bigeagle12 Posted September 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Will be doing our first back to back cruise on Royal. How do they handle? Does everyone gather and go off and back on the ship at once? Is there a reception for those doing back to back?
Clarea Posted September 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Depends on the port. In Europe you can stay on the ship. In the US, you typically have to get off for a brief time, show your passport, and get back on. On some ships, if there are enough B2B guests, they may have lunch in the MDR on turnaround day. Thanks Bob .. was wondering as on another cruise line in Port Canaveral we all gathered (72 of us) .. went on and off together in less than 5 minutes .. had a little reception with food and mimosa's .. and had a group picture taken. More concerned about getting off and back on quickly .. don't really care about the rest.

A letter will be delivered to your stateroom before the end of your first cruise, giving you details.
Rare twangster Posted September 16, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Empress provided Mimosa's for B2B last month after reboarding, plus an MDR lunch. This varies by ship and B2B volume. Once on another line I was the only B2B guest. When I went to the designated meet point to be escorted to see CBP they told me US customs had already cleared me based on my passport number and I was free to do whatever I wanted to without ever leaving the ship. I wouldn't count on that though.

Yes, even if you are on 5 consecutive cruises, you have to do all muster drills.
cruising twosome Posted September 16, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2019 We did a B2B on Rhapsody in February, there was only 17 of us. We gathered together at a certain time and walked off as a group and back on. No special lunch.

ValerieJo Posted September 16, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 16, 2019 A couple of years ago we did a B2B on Jewel. They lead all of us off the ship and then we were lead right back on with our new cards. We were then invited to the MDR for a nice luncheon with a special menu. We are also doing Back2Back on Rhapsody in December. I thought all of the ships did the same thing. I guess we'll find out in December 🙂

I would have had a better chance if I booked both legs at once...snooze I lose. Happy to get favorite corner aft JS for first leg anyway. 😉
