I went ahead and snagged a Havana Cabana on a 48 hour hold, I am hoping there will be a few suprises in store for that area. Otherwise it's a little underwhelming compared to the Vista class Havana areas. I agree that the itineraries for the Mardi Gras leave a little to be desired. I was hoping for an Aruba/Curacao/Grand Turk run, but oh well. I like the ports on this run OK, and if Dad goes along (they have a cabin on hold as well) he will love San Juan and the forts I think. See everyone who booked the inaugural PC sailing next year! :) I agree based upon what we can see it is a little under whelming, at that the plans do not do it justice. I did see what they label as "spa" is really a pool, but it looks really small..... We are holding some space (not havana) on the inaugural, and a PC sailing havana....we will see. NightOne Posted January 30, 2019 #78 Share Posted January 30, 2019 1 hour ago, Cousin Eddie said: I believe the poster was referring to a call from their PVP. In this case those working with proactive PVPs were indeed special as they were able to get booked several hours before any emails were sent and before either the website or phone agents could book. I was disappointed by this, but harbor no ill will towards anyone able to take advantage. I too received my email... about twenty minutes after I had booked through the website shortly before midnight. Interestingly the price when I clicked through the link in the email was $20 per person higher than what I had already booked moments earlier. I booked about 3 hours before the e-mail came out. I got a heads up from my PVP in the afternoon and booked it shortly after he could book it. I ended up booking 2 cruises and I could only use my special Mardis Gras VIFP for one of those and I ended up using a casino offer for the other one. Just an FYI about the limit. However, it looks like I can share my offer to two other cabins on the same sailing.
skrufy Posted January 30, 2019 #79 Share Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) Wife received an email from our pvp overnight. She jumped on the phone this morning and booked the September 30th, 15 day eastern Caribbean, NYC to PC. PvP had to dig to find a cabin for us. She said the ship was almost sold out. We got an OV on deck 5. Our first mega ship, can’t wait to ride the coaster. Don’t know how Ill handle the 5,000 plus passengers, but should be an experience. Dylobs Posted January 30, 2019 #80 Share Posted January 30, 2019 Looks like the updated deck plans are showing forward facing lanai’s for the vista suites now, which I like a lot! I also noticed that the cove balcony cabins have some spa accommodations as well! Typically, my partner and I sail in the cove balcony cabins, so this is a nice perk - especially since those cabins are near the relocated spa. It's nice to be able to see the layout of the ship now though. Yeah I just went back in and checked the cabin we put on hold last night and the price is already up $60/pp. Actually all base prices are up anywhere from $60-$100/pp more. Maybe the heads up email did provide better pricing after all? I'm basing this on PG rates only as we never book ES. But guess I shall be happy about that lol. E Heffa Posted January 30, 2019 #83 Share Posted January 30, 2019 Booked the TA! Doing a TA was on my and my friend's bucket list. We decided against the Havana because of the decreased pool size and decided to do a regular balcony and take the savings to purchase the drink package. All those sea days will definitely make the drink package a plus!
Jerseygirl1416 Posted January 30, 2019 #84 Share Posted January 30, 2019 I just put cabin 14476 on hold. It looks to me on the deck plan like the balcony for this cabin may be bigger than the other cabins in this category. What do you guys think? The 800 # rep says she shows the same size in the description.
ugagal07 Posted January 30, 2019 #85 Share Posted January 30, 2019 Anyone booked been able to book a Family Harbor Deluxe Oceanview, FJ category? It shows on the deck plans, but neither my TA, nor Carnival can find them on the ship... It appears they are on deck 4 and include 4330, 4332, 4368, 4374, 4384, 4390

The published category info and therefore what the rep can see will just be generic for all 8E staterooms. It looks to me like it's the first balcony before the deck "juts out" again, making the balcony similar to those of suites 14277 and 14280, maybe. You can zoom in to that column of staterooms in this rendering to get a better idea. https://carnival-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/bluarch_Carnival-XL_Mardi-Gras_02_120618.jpg

bogeydi Posted January 31, 2019 #92 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Just booked an 8C balcony for January 2021 (W. Caribbean). Snagged one of the last larger balconies in that category (11477). Totally agree with the same ol' same ol' ports - but I love scuba diving the W. Caribbean - so it's all good. Can't wait to learn more about the ship in the days ahead! fsuchick97 Posted January 31, 2019 #93 Share Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) Just booked the 1st 7day trip out of PC. This will be our first 7 day. We've taken several 4 day trips in the past and aren't interested in Cozumel or Nassau, so this trips itinerary is perfect for us! Anyone else sailing on 10/24? CruzCrazy Posted January 31, 2019 #98 Share Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) I've always been intrigued with forward-facing cabins. We've been in a 6K before on the Glory (suite suite with floor-to-ceiling windows at an oceanview price) and loved the forward-facing view. We've also been in 4J's on Breeze and Horizon, and, although I love the close-by forward observation deck, when the ship is underway it's very windy out there. I have a spa forward-facing extended-balcony on hold on Mardi Gras. I'm starting to second-guess myself about it because I'm afraid it will be too windy to enjoy the balcony while the ship is sailing. The website description says there are patio chairs and table on the balcony, but I remember seeing chairs tied down in stacks on the other ships in that location (albeit more open and not partitioned off like these will be on Mardi Gras). I realize they were just "extras" being stowed there, but now that I think about it, those light-weight loungers would blow all over the place if they weren't tied down. Here is the deck plan for the area I'm talking about. I guess I know it will be windy, but do you think it will be a situation where you can't sit out there and enjoy while the ship is sailing? I know it will be fantastic when entering and leaving port. Congrats to the OP for grabbing a hump! 🌞 Edited January 31, 2019 by CruzCrazy

It must have bene significant because they glassed it in in future CS modifies. If you do it, please let us know how it was.
