TrpngBilly Posted February 4, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2019 Where does one "present their key card" to obtain the benefit of utilizing concierge assistance to assist with booking specialty restaurant reservations? I've always made these reservations on my own but if the platinum perk makes it easier, I'm all for that.

roger001 Posted February 4, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2019 Even when staying in a suite, I just continue making the reservations myself. The only time I have used the concierge service is twice when prebooking and NCL's specialty restaurant reservation system was its usually screwed up self. It frequently shows many times and even days not available. I have then emailed the concierge desk and they have made reservations for me... TrumpyNor Posted February 4, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) I have actually (with satisfaction) used the Platinum concierge service a couple of times in the past when trying to get a table at a specialty restaurant when the regular restaurant reservation desk told me the restaurant was full and the concierge managed to "fix it"... And also regarding getting "priority seating" in the theater... But of course - if I use his/her service, I also tip at the end of the cruise. My last cruise with my DD I never bothered the concierge nor needed assistance. My DH and I have been sailing in Suite/Haven and of course, there was no need to look for help. In November my DD and I will be sailing on NCL and I will keep it in mind should something arise that I may need additional assistance.
newmexicoNita Posted February 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 4, 2019 years ago when there were not so many latitude members it came in pretty handy, but now,Like some have said, I don't bother.I just book as soon as we get on the ship and grab a bite to eat and a drink. Rare BirdTravels Posted February 5, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2019 Take it from a Platinum Plus member, it is fake news. The concierge are so busy with "real" suite guests that they don't bother with the platinum members. 1
don't-use-real-name Posted February 5, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 5, 2019 NCL needs to come up with a better plan - every day every cruise more and more guests are achieving that Platinum status and even Platinum + good for a free laundry bag and bottle or two of bubbly sparkly stuff. The services of the Concierge are exaggerated - more attention is spent on the suite haven guests than those who are frequent cruisers. Perhaps NCL should consider a two step concierge level - one for the Platinum and one for the upper end cabins suites havens gardens etc. But as noted by the previous posters it is a great deal better to JUST DO IT YOURSELF - the concierge card is almost worthless - where do you effectively draw the line with frequent cruise guests and cabin status ? There is very big W-I-D-E G-A-P between Platinum + and Ambassador 500 plus points and Chocolate covered Strawberries is not cutting it ! Personal escorts and head of the line status is at this time for the most part provided to suite guests. The system needs to have a complete overall review from the Main Mast to the Bilge Deck. There was a thread here about color of key cards - maybe time to really distinguish what level one has and the cabin classes - so maybe having Concierge assistance would not be needed - flashing a Platinum card entitles you to this much attention - Platinum + more - Ambassador even a great deal more - in a Suite - OS - DOS - Haven - Garden Villa automatic acknowledgment no Concierge assistance required and automatically applied. Rare graphicguy Posted February 5, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 5, 2019 Hmmmm....I would think administration of more tiers of frequent NCL cruisers might be a step backwards. Ambassadors get a FREE cruise as a benefit, in addition to the chocolates, etc.. So, that’s a pretty big “perk” that you may not have known about. I saw RCCL “redistribute” it’s tiers of frequent cruisers. It has not gone well. I’m Platinum. I don’t see much in the way of additional “perks” that mean all that much to me at the Platinum Plus level. I do like the two Specialty Dinners that Platinum Status gets you. I also like the no charge laundry benefit. I guess the priority embarkation/debarkation is good. But, I’ve never waited that long to do either. I’ve sailed in the Haven, which means a concierge is offered to me. It is a GREAT benefit. I’ve also heard it’s difficult to get “concierge” service as a Platinum Cruiser. I’m getting ready to test that here shortly as I’m sailing a Balcony Cabin on the Escape in a few weeks.

Platinum status for both of us, 2 laundry bags, 2 specialty dinners, pretty good vs other cruiselines (holland gives us jack after 156 days of cruising), priority embarkation? some ports have it some dont, priority tender is nice as well.
Rare mizLORInj Posted February 5, 2019 #12 Share Posted February 5, 2019 When we were on Escape in November we made one or two reservations online ahead of time as part of the dinner package. Then, for our platinum dinners (2) and the remaining 1 or 2 dinner pkg perk, as soon as we stepped foot onto the ship, we went right to where LeBistro is and made all the other restaurant reservations for the rest of the cruise. Got all the dates/times we wanted, or at least close to. We didn't need to use the Concierge at all.
Sand and Seas Posted February 5, 2019 #13 Share Posted February 5, 2019 We always pre-book our reservations online and generally no problem. Most cruises I wouldn't even think of the need for concierge help. However, if something comes up to change our plans while onboard it would be nice (as Platinum Plus) to have a little help changing a reservation to another night or a time that works better. Many years ago we were given a notice in our room with the number to the concierge but haven't seen that since long before they changed the system and broke it down to Platinum Plus and Ambassador.
