danak13 Posted September 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2018 We booked Le Bistro, Cagney's and Teppanyaki. Is the dress code in these restaurants different than the rest of NCL's more casual vibe? Specifically for men?
Rare KeithJenner Posted September 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Teppenyaki and Cagneys have exactly the same dress code as the rest of the restaurants (in fact slightly below the aft dining room on most ships). Le Bistro, along with that aft dining room has the slightly stricter dress code, in that you aren’t allowed to wear shorts. The details are on the NCL website. tempus137 Posted September 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Only Le Bistro is different. It's called dress casual - long pants, collared shirt (polo shirt OK) & closed toe shoes.

dexddd Posted September 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Thank you! I was asking because I read a review that stated men had to wear jackets in Le Bistro Not sure what ship or venue they'd be talking about, but I haven't worn a jacket on any NCL ship in any venue since before 2006. Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2018 A member of our party was turned away at dinner in Cagney's for golf wearing shorts and collared shirt. Had to go back to the cabin to change into long pants. This was last year on the Epic.
martinchem Posted September 26, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Just got off Escape. Cagney's, Moderno and Manhattan all as casual as going to McDonald's. Things have changed in the MDRs since our LAST NCL cruise just two years ago. Food and service were excellent, but some guests really dressed as if for the buffet. Rare JamieLogical Posted September 26, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2018 I have only heard of the dress code being enforced for Le Bistro. That being long pants and a collared shirt for men. In my experience, even the more formal MDR is pretty lax about enforcement. I have definitely seen people in shorts and sandals in there.
FLAHAM Posted September 26, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Don't forget your shorts, t shirt and ball cap.
Maniacal Cruiser Posted September 26, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Only Le Bistro is different. It's called dress casual - long pants, collared shirt (polo shirt OK) & closed toe shoes. Collared shirt is not required. I eat there every cruise and I wear jeans and a tshirt. No problem.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted September 26, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 26, 2018 I always seem to err on the side of caution, perhaps it's b/c I've seen some pax turned away for not adhereing to the recommended dress code. I prefer the aft dining room and have seen some (especially men) turned away since they're wearing shorts and t-shirts... how well is it enforced, I don't know, since DH and I always dressed at the minimum or better. It's really not a probem if you don't dress for the aft Mdr (or more formal MDR) since you can just turn around and dine the other, less formal dining room. They serve the same menu from the same galley with the same type of wait staff.............It's all good. Enjoy. :)

psac Posted September 27, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Specifically from the NCL website, definitely Le Bistro and maybe Bayamo: Dress smart casual in our more formal dining room or in our more upscale specialty restaurants. For women, it includes slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, it's jeans or slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toed shoes. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants. Last time we were there ourselves was with the old dress code. Will know how it is now soon. :)
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 27, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 27, 2018 We booked Le Bistro, Cagney's and Teppanyaki. Is the dress code in these restaurants different than the rest of NCL's more casual vibe? Specifically for men? On the Pearl, shorts are allowed in all restaurants for all meals EXCEPT Le Bistro and the Summer Palace. Le Bistro and Summer Palace require long pants (jeans, dockers, etc.), collared shirt, and close toe shoes. Coats and/or ties are never required on any NCL ship. Be comfortable. Enjoy the Western Caribbean!

Maniacal Cruiser Posted September 27, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I ONLY wear shirt and jeans anywhere I go. I've never been turned away from dining anywhere on any NCL ship. We do specialty dining every night of every cruise. Never an issue on any of the following. Is the Bliss not the same? On Escape, all MDRs including the Manhattan Room are cruise casual. Shorts are fine in all 3. Same for Bliss. Only LeBistro and Bayamo require long pants but even for those 2, enforcement can be....fluid.
Two Wheels Only Posted September 27, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Specifically from the NCL website, definitely Le Bistro and maybe Bayamo: Dress smart casual in our more formal dining room or in our more upscale specialty restaurants. The website gives general info which isn't specific for every ship. The dailies for each ship will list the restaurants that are smart casual. gambit57 Posted September 27, 2018 #21 Share Posted September 27, 2018 When I went to Le Bistro, I was wearing REI hiking pants and a Columbia dri-fit type long sleeve (no collar). No mention of my dress code. I actually forgot it had a special dress code until I got in there and noticed the waiters in tux type uniforms and the guests were in slightly better dress than normal.
