So only the little insert n the case indicates status and all medallions are blue - is that correct?

There are different card inserts that they sell for $2.50 each but they come standard with a generic blue card.

The Medallions are now colored according to the color of your level. At one time they were putting a sticker on the Medallions to indicate levels but that has stopped.

I would love to get the dimensions of the medallion and card/case it is contained in. Making up some custom cards for our group that fit in the case would be fun.

The Medallion itself is 1 3/16 " in diameter & 3/16" inch thick in the center. (slightly thinner towards the edges).

The card insert that fits inside the plastic holder they give you is 2 9/16" high by 2 " wide with the hole for the Medallion centered top & bottom. All 4 corners are also curved. They are also slightly magnetic which makes them stick inside of some of the jewelry cases thy sell.

The last I hear about is that they were modifying the program that lets you locate your cabin at any of the boards around the ship with a lost Medallion.

Who knows how long that will take?

Hi to all my Cruise Critic friends, I was told today by The Ocean Ready people that the Ocean Medallion will NOT be mailed out.

You will have to pick it up at the pier.

Fascinating. This seems to be a real off again/on again saga. Seems a lot of folks were told the exact same thing your were told. Then a couple of days later, someone advises they spoke with Princess and the devices are being sent out. It would be nice if everyone was getting the same scoop.

A real moving target!

Has anyone used a medallion in the casino?  If so, how does that work?

I have on the slots. You do a pin just like you did your cruise card. But now you just put the Medallion up against the sensor instead of inserting the cruise card. Can't speak to the tables.

I was told that by a girl at the Ocean Ready office and by a Supervisor (Raymond) at Princess Customer Relations.

I was told that today 1/6/2019.  Everyone at Princess just keeps saying i’m sorry,  i’m sorry, 😡

I was on the phone for at least 5 hours all together from the time I started with the Ocean Ready App. They had to fix one bug after another. Then I called to check when it was going to be mailed to me another hour wasted.

‘You can’t be serious 😳 😁. If I call back the only answer they give you is  i’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry.

Would you like some compensation for all your troubles.  I’m sorry

If they are voting for best entertainment of 2019, the medallion has got to win.  Today, I logged on, and was ME.  For the last few weeks, my screen name and password logged me on as "hello Catherine" - It was a known issue with Apple (one of the lesser known phones), but, still, it kept happening.  Today, I was "Hello Donald" -- I felt like, just maybe, I would scan in that the ship and not be seen as "Catherine"   Maybe that part is now working right.

The first time I punched the button on the app about mailing address for the medallions, I got the message: not necessary, you will get them at the pier.  Then later, I got my home address and an option to change that.  I did, since I will be in FLA before the cruise (This is mid-March, Regal) -- On the alternate address I put my last name, care of -- my relatives.   Now I wonder WHOSE name will be on the medallion??  Suspense!

AS of today, the app still has my shipping home address shown, as well as the alternate I picked.  I look forward to tomorrow.  Will I STILL be Donald, not Catherine?  Will my shipping address vanish?  And, as is the case, I am still not fully "completed", with the cruise personalizer circle not highlighted, even though I have looked at it, completed it and there is nothing left to do.  And the exclamation point that is still there  (meaning a problem) ? no clue as to what the problem is.

This must be like the adrenaline rush that bomb squads experience. Who knows what will happen? This is fun,-- sort of like hugging a porcupine.

If you see me on the ship, and we are in a bar, and I am following you VERY closely, I may just be trying to order a beer and get it put on your medallion! :classic_wacko:

On a different note: the medallion size seems to be the same diameter as an AA coin (maybe not a coincidence) - Ebay has some nice AA medallion holders.  Does anyone know if the AA holders would handle an Ocean Medallion, which is likely thicker?

I am just waking up to this whole Medallion thing as it's been 2 years since my last Princess cruise.  Now we are leaving on the Regal in 3 weeks and I just realized that the Medallion is finally in use on the Regal.  I'm sure my questions might be answered somewhere within thousands of posts but I'm hoping they might be answered here as well.   Thanks in advance!

*  Does everyone boarding automatically receive a Medallion or do I need to request it?

*  Are you able to decline the Medallion and just go with the old fashion key card? ...even better, can I have both?

*  When we board, we have one member of our party changing cabins to another family cabin.  If we have the Medallion, is it an easy process to change the Medallion to reflect the passenger, cabin, etc.?

*  Is the Medallion waterproof?

*  I see all these people taking it out of the holder and putting it in pockets, purses, etc.  Seems that it could get lost easily.  How is your account, cabin access, purchases, etc. protected if lost or stolen?

*  Last one - in this age where I carry credit cards in a RFID case, when walking around in ports, is my information on the Medallion safe?  Is my credit card # accessible on the Medallion?

Again, thanks for your answers.  (even if it is a link to the answer! ;)  )

I already posted this on another thread. Why spend all that time on the app when you get the medallion already prepared with your info at check in? What is the advantage?  If it saves you 5-10 minutes at check in but takes many hours at home I don't see the benefit. Maybe I am missing something.

In addition to getting your cruise started a bit early, doing it prior to checkin gives you the opportunity to add an avitar for each person.

I just prefer to not to have my photo displayed every time I pass an Ocean Conpass display screen.

Picked one avitar for my wife and one for me.

Just kinda fun too.

If it is taking many hours at home, then you are doing something wrong. It took me about 10 minutes to fully register myself and my wife.

I haven't used the Medallion, but did use my wowband on Royal Caribbean and you had to tap in and tap out of the machine. Is that the case for the Medallion as well?

I agree! We were on the CB a few weeks ago and the Medallion “lived” in our pockets or my purse unless needed. As an aside, I noticed the bulk of those wearing them on lanyards were first timers.

I would be one using the lanyard.  I never carried a purse on board (except a tiny evening purse on formal night).  Dont always have pockets either, so the lanyard or a wrist band would come in handy.

So seems you've always needed a lanyard for your cruise card so it really won't be much of a difference to you.  :classic_cool:

That's interesting because we are platinum, and our medallion cases are blue.

I think there’s still a “learning curve” on medallions. We’re platinum as well, the medallions themselves were correct color but card insert in plastic holder was blue.

Oh well...

Hi Judy - I can answer your last question, based on the reading I've done. I've been following this all pretty closely. I work in tech and love living in the future. :classic_happy:

Your credit card number is not recorded on the medallion. The only thing the medallion broadcasts is a number/code. The computers on the ship use that number/code to access your information on the database.

Did not need one but that is what I chose ,it is the most convenient for me. Have not lost my card in 39 cruises but I have found quite a few in the hot tub or pool!
