DrivesLikeMario Posted May 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2019 Yes, of course. You should have no problem. If you have a TA, have them make the change.

If the promotion has changed from when you booked you will lose your previous perks and get whatever perks are currently offered.

MixerDave Posted May 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2019 I booked a 15 day Hawaii for December. We booked in august 2018. As of today, the price has dropped $1260.00. The catch is, I will loose the premier beverage package. I will have to look closely and make a decision.

If that price drop is $1260 pp. The package costs $1061.85 pp for 15 days. That would be a no brainer for me. Just go by the drink (if you don't drink a lot) or buy the package. You may be able to get OCB etc, with a current promo

Buying the package doubles if I include my wife, and I don't want to be one of those people who buy one package. That really is a large drop I have a Hawaii cruise in October and most prices there have actually gone up. I moved from the sip and sail to 3 for free to get my casino rate, free grats and OCB and just are paying for the drink packages. Many people purchase only one package because their spouse or partner doesn’t drink enough to make it worthwhile. We enjoy the Sip ‘n Sail promotion and have booked our next two cruises with it. If it’s not being offered my partner will buy the package and I will pay for my drinks separately. We would never try to cheat the system. Is there some other interpretation of buying only one package that I’ve missed?

There are some people on CC that say that the 15 drink limit was put in place because some people game the system by only buying one package and getting drinks for their partner. I believe what we will do is buy one package and pay for my wife's drinks with the additional OBC as well as the money we save with the prepaid gratuities. FiggyWig Posted May 2, 2019 #15 Share Posted May 2, 2019 I'm guessing all you guys are in the U.S. to which I say .."Price Drops ??..Promotions??...Lucky You"....no such luck for us the other side of the Pond !😡 1
MixerDave Posted May 2, 2019 #16 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Just to clarify - the price drop was $620 PP. They will throw in an additional $250 OBC, and prepaid gratuities. I would lose the beverage package, but with the military veteran's $250 OBC, I would have $500 to buy drinks for my wife, and I will buy the package. The prepaid gratuities are $465 for a 15 day in a mini-suite.
ALWAYS CRUZIN Posted May 6, 2019 #17 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Listen to everyone. They are all giving great advise. You must weigh everything. My last price drop of $600 and I no longer had the beverage package. However, I did get the soda package and the coffee and prepaid gratuities. I am not a big drinker at all. So it was a far better deal. OBC even went up $150.00 to $535.00 and the 2 coupon books.
cruisinggran Posted May 6, 2019 #18 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Our cruise on the Sky Princess is on sale with $500.00 OBC and free gratuities. I called my TA. Her response was it is for new bookings and it can be done but Princess would not guarantee we would get the same cabin. I don't want to loose my cabin has anyone had this happen? Unlikely to lose a cabin if your TA coordinates correctly when she calls Princess. Perhaps your TA doesn't want to do the work very badly? I have done this more than once and on our upcoming cruise, I went through a record four changes. (At the end of it, I ended up sending my TA an Amazon gift card since she had done extra work that benefited us greatly and reduced her commission). cruisinggran Posted May 6, 2019 #21 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Thank you for you answer. My T/A reply was she was just off the phone with Princess and it can be done but Princess told her they can not guarantee I would be able to get the same cabin because it would have to be cancelled and rebooked. i get nowhere with Princess. I have to go through the t/a
crystalspin Posted May 15, 2019 #22 Share Posted May 15, 2019 I just re-fared two mini-suites (five people) to take advantage of the May sale (grats and OBC, where we had no perks before). Yes, the fares had increased $130 each for the primary passengers, but that $520 is covered by the OBC almost twice over, so the grats are entirely a future saving! I deal with a Princess CVP, and there was definitely no mention of losing our cabins. They are cancelled and re-booked instantaneously. Something is fishy in what you were told... Is it because the category is now 'guarantee'? (Whereas my category and area of ship are still wide open)
