laslomas Posted January 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2019 A couple of quick questions for recent cruisers: In the Junior Suite I know there is a shower in the bathtub. Does it have a non-slip surface? Also what toiletries are provided, and are they replenished through the cruise? Travelling on Independence in May. Thanks
Clarea Posted January 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2019 Toiletries: small containers of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash and bars of soap. They are replenished during the cruise.
Rare kernow Posted January 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2019 I always put a hand towel down in the bath to stand on, works like a bathmat. The bath is not too slippy but if the ship is moving I feel safer. Julie
Snit13 Posted January 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2019 I find the bathtubs way to slippery for my comfort and safety. Have done the hand towel trick too.
cruisegirl1 Posted January 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2019 Seem to be a higher than normal tub ledge so be careful and hold on getting in and out. M
Grandma Dazzles Posted January 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2019 It’s not a separate shower so you have to step into the combination bathtub/shower. I agree about putting a towel down.
laslomas Posted January 29, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted January 29, 2019 Thanks for the responses. Good to know I can save a bit of weight regarding toiletries, I think I will have to do the towel trick too if there is not a non-slip surface. Just thinking that a non slip mat could be provided. I would think the last thing RCI would want is the medical centre full of bathtub injuries 🤕
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 29, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2019 Its a combo shower/tub and the tub is high it could be a problem for some to get in and out. Place a hand towel in the tub. I never found it to be slippery though. You get better toiletries than the other cabins. I personally prefer a separate shower, our last 4 cruses we had the JS but our next one will be a regular balcony so we have the regular shower, we don't need the tub. Allaboutsailingrc Posted January 29, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2019 Has anyone ever asked the stateroom attendant for a non-slip mat? Also, are there grab bars in the tub/shower combo? And is the shower adjustable like the one In the regular shower?

Grab bars vary, but I've always felt like they should have more.

Thanks Bob. The small showers all have grab bars. You would think they would have them in a bathtub. This will be on Grandeur, an older ship. May be a problem if no grab bars. cb at sea Posted January 30, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2019 There is a bar in the tub...and it has a "non-slip" sort of surface....we always got a bathmat for use in the tub....I hate them...hubby always used it. Annoying.
DiamondSuiteCruiser Posted January 30, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2019 This YouTube video shows grab bars in the tub, but no non skid surface. I know the room steward used bring us a rubber mat if we asked, they may have them so just ask.
Coralc Posted January 30, 2019 #14 Share Posted January 30, 2019 What a great tour of a Junior Suite! Very well done.
Rare little britain Posted January 30, 2019 #15 Share Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) I actually think the side of the JS bath is very low, compared to some English baths..... probably only knee height....and I’m 5’4”! The surface of the bath is smooth otherwise it would be uncomfortable when having a bath. There are a selection of shower gels, hair conditioner soap and body lotion which your Cabin steward will keep topped up. If we need anything I usually leave a little note for the cabin Steward if he is not nearby plus a couple of dollars with the note. Allaboutsailingrc Posted January 30, 2019 #17 Share Posted January 30, 2019 Thanks for the great video. Enjoyed the tour. I will ask for a mat to use in the tub. Grab bar looks to be quite low, but at least there is one. You answered a lot of my questions.😊

I like your little tip of leaving a couple of dollars with the note. Bet the cabin attendant appreciates that too.
