How the Heck Is This Even Possible??

It sounds like Celebrity is getting ready for a half-price sale

This. 😅

But seriously enormous increases are possible especially if there are only a few cabins left. That being said $8900 for a balcony cabin is insane.

Celebrity's prices have gotten insane. We booked the Reflection back in January for a TA in 2021. We paid $4300.00 with 4 perks. The price is now  about $5400.00 with 3 perks. We have the Premium drink pkg, and now the 3 perk has the Classic. Was looking to upgrade to a balcony, and they are over$6400.00. At these prices we never would have booked Celebrity. There are other options out there that we are still considering for the same price or less and they include a balcony.

We ran into huge price fluctuations a couple years ago on a Hawaii cruise. Think it was the uniqueness of the itinerary that caused people to overbook. We got in around 2200 pp for a  balcony; it then dropped to a bit under $2000 a person and we were able to take advantage of the drop. Over the next six months the prices climbed up to close to $4,000 a person as the balconies sold out. Predictably, many people must have booked just in case they wanted to go (this was before non refundable deposits) and after final payment many balconies opened back up and think the prices dropped down to $1,5000 pp. It happens, it always has and always will. But you would hope the non-refundable deposits would help with the extreme fluctuations a bit.

We're also booked on the Reflection 2021 TA in AQ1 class. Got it for $2479 each with insurance and taxes. Now it's $3479. We booked while on the ship so got some OBC and gratuities. Don't really need the drink package as we are Elite+ and do not drink that much. It was $2279 before we got on the ship so I booked as soon as I got onboard. Feel as though I got a fair price for the cruise. Just have to watch the price before final payment because you never know what  inventory control will do. Next hurdle is airfare from AMS to Orlando without being crammed in like sardines.

Am laughing a bit. We are on Shilouette TA this April. We were part of a group booking at $1600 in a veranda - 3 perks. Last week inside offered at $389 and veranda at $809 - no perks. There were lots of cabins open. This week prices with 1 perk offered almost double the no perk price from last week.

The Greenland cruise mentioned is a specialty cruise, not a real TA. Have been on many TAs and they often drop in price near or after final payment date.

I recently booked a January 2021 cruise with the 4 perk package. 7 hours later, the same 4 perk package was not available at the same price (it went up $400 pp) and the same cruise, same cabin class was almost $1700 more. Cruise ships use a computer program to set pricing so that it is extremely unlikely that prices will ever be lower than the day you look or book.

Oh the prices do indeed drop, have seen it happen on nearly every cruise we've taken.
