Just off the Symphony. Bar service and hours were unacceptable

There's nothing like a good old fashioned 'Never Again' thread to light up the boards. Congratulations to the OP.

Absolutely the Key thread has run its course and the drink package treads are like I Love Lucy reruns.

Why?  I thought all Canadians loved Bud Light? :classic_mellow:

they have way better  beer  available to them.  Bud Lite is  like Fosters: the crap you export to clueless others who think they are getting some magic special  drink just cuz it was imported.

Funny, when we were on the Carnival Dream, the only bar I recall being open late was the lobby bar.  Because it was the only thing open late it would get so crowded that it was very difficult to get a drink  there also.  the Red frog bar would close around 5ish as I recall and the Blue Iguana shortly after.  The sunset bar would stay open a little later but definitely not into the night and there was no alcohol service at the pizzeria.  We never went into the Casino so I couldn't speak to the hours there.  I don't recall any of them being open real early, but I would say the pool bars typically opened by around 10:00.  Doesn't seem that different than what RCI does.

If you keep posting the realities of Carnival the OP might decide to stick with RCI.😮

By your definition, you lied in your original post when you stated that bars were only open for 9 to 12 hours each day.

It has been pointed out to you that there is at least one bar that is open at 9am each day.  So bars are open for at least 15 hours each day.

You convientently ignore these facts.

Lifted from the Cruise Compass of SOF.

"For and early drink Cafe Promenade is open at 7 am"

Also, Sorento's, which also serves alcohol, is open until 3 am.

There are four hours in the day when you may be unable to get a drink.  If that is to much I would suggest a 12 step program.

Seriously, I thought you could drink 24 hours a day as a bar is always open. Granted we extremely rarely see the midnight hour but have never, and I mean never, had a problem finding a place to get a drink on a ship. Well there was that one time when we went on Enchantment the first time and could not find coffee in the early hours and guest services was absolutely useless. The cleaning crew did point me to the coffee machines though.

Good luck with suing RCCL. Hope you have some big time attorneys in your family/friends.

Most of them lied about what the bar hours or are making suggestions like stockpiling drinks in my room, or going to the casino bar that still closes at 3am or earlier and is full of smoke. Do you consider those to be valid suggestions?

Currently I am on Symphony, and today in the planner, I can see pool bar opens at 9am, and vintages is open until 1am...  Today, the planner still says “the casino bar, boleros, the attic, pub and schooner will remain open later than other bars”, but no time is listed.

oh, and there is a Bloody Mary special listed that starts at 7am.

and, the specialty coffee place has booze, and they start serving at 6am.

OP doesn't drink before 4pm.  He only drinks between 4pm to 3am :classic_blink:

One has got to be a little more committed to drinking than that to have a valid complaint. Cannot take a drinking complaint seriously unless a solid day drinking habit is developed and documented. LOL! :classic_tongue:

How can you go drinking all day if you don't start first thing in the morning?  When you get that last drink at 3-4 am you need to get some beers for the state room fridge such that when you wake up at 7 am you can have 2-3 beers right off the bat before you get to the windjammer for the double bloody mary.

Anything else is just poor planning! :classic_biggrin:

The Trellis and Schooner bars closed at midnight the night before every port day. The pool bars closed incredibly early. Usually they were close by after dinner. The English pub was never open much later than 1am. Boleros was open past 1am once. Casino bar was open until 2am but I don't like hanging out in a smoke filled room.

I guess this ship is more geared towards old people that don't like to stay up and enjoy life.

What do you mean by old. I am 55 and like to stay up late, but if you  need to start drinking early and still need drinks later than 1 a.m. maybe you have a problem. I consume maybe 5 at most after 2 p.m. I really would like to remember my cruise after I spent lots of money on it and don't fancy making a fool of myself. Just something to think about.

When I'm on vacation I like to go to bed at 3-4am. I prefer to save going to bed at 1am for when I'm back at home and have to work the next day.

I didn't once mention getting drunk or drinking early in the day.  I just prefer to wait until evening to drink and not start at 1-2pm like half the ship does.

Even a cheap beer like Bud light is $7.99 on the ship. You can get them for $3 at any bar in the US, or $2 if there's a special.

The issue here is that they're intentionally shortening the hours to be unreasonably short. There should be more than the casino (cancer) bar open until 3am. Not one bar is open 17 hours. Most bars open at either 11am or 3pm. Boleros is often 3pm-1am.

You should like you work for Royal if you're making up all these facts.

All hours are set...but also listed in the planner in your room or at Guest Svcs everyday. I always carry those with me so I can see what's happening where at any given time. Many times those bartenders work multiple bars so when they close one they move to another...not like they are just headed to the crew bar! I am not sure I'd pay $70 a day...I am very happy with my upcoming $47 a day for Deluxe Pkg.

Think like a business owner.

You have one or perhaps two customers at your bar 1 am in the morning and you are paying the bartender and perhaps one other person.  Said customers are only ordering a drink every 30 minutes.  Do the math, is it cost effective to keep the bar open?

Do you vacation in Florida?  Bars stop serving drinks at 2am.  If you vacation in Florida what do you do in regards to drinks between 2 and 4am?

On Carnival there's always a dozen people at least hanging around the pool aft deck bar at 3am.

Yes in Florida everyone orders a couple of drinks right before 2 to take them to 2:30 at least.
