Quantum class (eg Anthem, Ovation) overcrowded?

I notice that many of the negative reviews for the Quantum class ships mention overcrowding, compared to other ships both bigger and smaller.

However, it seems that actually the Quantum class ships have a relatively high space to passenger ratio:

Can anyone explain this disparity from their experience of these ships?

I've been on the Anthem three times, and yeah, the Promenade can be a pain at times. During sales or other events, after a big show lets out, etc. In general, though, I didn't find the ship to be over-crowded. Sometimes I was surprised how easy it was to find a place to relax.

In general not any worse than other ships and like other ships, at times, like after show gets out or sales, it can get crowded in certain parts. .

Hi ☺️

Onboard Anthem the only time I experienced crowds were after muster, after a show at the Royal Theater, after a show at the Two70° venue, during a sale on the Royal Esplanade, and when disembarking.

☺️

This is almost exactly the same on the Ovation.  The only differences were...when the Ovation was in Asia, the casinos got crowded....when the Ovation was in Australia, the bars got crowded. :classic_rolleyes:😀

Answer depends when you cruise.  Winter months with school in session Anthem sails around 4180 double occupancy.  In summer with lots of families on board they often reach max capacity of 4905.  Don't stress though, our 9 night sailing last July was complete sellout yet we didn't feel overcrowded.

We never felt crowded on Anthem.  Maybe the same people complaining about crowds are the same one who complain about buffet food.  If you are on a ship with other people there will always seem to be a crowd somewhere at sometime.  Just find a nice seat and people watch until the sale is over.

Overall, I didn't find it crowded.  I did find parts of it crowded because while they have a lot of space, some of it used for very low throughput activities.  The North Star, iFly, BumperCars etc use a lot of space for relatively few people at that time making other areas more crowded.  The promenade could get heavily trafficed, but easy to get around it.  Same for the Solarium if weather was less than optimal the chair hogs were out early.

As above, I think the design concentrates people to more specific flows, so some may perceive that it's more crowded.

There are certainly very quest areas on the ship. However, I think traffic is more consolidated than it is on other ships, so if you go to certain spaces/locations it may appear crowded if you're looking for things to be unhappy with.
