So the Blu folders are the CS and above and the silver are for SS. Have I got that the right way round?

These are both silver outside and blue inside. One is from a CS and the other from an RS. I'm not sure what colour SS are, does any one else? I had assumed all suites were silver

On three cruises in CS & RS's only once did we have an escort (RS).  After checking in for our July Baltic's cruise we were told to wait in the suites lounge area for an escort.   After a few minutes wait we escorted ourselves.   If it's your first time on a specific type ship I imagine it would be nice but it's not something we care about.   We usually go straight to Michaels.  There are NO downfalls to a suite!  You do need to let your Butler know what you want/need.  The MC concierge's have been extremely helpful.

We were in a Celebrity Suite on the Millennium trans-Pacific.  No one came to us at check-in to escort us, but as we were walking toward the ship after checking in, the Captain's Club representative saw us with our suite folder and escorted us to Michael's Club.  Wasn't something I was expecting, so we were pleasantly surprised.

The only times we have not had a personal escort was when cruising from Southampton where they tried to ‘group’ several suite guests together and then escort on block....I don’t know if some of your cruises were from Southampton....We know our way to Michael’s and like you simply headed there. We did not particularly expect an escort in Sydney or Hawaii but were pleasantly surprised to receive them, always had an escort when cruising from Florida and Mediterranean ports. We usually book RS with an occasional PH.

Totally agree with letting your butler know what you want/expect. Butler’s can be in a ‘no win’ situation if you don’t communicate....Accused of not looking after you if they leave you alone or ‘fussing’ if they call or try to do things for you....Agree MC concierges are very helpful but let them know early in the cruise if you want a tour of the galley, bridge etc so they have time to sort.

We are usually escorted to Michael’s to stash our carry-ons, then we go to Luminae for lunch.  I think Luminae will also watch your carry-on luggage if you don’t go to Michael’s first.  We always hit Michael’s first for a glass of wine to start our cruise.

We sailed out of Southampton on the TA in November.   We were escorted along with a couple checking in next to us.   Ended up that we were in adjacent CS's on Deck 6.

We've done SS, CS, RS and PH.  One out of 6 times we've had an escort to SS and I think that was due to booking 4 together.  In all other cases, we had an escort for the other suites.  Ultimately, it comes down to availability of staff.  If they have someone there, they will provide an escort.  I don't think they will want to hold you up if they do not have someone there and you can make your way as quickly on board.

I don't care who does the escort, my goal is to get on the ship!

This escort discussion reminded me of the way they used to escort us to our cabins back when we first started cruising with Celebrity.  You would pick up your glass of sparkling wine, mimosa or orange juice, and your escort would take most of your carry-on luggage.

They had lots of staff members available to escort passengers to their cabins.

Back in those days,  the doors to all the cabins were left propped open on embarkation day until the occupants of each cabin arrived and closed them.  We liked to walk down the corridors very slowly,  peeking into each cabin as we went along  to see what the different categories of accommodations looked like.

Our escorts liked to walk quickly, apparently in a hurry to get us to our destination and drop us off so they could go back and pick up the next passengers to escort.

So some of us would try to decline the escort, in order to go down the long corridors at our own pace.  "No, thank you.  We already know where our cabin is located and don't need an escort.  Why don't you just escort these other nice people instead."

Does anyone else remember being escorted to your cabin even if you were not in a suite?

We r in a CS for the first time in a few months, we r traveling with friends who are in an SS, it is 5heir first time on Celeb in many years. I’m hoping if we get an escort they will take all of 4 of us? Leaving from FLL

Yes, just let the escort know that you are traveling together.  On our last sailing we were in a RS and our friends in a Sky.  Being escorted together was not an issue at all.  Have a wonderful cruise!

Thanks Zigster, they’re from up your way too, in Atlanta.

We don’t particularly care about the escort one way or the other, just didn’t want awkwardness.
