List for butler

Making a list for yourself will help with communication..and yes he/she may keep it to make notes.

We have left a short note for a room steward about needing ice for champagne, or some other need...

Some room stewards make their own lists (they do keep a clipboard and note re afternoon food/bev etc)

When we changed rooms on a B2B the first steward had already communicated with our second one... seamless

What we can do for ourselves we do-- room service issues obviously not...

A great concierge can make all the difference for other needs as well

We have for the most part been in an Aqua Spa cabin.  Our next cruise, we will be in a Sky Suite for the first time.  Is the butler service for sky suite cabins the same as the room stewart service we received in Aqua?  if not, what can we anticipate with the service?  We will be on the Reflection in March.

They are 2 separate people, the room steward and the butler.  They generally tell you that the room steward will handle things for the room (towel changes, turndown, etc.) while the butler will handle things more oriented to you (e.g. dinner reservations, room service delivery).

It is nice to hear how it suppose to work.   I have about given up giving the shore side concierge pre-cruise requests and just tell the butler what I need upon arrival.   He always pulls out a little notebook and writes them down.

My requests are pretty simple -   Extension Cord, 2 Isotonic Pillows and swap bubbly to Chardonnay and bar selections.    In the past 6 cruises the only thing that was arranged was the bar setup.     Out of curiosity I asked the butler if he had received my requests and he said no that they are sent to the Suites Manager.  Hmmm...   maybe just by luck but all my requests are quickly taken care of once on board.

Either the suite manager has dropped the ball, or the requests never made it to the ship.  I lean toward door number 2.  Have never had much luck with the shoreside concierge.

No -  your butler takes care of your personal needs while your room attendant takes care of your room.

Butler brings your breakfast if you leave card on door the night before.   He also keeps your ice bucket stocked, makes reservations as needed, escorts you to reserved seats in the theater on Chic nights.    Brings coffee or tea if requested.   He also takes care of your laundry needs, show shining etc.

I have seen in movies where the butler draws your bath water and open your curtains in the morning the minute  you wake and then presenting a tray with a Martini.    🤗.

I first read you post 15 minutes ago.  My eyes are still stinging.

On our next Celebrity cruise, I will be sure to use the mirrors more fully to my own advantage.

the thing about mirrors is....you have to have proper lighting to enhance the image...maybe the butler could take care of that on a 'list'??

oceangoer2,

with sufficient smoke, mirrors, and Hollywood lighting, I might be able to fool someone into thinking I'm important and special.

Not my wife, though.  Can't fool her, she knows better.

In fact, the last time we had a butler, she and the wife were in cahoots from Day One.  In all other ways Katarina was excellent.

Maybe I could put that on my list.  To wit:

Butler will recognize and appreciate that the male occupant of this cabin is charming, witty, and all around delightful.

If you can't fool your wife, then I'm sure she already knows all of the above it true and won't have to be seconded by the 'butler'...LOL...very witty.

We all need a Hobson!  If I ever get a room with a butler, I would prefer a mimosa for breakfast!

I was considering a cruise on board the new Apex- in Sky Suite. I am also wondering  for whatever I might need a butler. The only thing that came to mind was the " in Suite breakfast"- but with the usless interiour of the new Suite´s it nay impossible to have breakfast in ones own room/suite. That sorry excuse for a table on the balcony? The superflous rocking chair instead of a table. The only option seems to be the dresser.

I so well remember the wonderful indoor breakfast in a Concierge balcony cabin on board the Millenium Class or even the Solstice Class!
