I don't know as much as others here but IMHO the sooner CCL gets any of its ships out there the better off they are as a company. And the demographics on Carnival are lower than on Princess.  Think of the 20s who went to the beaches and Mexico for a break. There is a demand and they have some cash

Yup, Carnival is very popular with the college kids.  My niece just did Spring break with a bunch of friends on Carnival.  I think the demographics are going to shift to a younger crowd on most cruise lines for a while.  That's okay,  I am young at heart 🙂

The risk of catching the virus on a cruise ship is not necessarily higher than other places such as the high number of those who tested positive after a choir rehearsal recently. Those who want to avoid cruising had better also avoid choir rehearsals, religious services, movie theaters, concerts, Broadway plays, etc. as someone with the virus and contagious can be in any of those venues in the future as easily as they can be on a cruise ship.

I somehow missed this and I completely agree.  I'm sitting as close to someone at the symphony as I am to someone in Princess Theater.  Ditto for daily morning coffee gathering at Starbucks, classes, and services at least once a week. I never shake hands but that doesn't mean I'm 'protected' there either. I'm not going to stop living (once Shelter in Place is over) just because.

Don't think they are going to go back to normal anytime soon either. All of the things you listed are going are going to operate dramatically different, even once shelter in place is over, compared to how they operated prior to this.  If they are allowed to re-open.

They'll reopen. Perhaps without elder seniors (over 70) who may opt out of living but they'll be there for the rest of us. And soon this will be a memory like 1918, 2001, MERS, SARS, and the rest. Just like Spring Break

Just thought of something:: maybe the waiting time at Tadich's will be under an hour?? 🤞🤞

Found this interesting: Carnival Cruise Line Limits Capacity on Select Voyages in May and June

https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5259/

I hope that is not for real.  I can't imagine sailing in May in the middle of a pandemic.

Edit: even though this is for Carnival it might deserve a thread of its own here, CCL sailing in May??

agreed, but I do like the idea of somewhat limiting the capacity at first … which may become moot, if passengers aren't willing to cruise in the same numbers as pre-Corona

book low and hope for a comped upgrade ?

Actually I was mentioning that Carnival Corporation was having 1 of their lines ramping up service which should help the stock price. I thought this was a thread about the stock price not cruising Princess

I agree with you and your reason for posting it here...   But IMO the info on that link may be of interest to others besides those interested in the stock price, thus my suggestion for a thread of its own.  Just a thought.

I believe it is just more of the same, a demonstration that they are trying to sail the cruises, if someone tries to sue them for not canceling cruises they know are not going to happen, they can always point to this and say that they were trying to make them happen and just could not for reason A, B or C. Thus the late cancellation.

go to the Princess website

Plan a cruise

May, 2020

I believe there were 33 cruises that could still be currently booked … including Alaska, and Japan … on the Diamond

Yeap, 33 of them, just checked...  and some to Vancouver even though the port is closed all of May and then some.

Trying to get more $s from pax, looks like.

Just my lowly opinion, but anyone who would actually book a cruise now for April, May or even June just goes to prove that P.T. Barnum was right. One is born every minute. 😆

Just sol 100 shares and made 60%. Put in an order to buy again at 8. There will be bad news sooner or later and it will go down again. Keeping 100 shares aside for the onboard credit. what else is there to do?

CCL is over $13/share today. This is up from under $8/share at its lowest. Seems to be a steady upward trend but of course that could change at any moment.

The 50% retrenchment point from the last drop is around $13.  If it fails to break through the next leg down would take it to about $6.50  if you are a technical trader.

Yup, the ships were getting to be a little overcrowded.  Maybe I will now be able to get an upgrade to a balcony 🙂

Honestly, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I actually looked at some in May since our daughter looks to be out of school for a while.

like a previous poster mentioned, one could catch the virus anywhere there are groups of people. 🤷🏼‍♀️ To each his own, I suppose.

Back to the topic at hand—I wish we would’ve purchased more stock when it got down around 8. We spent too much time back and forth about it.

I purchased some at 8 (CUK) and then kicked myself for not selling when it got up to 16 before dropping again on the news there would be no bailout. Working its way back up a bit.

Dr Fauci stated that he could see summer travel but not before that so I'm not cruising until September

I've bought now all the way up & down ... 14.55, 15.79, 17.79, 8.69, 13.02 .... will eventually only hold 100 shares.

And if you designated the 100 shares sold as your original shares bought long ago at a higher price, you have a nice capital loss for next year's tax return while still having enough shares for the OBC. Just do not repurchase within 30 days.

I expect the next time they announce there wont be cruises for another month, it will go down. Then the stay in place will be lifted sooner than expected, it will go up. But it is still a risky adventure but I am not near any casino. The people on the bus go up and down...
