OVATION May 13-24 *LIVE* in ALASKA w/lots of photos

Recommended Posts

Please don't take this post as a shameless plug.... I've tried forever to figure out how to post links to my past reviews in my signature since the CC upgrade. Almost everyone's reviews are lost. However, I finally figured how to find all of mine while logged in... however no one else can though.

Best option I learned while searching the Assistance/Help forum is something another CC'er has done.... create a post at the end of latest review with all links to all reviews, then add one link to this specific post from your signature that everyone can follow to if they want. Well, this is that post!

Hope this works.

Great pics!  Do you recall if the Piano players was named Paul and was he from Australia?  I think I had him on Indy back in 2015.  He was great

Never mind I went back and found the compass that was posted. It is him.  I hope he is still there on July 5

Although this isn't a solution that SPECIFICALLY answers the "how to find Hoopster's [or anyone's] reviews", it does answer "how to find any thread STARTED by Hoopster" - which allows someone to scan for thread titles that look interesting.  Note that this allows ANY user to dig up content of any OTHER user, not just yourself.

This might not be what you were actually trying to accomplish.   If I misunderstood your intention and am telling you something you already knew my apologies.

1. Find any post written by <target user>.  Let's assume it is Hoopster.

2. Click on the user's name (i.e. the link just above the user's profile photo, just to the left of the body of text).  The user's profile will open.

3.  Click the "See their activity" button in the upper right of the profile.  At this point, you can see pages linking to EVERY post of Hoopster, both original threads as well as replies to other threads.  For Hoopster, that's 40 pages of links

4.  To see only threads STARTED by Hoopster (rather than everything he replied to) click on "Topics" in the left-hand menu bar.  For Hoopster, this narrows things down to 3 pages of links.

To get there from anyone's post, click on their name, as shown here:

EDIT:  D'OH!  Just realized that you didn't need the additional illustration - you obviously understood what I was saying!  I'll leave this in case my text instructions a couple of posts above weren't clear to others!

Eagerly anticipating this review, we board Ovation on May 24th in Seattle!

How was the sailing on the 24th? What were the menus like? Did you have fun?

Thank you for your wonderful review. TG I read it. We are going on the Ovation in 2021 and I was very fortunate to steal err snag your cabin 7606. We will be visiting some of the same places you did. I made a lot of notes.

Again Thanks

We had a great time.  It was our kids first cruise and they are addicted for life!

The first day was disappointing with MTD not having our reservations we made online and taking almost an hour to get our food.  We switched to traditional dining for the 2nd night and had an amazing waitstaff with Ronald and Gerwina in Chic.  The food quality was on par with previous cruises.  The horseradish salmon was a nice alternative daily when the rotating items were not ideal.  They ran out of salmon by day 7 however.

I just had to add Alaska to by bucket list, I did cruise there once on Princess in 2009.  These pictures make me want to go back.  This Sept I will be on the Vision of the Sea cruising the Mediterranean & Greek Islands.  Since it takes me 5 years to save up for a cruise I have a lot of time to check things out.  Currently possibles are *Baltic Sea, *Holy Lands, *New England/Canada, *Transatlantic, and now *Alaska.

I really enjoy all the live reviews, I will be following you

Does anyone know if the concierge is doing escorted walk off for Suites/Pinnacles?

Trying to figure out what time to arrange a car for, I have seen the flyer with all the times but was wondering if anyone had experienced the escorted shortcut and about what time it was ?

We were walked off by the concierge at 7:15.  We were on our shuttle bus and on the road to the airport at 7:30.  I think there were 3 walk off times, sorry don’t remember them now.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to what’s the best time to do the premium North Star during the glacier on the Endicott day? I was taking 9:40 but now am having doubts!! I know it changes so you never know, but any suggestions?

I saw a video from the Captain's Corner Q&A session last week and he was describing the glacier run.  Other guests commented that the entry into the glacier passageway is around 7:00 am and by 11:30 am guests were able to ride free.  I'd say 9:30-10:00 ish would be prime time if you're paying for it.

I was on the 10am and on that day the ship was turning and beginning to depart as we boarded.  The 9:40am would have been a great time on our visit, but keep in mind each visit will vary slightly based on weather and ice conditions.

On the 6/7 sailing, we were the closest they had ever gotten to the Glacier.  At 10 am we were still approaching, and about 10:30ish I would say we started our 360 spin.

  • 2 years later...

@Hoopster95  @twangster

I realize I am posting two years after the fact. I just had to comment and give Hoopster95, Twangster, and all the contributors my thanks and appreciation in case you happen to read my reply. What an awesome review! I took my time reading it and was just smiling the whole time. After my perfectly planned Symphony cruise was canceled in May of 2020, it was too sad to visit CC. However, hoping for happy vacation days ahead.  We booked an Alaskan Ovation cruise for 2021. Thanks again for the amazing information and extraordinary pictures and videos!

Ironically I  am sailing on her again Aug 20.  I was suppose to be sailing on the Odyssey (Indy) next  week but alas it got cancelled so I  booked this one.  Hope this one will be a go

Thanks again for the memories.....
