I’m so sorry Bloodaxe. Our pets are so precious and have kept us sane this year. Your daughter-in-law must be so upset......

yorkshirephil Posted December 25, 2020 #11658 Share Posted December 25, 2020 After spending three Christmases with little to celebrate during World World One, in 1918 the British people found themselves enduring a festive season under the constraints of a deadly pandemic, as could be compared to the world's current covid-19 crisis. On December 21 1918 - around this time 102 years ago - the weekly number of Spanish Flu deaths in the UK had fallen to 1,029, having reached it's deadly peak in November when 8,000 people died in the first week alone. Today the UK's weekly deaths from covid-19 stand at 3,062. With no scientific explanation as to why the numbers of dead had begun to drop, and having not spent a peace-time Christmas together for three years, the UK public were left with the difficult decision whether to meet with family over the festive period. brian1 Posted December 25, 2020 #11660 Share Posted December 25, 2020 On a happier note,by coincidence the rescue centre in Rome just sent us this of Tommy. We found him in the Summer running around covered in ticks and a dislocated hip.We drove him to Rome where they operated on him and are now trying to find him a home.

It will be interesting to see and hear how many are set off for new year. I don’t suppose people have held them back from Guy Fawkes night because we seemed to hear them every night for a fortnight. Some folks seem to have plenty of money to burn, I only hope that they burn it on their own and not with people congregated around them, even if they are outside (which at least the person setting them off they will have to be).

So sorry your cat passed away. It's an awful to lose a pet, they are part of your family. Take heart bloodaxe, this awful year is nearly over and we can hopefully look forward to better, positive and happier ones. What a lovely photo bro. he looks so different from the bedraggled little thing I saw before. I hope he gets adopted soon, someone will be really lucky to have him. Josy1953 Posted December 25, 2020 #11674 Share Posted December 25, 2020 It struck us as strange to hear fireworks because there, were none around here in November. David thinks that there will be lots at New Year because people will be glad to see the end of 2020.
