Cara and Mark Posted October 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2019 We will be on a cruise through 11/3 yet my husband MUST (😳) watch the Georgia/Florida game on Saturday 11/2. We cruise a lot but have never cared much about anything on tv while on a ship. We did try to catch a GA game in the sports bar last year on one of the ships but they said Carnival doesn’t get CBS. Any suggestions on how to stream the game, preferably to watch, but at least to listen? Will Carnival premium internet support video or audio streaming? (We know they say no but...) Thanks!! 1025cruise Posted October 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2019 The best option would be to DVR and watch when you get home.

Rare Essiesmom Posted October 11, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2019 American college football. Big rivalry. EM
DarrenM Posted October 11, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2019 (edited) Oh right. Is college sport big in the states? I cant imagine college sport ever being popular in the uk. I mean we have to suffer the Oxford/cambridge boat race, but I dont actually think anyone cares about it. Other than hoping they sink. Sport in the US is so different. Darren - you need to spend more time in the States. We spend a lot of time in the US, and the sporting scene there is totally different to the UK, or indeed Europe. DarrenM Posted October 11, 2019 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Would love to have the time to do just that. As a long time football supporter, and seen the violence associated with it, close up, I would to see how sports are watched elsewhere. I no longer watch football live but adore cricket live, especially sat with the barmy army. US sports fans, looking from afar, always seem so much friendlier. A generalisation I know. You need to watch in person a US NFL professional football game between two rivals such as Philadelphia and Dallas when played in Philadelphia, then tell me what you think...... And just to clarify in case you are not aware, my CC avatar is the logo for the Philadelphia Eagles, of which I am a season ticket holder who has experienced many such games as indicated. DarrenM Posted October 11, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Would love to watch a game like that. I am pretty sure I would love it. Forgive my ignorance but was it your club that Randolph Cunningham played for? This was during my introduction to the sport in the UK.
DarrenM Posted October 11, 2019 #11 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Why is there a rivalry between your team and Dallas? Its not like you are local rivals.
DarrenM Posted October 11, 2019 #12 Share Posted October 11, 2019 or was it Randall?

EM I should say "big rivalry." @DarrenM, those teams are in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) which is a big deal when you live in the South and that game is a HUGE game. Rare Essiesmom Posted October 11, 2019 #14 Share Posted October 11, 2019 It's such a large rivalry and HUGE game that it is not played on the home turf of either team. EM

American Football's league (NFL) is broken down in to divisions of four teams each. Each team in a division plays each other twice a year, and those games are usually considered some kind of "rivalry" as they're all fighting for the one automatic bid to the playoffs that each division winner gets. Dallas and Philadelphia are in the same division (NFC East), and have resulted in a lot of really good games over the last several decades. wheezedr Posted October 12, 2019 #20 Share Posted October 12, 2019 Actually the Fla-Ga game is generally known as the Worlds Biggest Cocktail Party. Always a good excuse for fans of both teams to travel 1
cb at sea Posted October 12, 2019 #21 Share Posted October 12, 2019 The odds of having a college game shown on the ship are slim. Certainly, record it at home, so you can watch it at some point.

A Celtic v rangers match in scotland is one such event. Newcastle v sunderland were I live is borderline violent. And there are others. I'd you are ever in the uk I recommend attending one of the local rival games. It's an experience

Seems like we are the only Brits here, and, unfortunately we have slightly different views on some things. If it helps, I went on protest marches in the 70s when Thatcher removed free milk from schools, and in later years turned all our lights on to support King Arthur ( although, to be fair, he was out if his depth). Did you ever drive down the A1 when all the Black Marias were parked up at every exit? It was a surreal experience. I lived in Stockton for a while, so fully understand the issues of the area. Living through the 70s and early 80s gives you a different view of life. Edited October 12, 2019 by wowzz
DarrenM Posted October 12, 2019 #24 Share Posted October 12, 2019 I didnt think you were picking on me. So no apology required. Our views are probably closer than you think. I am just a bit contrary sometimes. I am not a rabid socialist but I am not a Tory either. I just like to think we could have a fairer society. Colchester Ipswich sounds fun.
