I am booked on the Legend for April 2020 I have never been on this class of ship. I have been all the other class ships with Carnival with exception of Vista class (this will be 10th cruise on Carnival). So how will the Legend be different than the other class ships. I have heard good mostly but some not so good stuff. Thanks

Spirit class is my favorite class of Carnival ship.  I sailed on the Legend this past August and loved it.  You Tuber, Life with Favor has a series of vlogs from the Legend which I watched before sailing.

Spirit Class ships, of which Legend is one, are our favorites. The decks are easy to maneuver, no up and down stairs to bypass a galley to get to your dining room. In our opinion they have the best adults only Serenity Area in the Carnival fleet with their own pool and two hot tubs overlooking the stern. Bliss.

We have sailed Legend several times and love her.  Most recently this past summer to Alaska.  It has 2.0 upgrades such as Guy's Burger Joint, the Blue Iguana and other eateries that I can't remember.  Great ship.

Agree with what everyone thus far has mentioned. The ship is probably considered "small" now considering the behemoths that sail these days but it never seems crowded and is easy to navigate ("navigate" as in walk around, not to steer around the ocean!). The Serenity area is very nice and large and yeah, probably the best in the Carnival fleet. It was in for maintenance in early May of last year and got some upgrades but the big changes were the addition of the Alchemy Bar, Blue Iguana Cantina (delicious soft tacos and burritos), Blue Iguana Tequila bar, Guy's Burgers and the Red Frog Rum bar. It is somewhat older (18 years) so anyone looking to nitpick issues will find some but overall, the Spirit class ships (and Legend) are great. 😉

I second all of this. I have booked our last few cruises specifically to get a ship in this class.

I give the Legend a B+ grade, it would be A- if it had an outdoor screen.

Very easy to navigate around the ship.

Décor is PG-15 in some places. Some semi nude ladies and men are used for wall papering in the halls.

Sailed on Miracle twice last year and loved it! Will be on Legend February 2 for 7 day western Caribbean. Really looking forward to it, love this size ship, hate the big ones!

I was on the Legend august of 2018, after her drydock.   I love this ship, except for the fact that it does not have a big screen on the lido...no outdoor movies.

 

All the entertainment areas and theater are easy to get to and spacious.

Thanks for asking this question. We are considering the Legend for an 11 day Europe Cruise.

We've done Legend, both in Europe and in the US.  In fact, earlier this month.  I think her only shortcoming is the absence of the MUTS (Movies Under The Stars).  Since her drydock, the hammocks under the pergolas are absent from the Serenity area but that is no loss to me; in fact, a gain of chairs.  The Firebird Lounge is a great venue for the comedians and The Quest.

 

The Alchemy Bar seems to be in the way of traffic flow and somewhat added as an after-thought but that's not somewhere I frequent.  The patrons seemed very happy watching their drinks being concocted.

 

She's just the right size; you'll have a lovely cruise.

I have been on several Carnival ships (see signature).  I always use the following formula to figure out how "crowded" a ship will seem.  Take the ships tonnage (tons of water displaced) divided by the number of passengers.  The Spirit class (including the Legend) is the lowest of Passengers per ton.  Perhaps not the best measure of how crowded a ship will be, but a useful number non the less.

Been on the Pride (sister ship) twice, Legend once before and sailing in three weeks on the legend again.  Great ship!

 

First sea day the lido seemed crowded as all ships do then the rest of the week it was almost like we had the ship to ourselves. 

 

No 4d theater or ropes course or any of the new bells and whistles but great none the less.

 

You'll have a great time.

We loved the Dive-in movies on our first cruise (2012), but have been disappointed enough other times that it doesn't bother me to have an indoor screen.

 

Is the decor artistic/renaissance type wall covering or modern day pin-up calendar?  Big difference in the PG rating 😉

The décor is artistic, not pin-up. The ship was very easy to get around, and the public spaces seemed well laid out. I rarely felt crowded. We were forward on Deck 4 and felt that everywhere we wanted to go was easily accessible via the stairs or a nearby elevator.

Other ships in the Spirit class have outdoor screens, they maybe a little smaller (as can be seen in following video), but they have them.

I have sailed the Legend so much that I feel like it's my vacation home.

 

I do love this class of ship.  So easy to get around, there is no deck with a "can't get there from here" vibe, love the Serenity area with it's own pool in the aft.  Was on her in Alaska just last summer and returning to her for Europe this year.

 

My only "ding" is that for some reason when she was in dry dock they did not upgrade the lamps to have USB ports for charging (the Paradise had them so I was surprised the Legend didn't).  I was in a Vista Suite in Alaska so I was particularly surprised at the lack of outlet...if you're going to upgrade any room, I would have expected it to be the Suite.

 

That aside, would sail any Spirit class gladly.

The main pool (the aft pool) does have a retractable roof but the Legend does not have a screen for movies like Pride and Spirit. There is no "indoor" place to see movies that I'm aware of except on your in-cabin TV.

I believe they have in occasion shown movies during the day in the theater.

I was on the Legend from Vancouver to Hawaii. During the 5 seas days, they showed movies in the comedy club.

I have cruised on the Legend three times, they showed films in the smaller lounge during the day.

I love the fact that she has three pools, and the one in the back, is adults only.  NICE!

Have dinner in the steak house, you are dining in the funnel.  On this ship the funnel is for show.

The art work, is art work, very renaissance, and beautiful.  Not smutty.  We did get to attend a lecture regarding a film that was made with Salvador Dali and Walt Disney (I think they both did drugs) but the film was very interesting.

 

The ability to walk around the entire deck three is a treat.  The enchanted forest in the bow of the ship is a nice quiet area to read and watch the sea, and get out of the sun for a while.  Enjoy your cruise, remember if you read bad things about a ship, that one man's ceiling is another man's floor.

Never been on the legendary yet, We plan on cruising to Bermuda on it out of Baltimore late 2021.

I've been on the Pride 3 times now its the same ship with different decor. 

 

 

Awesome ships plenty of room for everyone (except for sometimes packed buffets). Plenty for everyone to do, gym casino, spa, theater, clubs, adults only retreat, shops, basketball, mini golf, water slides, trivia, bingo....

 

We loved going to the main dining room for dinner, awesome food and great service.

Legend is my Favorite Carnival ship.  I have sailed on her twice, both very long cruises across the Pacific.  

 

The interior layout is similar to other classes of ships, but the exception is the serenity area.  On other classes of ships where the serenity is a very small area on one of the upper decks, on Legend serenity is the entire aft deck of deck 9.  There is a pool, hot tubs and full bar back there.  There are places to sit in the shade or the sun. 

 

The crew on (almost) every cruise I have been on has been amazing, but on my two trips on Legend they have just been a cut above.  From the CDs to the cabin steward, they have all just been fantastic. 

 

On my second trip on her, the ship looked like it was overdue for a yard period, and our cabin A/C went out for a few hours, but other than that I have never had a problem with the condition of the ship. 

 

Food is about the same as other ships, with the exception of the steak house which has always been a highlight of our trips.  

 

I have a T/A booked on Legend next year and the ship itself was a big part of the decision.  

 

If you do book on her, I hope you have as great an experience I my wife and I have had.
