Ann_on_the_road Posted August 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2019 Would a classic denim jacket (no rips, frays) over a dress be appropriate for the MDR on a Holland America voyage to Alaska? Not for formal night, just a regular evening. I would probably add a vintage rhinestone brooch or two, but it’s still denim.
hrhdhd Posted August 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2019 Yes, and it would be on any HAL cruise.
clo Posted August 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2019 I'm curious why you would want to wear it. Are you thinking you'll be cold?

GrammieK Posted August 15, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2019 I love the way that looks. I also love a white denim jacket over a dress for a change. Go for it!

slidergirl Posted August 15, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2019 Go for it! I have to say, that is what I do. My last "dressy" event (a year ago June), I wore a long navy tank dress ( I still can't believe I paid $200 for something I've still only worn once) and my classic denim jacket from The Gap. I did put a brooch that I friend made for me and I wore the crystal necklace and earrings I bought in Rome. The next day, I wore that jacket with my jeans and a T-shirt. A few years ago, when I did a trip with friends to Cinque Terre, Florence, Barcelona and Paris, that was my only jacket and I wore it everywhere - Jeans, T-shirt and a classy scarf around the neck was what I wore and it seemed like so many others out and about were the same. Those jean jackets are the most multifunctional pieces around!
rtdiva Posted August 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2019 I feel the same way about my white linen jacket. Perfect for summer, when denim is to hot. Ann

Denim is pretty widely accepted on most cruises these days, be it jeans or whatever.
Kate P.C Posted August 24, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2019 Yeap, why not. A little black casual dress and a tight short denim jacket would look cool too!
