Did you see I added the menu as an edit to my post?  I’ll do it again in case you missed it.62DD339C-CDD7-4D2C-ACE8-C1ECDA666319.thumb.jpeg.239a968a67698ca123e2584f7a0e2f85.jpeg

Looks like the cocktails and Saketinis are still under the $9 SBP price, which is a good thing.

Some lunchtime treats in the Grand Dutch Cafe (the bitterballen don't come out until 4:30)

Broodje Kroket, Tosti (grilled ham & cheese), Appeltaart and a "heerlijk, helder Heineken" to wash it down. Great choices! That place will fast become my fav :classic_biggrin: Don't recognize the top one with the orange forks. Thanx for the pics, Ann and enjoy!

Is that Gabriel’s wife?  I was thinking her name was Irene....  we met them both on Koningsdam.  I will give her your regards.  We chatted with them both the other night when we had dinner in the S de M.

Arlin is a blonde Dutch woman- was PG Manager on Oosterdam previously.  She is wonderful- please do give her our best!

The top one , Copper , was my herring!  I took it over to the counter to photograph, so I could get a bit more of the ambience of the Dutch Cafe.  I will try to get more pictures of the goodies.

Love the Tosti.

Food porn alert!

i had dinner in the Tamarind tonight. While it was very good, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. Service was excellent. Appetizers were very good. But I was disappointed in my entree it was wok seared shrimp and lobster with shiitake mushrooms and bok choy. While tasty, the lobster came in little pieces still inside the shell. They didn’t even bring me a little

fork to make it easier to dig out. I don’t mind eating food by hand, but on a gala night I wasn’t happy about having to use my fingers to assist my getting the meat out. Dessert was fantastic. A mango posset.

Did you ask for a lobster fork and they had none to offer or did you assume they had none?

p.s. It does look good enough to eat with your fingers though 😉

Footstools on the balconies. Regular verandas have two semi-adjustable lounge chairs and two footstools. One small round table.

No DVD players. Instead there is a very large flatscreen tv mounted to the wall opposite the bed. It is an interactive system which has a lot of movies and tv shows as well as need and sports stations. Kind of like what they have on airplanes now.

Thank you!  I will leave both my footstool and DVDs home!

It was hard looking for your answer among the Great Roe Debate posts!   EEEWWWWEEEE

The “cast” production show tonight wasn’t  like we’ve seen before it featured 6 dancers, a music soundtrack with contemporary songs - Uptown Funk, Dust in the Wind, and others. The show is called Humanity. There was quite a bit of computer graphics as support for each number. The show last about 45 minutes and it was non-stop from start to finish. I stole a few pictures near the end, but honestly, I was too enraptured to think to take any earlier. A fantastic show and it was the “world premier” showing. We are the first to experience it.

.................................. and also a dish with a toast, cheese, ham and fried egg. It was delicious. Do they still have it?

Thank you so much for all the pics and info. Got less than 2 weeks 😁

That's called an "Uitsmijter" in Dutch and it should be on the Grand Dutch Cafe menu, at least it was on Koningsdam

I did not ask. I’m not sure they had one. I did tell the server when she came by to ask how everything was that it was hard to get at the lobster and she made no effort to rectify the situation. Perhaps if I were in a different mood I might have pressed further but I was annoyed a little and I try not to engage people when I’m in that frame of mind. It didn’t ruin the meal, as everything else was top notch.

I know the feeling well.  Glad you enjoyed the meal and appreciate your comments and photos.  We love the Koningssdam and am sure we will also enjoy the new ship.

Two of us had the wok seared shrimp and lobster the first time we ate there, and we told them they needed to do something about the lobster problem, and the second time we ate there the person who picked it also let them know it was difficult to extract the lobster, so they definitely are aware! Maybe there will be changes.

It certainly is on the menu - I haven’t managed to get a picture as it is always being eaten too quickly for me to get my phone out.

If you haven't had one yet for breakfast, you've gotta do so! I promise it'll be worth it

Do not forget to try "Poffertjes", tiny pancakes. Someone from America said it's pronounced "povages" and that's precisely right.

I'm amazed you liked the herring, which is raw fish that has "ripened". Besides eating living oysters, but that's not particularly Dutch, that must be the most adventurous Dutch food available I know of.  🙂
