Last night for dinner I made one of our favourites - duck ragu.  You make a tomato sauce with a mixture of onion, tinned toms, fresh toms, garlic, chilli flakes, a slug of white wine, some oregano.  You cook it then blitz it in a blender.  You then roast duck legs until the skin is crisp (or you could fry a tin of duck confit) and shred the meat off the bones.   Reserve the cooking fat. You then take some baby toms, halve and season them, and roast in a hot oven until they blister.  Then some black olives, chopped, and a small handful of green peppercorns.  Combine everything into a ragu and serve with gnocchi or, as we did, with polenta.  It's time consuming but quite yummy and comes from a great Italian cookbook called Polpo.

If you have never been to Crater Lake, in southern Oregon, it is definitely a bucket list item.

Love the tasty pictures of the shrimp from J.P. and the duck ragu from Fletcher.  Making me hungry!!  Agree with above about the some of the nice areas to consider in Oregon.  Have only been in the Portland and Columbia River areas.  Need to go back to your state!!  Sounds like you live in an enjoyable part of that state.  BUT, getting to Oregon is not as handy and quick for us in Ohio compared to reaching other prime U.S. locations.  Given the slowness for cruising and international travel to return to "normal", more of us will be looking at these types of domestic travel options.

Below are a couple of more contemporary American comedy voices.  One more urban, the other with more of a country touch/style.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Good morning!!   More continued hot, HOT, HOT!! weather here in Central Ohio and for many parts of the U.S.   To be a high here of 92F with the "real feel" for the conditions to be like 102F due to the humidity, etc.  But, I see nationally that the Southeast, including Florida, will be getting hit with many storms today.  Good luck surviving.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Good morning,  I am in the process having new bathroom fixtures installed........the plumber is here now. 2 new

faucets and one for the shower.  I decided on the brushed nickel finish. Hoping they hold up a bit better than the

chrome.  My old ones look really grungy and time for some new/nicer ones!

Terry, we always get rains in the summer😲.....like clock work in the afternoons................

Veal meatballs with lots of cracked pepper, and a cream sauce. Over Spätzle.

With a Gewürztraminer from Standing Stone winery (a Seneca Lake winery, recently bought by Wiemer).

Funny how it's a clean sweep for the umlauts with dinner tonight! Veal meatballs in German are Kalbsfleischbällchen,  according to Google translate.

Now time to enjoy an after-dinner drink in the sunroom. We plan to celebrate not being on call with a Nolet's and tonic. We will try it with a light tonic tonight.. A pleasant way to pass the evening!

As always, great looking food visual from J.P.  We like "food porn"!!  Still waiting to find out if and when home delivery to us in Ohio is possible.  Keep it coming!

No disrespect intended but she looks exactly like Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffery Epstien’s “ Madam.”

Interesting "eye" and good question.  No "disrespect" taken.  Below are pictures of those two ladies.  Dorothy Parker was way, way before my times as she was born in 1893.  I can see some resemblance, kind of, maybe.  Ms. Maxwell is an Oxford grad and had a father with a rather unique and twisted history.  Her future?  Maybe living in "government housing"?  Lots of rich, high-powered folks worrying now as to what this Epstein friend/associate might say when testifying in court.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

That should be 1961.

Great, sharp eye.  My goof!!  In my old age, these tired eyes were mixing up an eight with a six.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio
