If you get prescribed a slow release med patch you don’t have to prove it’s a 30 day or a 90 day or a 2 day supply.   You just have to produce a prescription for it, and adhere to the instructions on it.

Has anyone taken CBD oil tincture on a New England/Canadian cruise? With THC under the federal legal limit. I read it’s ok to fly with it

Yes, it's banned in the US for medical use as the federal government still classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, the same classification used for heroin and LSD, among other substances. Schedule I drugs are defined as having no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.

CBD products are prohibited by NCL and every other cruise line I'm familiar with. There's no legally accepted "guarantee" that your product is under the federal THC limit.

i have no (dead) horse in this race, i'm just here to report what i saw and smelled.

 

on both the gem and the breakaway, in the past year, i saw someone smoking pot on the pool deck. i could also smell it. i was surprised that nobody on the crew seemed very concerned or did anything about it. apart from it being marijuana, they were in an area where smoking and vaping were not allowed at all.

 

i don't know if they were "caught" later in the week, or what may or may not have happened to them.. all i know is that they smoked pot on board for a half hour or so... and nobody said a word, not passengers, not crew.

 

i'm not advising anybody to bring pot onboard (for all the reasons delineated in this thread), and i'd personally prefer that they didn't (the smell is really unpleasant); i'm just reporting that it has indeed been done.

 

YMMV and, frankly, anybody who does this tempts fate if they bring it on board; it will most likely end badly for them, even if it didn't for these folks.

My point is that regardless of the rules of the cruise line and/or maritime/state/country laws, enforcement is probably lax, sporadic, or non-existent.  If it's low key, not discussed, for private use, and doesn't bother anyone else (which is true of edibles but NOT smoking) then the likelihood of being "busted" is low.  But like alcohol, if it's abused you can get in trouble for your behavior.

 

Neither the cruise line nor the ports has time to analyze everything in your luggage, they're just looking for obvious red flags like weapons and booze and hair dryers (which takes up a lot more space).  If they really stepped up enforcement, most cruises would leave 5+ hours late.

 

Maybe the situation is different in ports beyond the west coast.  I know there have been drug busts on gay charter cruises, but those targeted dealers not users.

I will gladly report anyone I see and smell using it. Cant stand the smell and it's just rude to he using it out there like that. I've reported folks at hotels and will gladly report folks on a ship. I dont get into debates with people about it. I just report them.

I agree, I will also report them just like I would report anyone smoking anything outside of the designated smoking areas.  And if crew doesn't take action, I will push the issue and start reporting it up the chain - I won't let that go.   We all should report it, or next thing you know it will be like chair hogs where everyone knows that the rule isn't enforced so go ahead and smoke whatever you want, wherever you want.

Curious what would you do if someone was drunk? I've seen many more obnoxious drunks on cruises than people stoned.

In my opinion, if you want to get stoned on the pool deck, eat some edibles.  They don't put smoke in the air that is harmful to me.  Just like if you want to get drunk on the pool deck, have a few drinks.  Drinks don't put smoke in the air that is harmful to me.   If you become an obnoxious drunk (or obnoxious stoner, they do exist although I agree much less so) and you get in my space, I'll deal with that as I deem appropriate at the time.

You still cannot cross the border with CBD product, even if it contains 0% THC. However if you are a licensed producer you can import/export it between Canada/USA (At least here on the Canadian side)

Harmful to me? How about all the people who smoke in the casino and places outside? I don't smoke yet I have to put up with smokers and second hand smoke

Unlike tobacco smoke, second hand marijuana smoke will not harm you. If anything it may make you a little happy LOL But seriously, I do agree with everything you're saying. I would be equally as offended if someone were smoking a joint by the pool as I would if someone were smoking a cigarette. There are dedicated smoking areas for a reason. Vaping could go either way, there are some with literally 0 smell and can be quite discreet. But as you said, eat an edible or some oils if you absolutely must do it while part of a big crowd.

Actually, pot depresses me.  It's why I didn't smoke anywhere near as much as many of my friends and it's also why I haven't tried any of the legal varieties.

It's likely Indica depresses you. You may want to try something in the Sativa species which has very little (if any) depressive qualities. It actually increases focus and can be used to treat depression. As mentioned Indica (in-da'-couch) is a totally different strand that can very easily cause depression. 

 

New weed is MUCH different than weed we were smoking back in the 80's. You can pick a strand specific to the effect you are trying to reach. If you live in a state that allows recreational (and in a few years they all will), then any good shop can point you to the exact flower you want. 

 

Anyone willing to do the research will likely come to the conclusion that marijuana is significantly better than pharmaceuticals to treat various illness. Then again, there are those who have views just too indoctrinated to change.

If you want to bring Marijuana or CBD on a west coast cruise nobody will stop you even if they thought they knew what it was. Security doesn't care and i have never seen dogs but even so, the dogs in Seattle are not even trained to detect it anymore. I do think it would be dumb to bring flower since smoking it on the ship would be inviting problems.

the fact is that secondhand marijuana smoke contains most of the same cancer-causing particulate matter and toxic chemicals as secondhand tobacco smoke, plus a few bonus ingredients, such as tetrahydrocannabinol, which can give you a "contact high" without your consent.
