I also have Carnival & NCL stock & I get OBC every time on Holland & NCL cruises no matter what promo I book with. RCL stop saying OBC is a benefit of owning stock because it’s never allowed.

Another competitor cruise line has never denied my shareholder OBC. Oh go ahead and say it. CCL owned lines( Carnival, Princess, HAL, etc) almost always grant shareholder OBC, at pretty much any rate, and combination of deals. I only exceptions I have heard about is casino discounted cruises and travel agents traveling on their special rate. Princess also has a Veterans Benefit of an equivalent amount that is combine able with the shareholder benefit. The main reason I still hold CCL stock, but have sold my RCL stock. sandebeach Posted August 3, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2018 I have received CCL shareholder OBC on HAL and Carnival, even though the cruises were booked with a casino discount. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

asylum575 Posted August 4, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 4, 2018 We are booked on Oasis in a couple of weeks. We booked two Central Park balconies and submitted for the OBC and received it the same day. DW and I split up with kids, OBC on one cabin. Cashed in some BOA credit card rewards for some more OBC, processed in 24 hours.

zebra36 Posted August 4, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Usually book IS or OV cabins and have yet to be denied the shareholder benefit. Sometimes when OBC is included in reservation they will offset that against the shareholder OBC. I do have a reservation for next year with a MyVegas reward and will be interesting to see how they will handle my request for shareholder OBC. This has been my experience as well with my inside cabins. It's only been denied if I have managed to get some sort of really special pricing. Blizzard54 Posted August 4, 2018 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2018 I really dont believe I've ever been denied a balcony discount Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk But that is not a shareholder discount. Shareholder discount has not been combinable with any balcony discount for some time now.

I get them on almost all of my inside bookings. I have a couple that had a $50 OBC for booking so Shareholder added the difference to make it $100. You can also get them for OV cabins. If you get a C&A balcony discount you can not get the Shareholder OBC.
Batbabe Posted August 4, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 4, 2018 My understanding is RCCL is doing away with OBC when booking a cruise. I’m wondering if the stockholders will now be able to receive some OBC??? Sent from my iPad using Forums

I’m wondering if the stockholders will now be able to receive some OBC??? It sounds like they are doing away with some of the OBC when booking a cruise onboard, but not all of it. zebra36 Posted October 3, 2018 #23 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Got my first refusal this morning. Booked a cruise during a GGG sale and suspected this would happen. Now trying to catch a MyVegas reward and again guessing this will be refused also but have to try.
wolfcathorse Posted October 3, 2018 #24 Share Posted October 3, 2018 you have to keep trying because you don't know what RCI considers "special". We have an interior booked on Grandeur and we were granted the shareholder OBC. So I must not have booked during GGG, WOW, or Nickel and Dime Me Please. DfDinLA Posted October 3, 2018 #25 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Dividends and capital gains. Any other benefits are minor in comparison. And as a shareholder you actually want the company to clamp down on the costs paid for this benefit. You are a shareholder full time but a cruiser infrequently.
