Just got an offer from Celebrity for 15 bonus points on select TA and TP cruises in 2019.

I know Royal gave an extra pt for Diamonds in December,  3 pts for onboard spending on Freedom, and an extra point  per day for suites over summer..

They still do Diamonds in December?  I haven't heard that in forever.  What was the promo?  1 point total?

Haven't done it in 5 - 6 years. It was basically one extra pt per night.

I would be surprised if Royal started a similar program.

As often as I read that there are too many d, D+ and Ps it does not seem like something they need to do.

But that is because they give out status like candy - you can give your status to all your significant friends and they can pass it on to their significant friends afterwards!

Or drop a tier if no cruises taken within a given time as per airlines FFP

I would think it would need to be several years if they do that.  For example, our cruises in 2017 were on Celebrity.  I would hate to lose D+ because we sailed another RCL cruise line.

The summer promo I remember was double points for suites.  We received a total of 28pts(instead of 14pts) for each 7 night sailing on Freedom.  This promo happened during December of 2015 I believe.

MSC does this, you have to cruise at least once every 3 years to retain your status.  Although their loyalty program is no where near as generous as Royal.

The extra points would be great for those on the borderline to the next tier. I sail multiple lines and I'm not close to the next level on any of them. I received the same email and would not be compelled to book a cruise with this promotion. As a matter of fact I read the highlight and deleted it immediately without reading it completely.  I only read promotions that offer 2 perks or OBC
