On ships that have the Red Frog Pub or the smokehouse/brewhouse, they are $20 normally or $10 during happy hours (usually a couple hours on embarkation day and the last port day).

The friends I made 10 years ago (next year) have decided to hook up again for our anniversary, on Carnivals anniversary.  We will be on the Pride out of Tampa, 8 days, 5 ports!  and a big old party at sea with 4 other ships.  Hope you can find one of the Sailabration cruises you want!

it will be a long while till I can cruise again.  Now 24hr caregiver to two elderly parents, one very ill at this time, another not very well either.  I dont have any other family nearby to help, so I am happy to be here for them, but still hope that some day, I will cruise and or travel again, though, it will be at a time of loss for me.  

 

However, when I do eventually get to cruise again, and on Carnival, I will just enjoy what I always enjoy, the food, the drink LOL, bring on the funship specials, mai tais, and whatever new drinks they will offer by then, and hopefully, by that time, I will enjoy a smoke free casino. Have always enjoyed Carnivals casinos, but the last two cruises, 2015 and 2016, the casinos were so smoky that it severely altered my time in there.  

 

Next cruise on Carnival, look forward to good food, smoke free casino, and also hopefully a room with good temperature control.  Last two cruises were terribly warm in the room, and did not sleep well because of inability to cool the temps.

I don't believe that will ever happen. From my observations, a majority of people playing in the casinos are smokers. To take that away means they won't play as much, and the casinos are huge revenue generators. When the Paradise was launched in 1998, it began as a completely smoke-free ship. But that policy only lasted until 2003. Carnival cited poor revenue and claimed that non-smokers didn't drink & gamble as much as smokers. The almighty dollar trumps the comfort of non-smokers in certain situations.

agree, but I guess this will largely be a point where I will or will not cruise again.  I did smoke for quite some years myself, but since I quit many years ago, it is something that I no longer can tolerate as a side consumer.  It will certainly be a huge consideration for me int he future with regard to travel in the future.  At this time in life, and in the current situation in the world, I am sadly finally thinking that travel for me is a thing of the past.  I hope that life for most will somehow come back to normal again soon.

I will probably do what I ussually do. Stand there, shaking, incredulous that the day I have been hoping and waiting for is finally here. And I will continue doing that until someone says "Vicky!" [or Mom or Grandma or Gigi] "Why are you just standing there. Let's go!" At this point I will just follow where everyone else has decided to go. When I first get on the ship I am always so excited, that I literally 'shut down." I ussually start to recover once I am sitting on my balcony.

How did you like the Horizon?  I’m scheduled to sail her in October 2020. This will be a new class of ship for me.  That is the first thing I do when I board is explore the ship to find out where everything is and get my bearings so to speak. Glad you had a fun cruise. I’m currently waiting for Carnival’s announcement tomorrow to see if my May 9th cruise is cancelled.

I didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. I don't like the design of the new Limelight Lounge (comedy club) and Liquid Lounge (main theater). I think they really dropped the ball on those layouts. Going to events and activities in those two venues had a big impact on our cruise because their size & layout meant that it was best to arrive very early. Trying to get there early and beat the crowds just to get a decent seat really affected how we managed our time and it interfered with other things. That was probably the worst part of it. I enjoyed having more options (food & entertainment) that a bigger ship had to offer. The layout of the ship took some getting used to, but it didn't take us long to learn where everything was. In the end, we're not eager to go on it again soon, but we wouldn't rule it out at some point in the future. Don't let the negative experiences get you down, though. I read all kinds of negative tales about the smaller venues, the crowded feeling, etc., but we like to experience it for ourselves. I appreciate people voicing their negatives as much as their positives. It helps keep things in perspective. But everyone's different and we often look at things differently, so for us, it's important to experience it for ourselves to be sure.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  I have read from several people that the biggest problems with the vista class is the layouts of the lounges as you have stated.  I will definitely look up your review.  I just got my cancellation letter this morning for my cruise on May 9th so now I’m just hoping to go on the Horizon in October.   Again, thank you.  Stay safe and healthy.  May we all get back to happy cruising soon after this horrible virus is done.

I find on my Carnival sailings I can avoid the smoke if I avoid the casino and the areas around it (lido deck smoking doesn't bother me as much since it is outside, but can be avoided if you aren't walking or running laps).  It can take creativity to get certain places, but an option.

 

I have also read that Celebrity limits smoking to outer decks, so no smoking in their casino.  Viking Ocean is another possible line with no smoking - no casino either (and a higher cruise fare).

 

OP - I will find something fun to drink and probably some fries from Guys and a shrimp salad from Blue Iguana.  Maybe pizza if DH really wants to split one instead 🙂

As I walk the gangway to the ship, the tears will be rolling down my face for being thankful that things are back to normal.  As I cross the threshold onto the cruise ship I'll head to the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar to pickup my fav Blue's Patron Margarita. Best margarita at sea. Tip the bartender well and let them know I'll be back all week to ensure my margarita's are top notch on my frequent visits throughout the week. Next DH and I will split, him to Guy's burger and me to Blue Iguana for a taco salad.  We'll meet up at the closest loungers and enjoy our first lunch and drinks.  I'll grab another BPM on my way to the cabin.

 

Next, I'll be at our cabin wiping it down with Clorox wipes like I always do and putting the remote in a ziplock baggie.  Next, DH and I will be enjoying drinks on the balcony as we breathe in the ocean air.
