mom2miracles Posted April 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2019 I am looking to book a cruise and have it narrowed down to two room choices. The one we want has no connecting door but across the hall there are no rooms. I know in some hallways when there are no rooms they tend to be closets/stairwells for staff working. I don't want to be across from that, but, my TA can't confirm if that is what is on the blank wall or its nothing. The other room is identical, except its a connecting room, and across the hall is other rooms - which is not an issue. I guess my question is, is there any way of finding out what is across the hall from the room we do want - closet, or just a wall? TIA!

bostonfred Posted April 9, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2019 We never book empty space across from cabin. May be door for cabin stewards to come in an out or a storage area for supplies. Can cause a lot of noise at times.
Snit13 Posted April 9, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2019 I like empty space across from my cabin door. Does not mean the crew door will be in that area of empty space. Would not book the connecting cabin as have read some major issues on these boards. Only book connecting when traveling with friends nest door. mom2miracles Posted April 9, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) I've done three cruises with connecting doors, and never had a noise issue - not saying there can't be though. Not sure why I am more concerned about it this time. lol. We're booking Adventure of the Seas, One bedroom Grande Suite. cb at sea Posted April 9, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2019 Sometimes, there is NO closet...just a wall, because there is some sort of space on the other side....like a library, or computer room....We have never been bothered by a storage closet when we've been near or across from one. I'd rather have that than a connecting cabin. I'm assuming something on deck 10.....Yes...those are closets. I wouldn't be afraid of them. You are likely to hear more from above than across! chengkp75 Posted April 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2019 There is never "just a wall", as there is always something on the other side of the "wall". Tell us what cabin and ship, and I can make some observations.

Rare crewsweeper Posted April 9, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 9, 2019 If you are on the Adventure of the Seas in a Grand Suite one bedroom on deck 10, there is a you tube video linked on cruisedeckplans that show cabin 1564 and briefly the passageway outside. Looks like a cabin steward's supply closet and then several doors.

My guess, just from the orientation of the spaces, and the deck, would be that while there will be a cabin steward linen locker and a service pantry somewhere along that run of cabins between the midships and forward elevators, most of this space will be either guest entertainer cabins or senior officer cabins. Depending on what cabin you are looking at, that dead area is the Solarium pool and access to pumps etc and a crew stairwell.
Ashland Posted April 10, 2019 #15 Share Posted April 10, 2019 We've always had good luck with booking our JS's across from a blank wall...what may or may not have been on the other side of that wall didn't concern us at all. Very nice when you have nothing across from you and I also would never book a connecting cabin unless it was going to be occupied by my family member. cruisecraze96 Posted April 10, 2019 #18 Share Posted April 10, 2019 We booked a balcony last minute across from a blank wall, sadly it was the storage area for our room steward and oh the noise. I felt really bad for my BIL who booked in the room right next to it to be close to us. Lots of banging of glasses, carts, etc. They were super nice but I will never make that mistake again...unless I really want to go last minute and that is what is left 🙂
