Best hotel with shuttle to port Everglades?

Looking for a Nice(not expensive)hotel by port Everglades with a shuttle? Any recommendations..?

What is your upper price range before it becomes ‘expensive’?  Hotels near the port are considerably pricier than those somewhat further away (typically, shuttles are available for pretty much all of the mainline hotels).

Lots of information on the Florida Departures board, under North American Homeports.  Most hotels will have a shuttle to the port, for around $15pp.  Likely a taxi or Uber/Lyfft is cheaper.  EM

Huh!  Not gonna happen....

 

Try the Sleep Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport.  We’ve stayed at hotels in the area and it’s convenient enough for getting to the port in the morning.

Free hotel shuttles are often not all they are cracked up to be :(.  We have been at some hotels where you sign up for a specific time and will find yourself waiting around the lobby for an hour (or longer) and finally being crammed into a very crowded van.  That van then might make 3 or 4 stops (to drop off others at different ships) before you even get to your vessel.  Personally, we have found it is just not worth the hassle and usually call Uber (which is generally less than $10) to get a nice private drive from our hotel to the ship.  It is interesting that one of the most popular pre cruise hotels, the Embassy Suites on 17th St, does not offer any free shuttles (they have paid shuttles which cost more then Uber/Lyft for a couple).

Hank is correct especially in Fort Lauderdale where you could almost walk to the pier if it weren't for the luggage and the road system.  Take a taxi, go when you want and after a tip will probably be about the same price.  Uber is another good choice.    I wouldn't say the same thing in other cities but in FLL, taxi or uber are the best way to go.

With vacations, too many fall into the trap of looking for what is "free" and "included". A $250 hotel with a free shuttle is not a better deal than a similar hotel for $180 with a $10 Uber ride. Find a hotel that suits your needs (location, amenities, price, etc). Compare your total price of everything.

Hotel prices vary a lot depending on time of year, especially if there is an event in the area that draws crowds.

We always stay on 17th Street:  Extended Stay America, Holiday Inn, and Hyatt.  Hyatt can be booked at a discount through Valuetrips.com.  We've never paid over $180.

We do use the hotel shuttles from the airport ($2 per family) and to the port (around $6-8 per person); we've never had a problem with waiting around, crowded vans, etc.

For what you save with a "free" hotel shuttle (and many of the hotels charge for the shuttle service), you're better off just staying at an affordable hotel and getting an Uber or Lyft.  

I have definitely experienced the wait for a hotel shuttle and the crowded van.  I'd much rather just get an Uber.

I love Oasis and plenty of Uber or cabs to zip you over to cruise terminal.

You aren't going to find anything near the port in that price range. Stay further out and Uber to the ship.

The FLL hotels have gotten very good at setting the rates for each day based on expected volume. They know which ships are calling each day and how many customers they will generate. 

 

For instance, a Carnival ship doing a 4 night cruise will bring few or no hotel guests. While a 49 day Princess cruise around South America will bring many.

We have found hotels around port area in Fort Lauderdale more expensive than $100...unfortunately.

 

Have used taxis from airport and to port on embarkation day and found them cheaper, for two people, than paying $10 each or so to use hotel shuttle. Plenty available, short wait, direct, leave whenever you want to leave. 

 

Not tech savvy enough to use Uber or Lyft. 

To stay within your margins, agree with zqvol if you are.

Google "Hotels in FLL on 17th Street" and you'll see what's handy to the port. If you stay in that area there are restaurants, a Publix grocery store, a wine store, as well as other shops within easy walking distance. A taxi from that area to the pier would be a fairly short ride without a big tab to pay.

We stayed in that area and found it worked out very well.

I have a room booked at Hampton Inn Airport North Cruise Port. Cost me 188 CAD for a night before the cruise. You get good breakfast (based on TripAdvisor) and hotel also has a free shuttle to and from FLL airport. It costs under $10 US for Uber from the hotel to the Cruise terminal. They also offer paid parking during cruise days, if you are driving down.

Or maybe you will.  Keep searching.  One of our favored 17th St. chain hotels is $99 on one date and $399 another.  It really depends.  And another budget factor to consider, besides transportation, is meals.  17th Street has lots of options, from McDonalds and up, whereas a more distant hotel might only have its own overpriced bar/restaurant.

Sometimes when I do a search I rank by price for the date I want; that gives me a starting point.

We stay at the Embassy Suites on 17th... because we like the location, near shopping, near liquor store, large rooms, free breakfast... they have a free shuttle which we skip, rather take a private taxi less hassel.

I made an Excel spreadsheet for exactly this reason and I've written formulas to calculate total cost, then convert it all to Canadian so we can see what our final costs will be. It works great!

I like the Quality Inn on Stirling.  There is a huge entertainment/restaurant complex nearing completion. Most of those hotels offer free airport and port shuttles.

Unfortunately they don't let you book 531 days in advance, but who's counting.
